Review: It's hard to get your head around how many albums Chihei Hatakayama has put out. Not least as they only unveiled their debut LP back in 2006. Since then, more than 70 long form releases have followed. Shun Ishiwaka has hardly been resting not their laurels, either. Collaborations have come thick and fast too, name-checking Ai Kuwabara, Hiroki Chiba, Kei Matsumaru, Gen Hoshino, Terumasa Hino and Tony Allen, among a host of others. The point being that both artists are contemporary veterans, and after meeting while appearing live on the radio quickly hit it off, and began hatching plans for their own studio sessions. With tangible chemistry, they set to recording what would eventually become this two-volume epic. A stunning journey through ambient, piano, jazz, and more, we cannot recommend enough.
