Review: A mesmerising quadruple A here on Eighteenth Street as Thievery Corp serve up on the most beautiful moments from their Culture Of Fear album and pair it with a lush slice of ambience from rising sound scientist Tycho. Naturally both parties remix each other's work, making this a very consistent and musically powerful EP. The highlight for us is Rob Garza's remix of Tycho's "Ascension" - if this doesn't take you to a higher plain, nothing will. Unmissable.

Review: One of the more propulsive cuts from Tycho's album for Ghostly International enjoys a single release with two apt remixes that zoom in on the ambient qualities in the droney chap's music. The Keep Shelly In Athens mix takes great pleasure in letting languid vocals ring out until they become pads of their own, over cavernous hits and porous decays, while a politely glitchy beat ticks away underneath, only to bubble up aggressively in a crescendo of troubled kick drums. Memoryhouse meanwhile let the warbling pitch reign supreme in a positively stretched out slice of electronica that drifts on by with ease.

Review: It's been some three years since the release of Dive, the most recent full length from Scott Hansen's decidedly Balearic Tycho project. Here he returns to regular home Ghostly International with Awake, his fourth full-length. It sees him in fine form, delivering a sun-bright set that melds blissful guitars and shoegaze textures with hazy electronics, warm grooves and orange-hued atmospherics. Hansen is a master at creating unashamedly positive, evocative music, and Awake is full of these kind of smile-inducing moments. Aside from being impeccably well made, it is also pleasingly cheery. If you've yet to succumb to his charms, Awake is a great place to start.

Review: Released at the height of chillwave, 'Dive' was a staple of early-2010s YouTube algorithm downtempo. While relatively few people were aware of Tycho before then, the artist (real name Scott Hansen) had already been working for nearly 20 years as a musician and graphic designer under the ame ISO50, which later led to sonic-visual mastery of 'minimal' in all its forms. Something between prog, electronic and washed out, the album struck a nerve among the net-nestled young, serving as one of the earliest examples of a kind of opiate music that would go on to influence the taste of a generation.

Review: Scott Hansen aka. Tycho's sixth full-length album is a worthy comeback, a self-proclaimed album about "hope for the future and a requiem for the past". Drawing on the image of Hunter S Thompson as portrayed by Johnny Depp in Fear And Loating In Las Vegas - "sitting at a typewriter looking out a window onto his past, trying to find meaning in the chaos" - so Tycho ventures to explore his own past and to sublate it in album form, with the express purpose of finding a universal sonic panacea for humankind. Tycho's cure-all is a vision in suspenseful electro-funk and thumpingly serene beats, which carry with them a signature womp and pump throughout. Focusing primarily on breaks, drums and rhythmic elements, Hansen nonetheless moves in markedly different direction compared to standout algo-choices like Dive, on which a slower pace was heard preferred.

Review: Years after his debut and a string of four further albums, American downtempo pop powerhouse Tycho aka. Scott Hansen presents his sixth record Infinite Health. Hansen says Infinite Health is "about hope for the future and a requiem for the past." He explains: "I kept thinking back to the high-water mark scene in Fear and Loathing, the author sitting at a typewriter looking out a window onto his past, trying to find meaning in the chaos. Infinite Health is about creating a space for healing and reflection, a mantra for spiritual, emotional, and physical healing." Working within a higher-tempo, haute house range, the likes of 'Phantom', 'Devices' and 'Green' bridge the divides of acoustic and electronic, effortlessly portraying the imaginary unity of both, offering pristine ambitronic lulls and eco-friendly highs.

Review: By Scott Hansen's previously prolific standards, we've had to wait a fair old while for a new album. Infinite Health, the third Tycho album for Ninja Tune after years signed to Ghostly International, is by design something of a reset: a self-proclaimed meditation on "hope for the future" mixed with a "requiem for the past". Stylistically, that also means a return to his electronic roots, with colourful, melody-rich and sun-splashed synth sounds combined with unfussy beats and breaks, toasty basslines and glistening, AM radio-friendly guitar licks. It is then, regardless of the inspirations behind it, a classic-sounding Tycho album - as highlights 'Phantom', the instrumental deep synth-pop dreaminess of 'Devices' and the lo-fi, trip-hop influenced shuffle of 'Green' emphatically prove.
