A deep dig from the early 90s gets a new lease of life as Cosmic Soup follow up their reissue of Howard Dodd's Oxidation 12" with another of his projects - Doc Bozique. This one-off release has attained a mythical reputation due to its scarcity and its pitch perfect balance of early trance, bleep and tech house in its infancy. 'Closer To Heaven' is a rose-tinted vision of techno in all its nascent glory, all shimmering pads and uplifting leads, while 'Closer To Heaven (In A Rave)' draws on the distinctive Sheffield-centric bleep sound to deadly effect. 'Mind' follows a similar path of vintage techno, albeit with a sparkling array of synth lines out front, before 'My Man' brings it home with a dreamy, bass-loaded deep house cut.
