Patio De Juegos CD

Argentinean house producer Guti has been picking up plenty of props of late for his tactile, jazz-flecked take on deep house. This first album for Desolat sees him develop this approach further. While he rarely strays from deep house, Patio De Juegos offers plenty of new twists on many of the sound's familiar variants (piano house, Berlin grooves etc). While this often just means the addition of Argentinean vocals or drum patterns, there are more revolutionary moments. See, in particular, several takes on Chicagoan boompty-jazz - loose, South American interpretations that sound like Derrick Carter making tango - and "My Whole Thing", a delightfully stripped-back vocal number that's nothing short of sublime.
