Ritmi vinyl

The latest intriguing electronic exploration from Riccardo Schirro's Gravity Graffiti label comes from Maledetti, a previously unheard studio hook-up between Schirro and label regular Lamusa. While many of the label's previous releases have been dreamy, melodious and unashamedly loved-up, Ritmi is a far stranger and more clandestine affair. Check, for example, the paranoid chords, manipulated vocal samples and feverish African drums of opener "Sentire", the low-slung, post punk-influenced Afro-dub of "Essere" and the wonky, "Music For 18 Musicians"-goes-to-Bali humidity of "Creare". That's re-invented as "Ricreare" (geddit?) by Yoshinori Hayashi, whose fuzzy, loose and groovy version sits somewhere between Afro-tinged jazz-funk and eccentric deep house.
