12 months have now passed (give or take a week or two) since the quietly impressive debut release from High Voltage Music, a deep house imprint seemingly based around the idea of sampling up (or reworking) classic and forgotten cuts. This belated sequel follows a similar script, offering two tracks from an uncredited artist whose sounds, samples and grooves may be reminiscent to one or two dedicated crate diggers. A-side 'Different Story' is built around a chunky, organ-heavy groove overlaid with glassy-eyed spoken word samples, lilting lead lines, echoing synth sounds and nods to the piano-driven joy of early 90s Italo-house. 'Hey Muchacho' on the flip leans further into the Italo-house vibes - all rubbery synth bass, drifting female vocal samples, bubbly acid lines and kaleidoscopic synth stabs.
