Yoshiko Sai, one of Japan's most revered singers from the 1970s, gears up to release her entire discography on limited-edition coloured vinyl, settling the score of fan demand. After a 30-year hiatus following her 1978 album Cho no Sumu Heya, Sai returned to releasing with the mesmeric world contained on Taklamakan (2008), which was made with the aid of longtime collaborators Seiichi Yamamoto and Takeharu Hayakawa. With Sai's own illustrations on the cover, we're met with a fine, satinet art pop and vocal jazz comeback here, with the colour and title representing the vast Taklamakan desert in China's Xinjiang region.
