'Prospect Hummer' was something of a bolt from the blue on its release ten years ago, and still sounds unique today. Very little had been heard from Vashti Bunyan since her stark and epochal 'Just Another Diamond Day' was released in 1970, but this seemingly unlikely collection marked a truly serendipitous meeting of minds. Marrying the otherworldly and the ancient, the four songs on this EP are fuelled by a rich chemistry between the primal experimentalism of Animal Collective and Bunyan's aesthetic purity. The result, as understated as it is beguiling, is no less than fifteen minutes of sheer bliss.
