Semi-Delicious founder Demi Riquisimo has always been adept at crafting contemporary club cuts with a nostalgic feel and references aplenty to vintage dancefloor styles of old, most frequently acid house, early '90s Italo-house and disco. On 'Proto Call', the title track of his first 12" for Italian imprint Life Or Death, he steps back in tine once more, adding dreamy and colourful Italo-house chords and lilting lead lines to a groove that sits somewhere between prime Italo-disco and the mid-80s 'proto-house' dubs of Paul Simpson, Boyd Jarvsi and Timmy Regisford. He's back on prime 'Naples 1992' vibes on 'Talk To Frank', a bouncy and organ-rich affair propelled forwards by a deliciously squelchy and addictive bassline. Top stuff all told!
