New Australian band The Traffic is made up of some of the best instrumentalists in the Melbourne scene. They have the honour of being behind this first-ever release for the new Choi Records funk label - it's a reissue of their correctly entitled 'Fire' 7" which packs in plenty of real heat. The A-side is a mad and high-speed chase with prickly drum work and some characterful and conversational flute and horn leads that play back and forth with real energy. Flip it over for 'Bangarang', a more stripped-back but just as funky, fat-bottomed roller with more big horn work.
