Second time round for Tita Duval and company's 1974 set "Cumbias Internacionales", an obscure but undeniably hugely entertaining set that remains almost unknown outside its native Colombia. It's perhaps fitting that the set is finally getting a worldwide release, because the album itself is proudly globalist in outlook. Although rooted in Cumbia, the ten tracks variously draw influence from Afro-funk and Afrobeat (see "Safari Safari"), psychedelia ("Zombie Rock"), organ-heavy easy listening ("A Mi Modo"), funk ("Claudia"), and much more besides. It's a hugely entertaining set, with the band's quality Cumbia rhythms driving the tracks forwards throughout.
