Well into the twilight years of their career by this point, Butthole Surfers' electric eighth album Independent Worm Saloon continued the trend of upped heaviness in their sound, thanks to the then-recent addition of ex-Frank Zappa bandmate John Paul Jones. A righteous comeback after their flop 'Piouhgd' came out a year earlier, the album blends road-rock and ironic American humour to belligerent effect.
