Review

London's Karen Gwyer, who has been spotted on the streets of Kreuzberg these days, has been an important member of Semtek's Don't Be Afraid imprint over the last few years, and we can safely say that her mini LP, the wonderful Rembo, was one of 2017's shining highlights. Unsurprisingly, it's up for the remix duties, and our Bristol brother has put together a fine collection of producers to rework and rewire Gwyer's blissful techno sounds. Newcomer Via App detunes "The Workers Are On Strike" into a bubbling, ultra off-kilter mantra of deranged electronics, while LIES stalwart Ron Morelli pushes through some techno lashings on his remix of "He's Been Teaching Me To Drive". Over on side B, E Myers' version of "It's Not Worth The Bother" offers a wacky selection house chords accompanied by a fast techno groove, and MR's take on "Why Does Your Father Look So Nervous" indulges in the deeper, darker, more ethereal side of techno. A lovely affair.
