Anchorage, Alaska based DJ and internet blogger Curtis Vokda first came to Juno back in 2006 with some blistering hip hop and r&b edits. He's dropped a number of crucial 45rpms since on labels like Heavy Hittaz and On The Brink and now appears on Deep Friend Funk out of the US. His sounds are bustling drum breaks, big raw horns and guttural vocals for a southern funk sound packed with flavour. That is certainly the case on 'Homeless Funk' while 'Jazzy Drummer' is more laid back and louche.
