The Souls Of DSC Vol 2 vinyl

Some 12 months on from the release of the first, multi-artist The Souls of DSC EP, Dockside Records delivers a follow-up. As with its predecessor, the 12" draws together subtly soulful box jams from label artists and associates. There's naturally much to admire, from the rolling, riff-fuelled U.S style deep house pump of Dwayne Jenson's "Make Love", to the piano heavy, retro-futurist bounce of 2bar's "The Docks". Arguably best of all, though, is Giovanni Damico's contribution, a smoky chunk of Andres style deep house jazziness entitled "Ain't No Call For You". Like the Detroit producer's work, it features some killer samples and just the right balance between functional, loop-heavy grooves, and more expansive musicality.
