Review: AgainstMe makes a powerful debut on Renegade Methodz with 'Diagonal Prism', a four-track EP that offers up his refined minimalist approach to techno. Known for meticulous sound design, AgainstMe brings a fresh yet distinctive style to this Greek label and is sure to pick up plenty of new fans as a result. The EP opener 'Drama' introduces dense grooves and subtle yet impactful drum patterns that build tension, while a throbbing synth weaves in and out. The title track relies on hypnotic repetition and driving rhythms, while '4PM' brings peak-time energy with crisp, dynamic beats. Closing with 'Spasmoi' AgainstMe delivers a compelling club groove that masterfully balances intensity and rhythm.
Review: Greek techno producer Endlec has graced the catalogues of Mord, Analogue and Children Of Tomorrow, but here they come to Renegade Methodz for an uppercutting five-tracker in the mode of hard techno bordering on schranz. Rave elements abound on this nitty-loving opus, with the likes of 'Only Users Left Inside' and 'Unleash The Beast' seeming to liken the interior of the rave to a forbidden corner of hell.
Review: Since emerging from Thessaloniki's underbelly in the mid-2010s, Endlec has carved out a reputation for punishing, no-frills techno rooted in the discipline of the 90s. A regular on Mord and MindTrip, he's long been a reliable source of dancefloor artilleryibut this one marks a shift. Self-released on his Renegade Methodz imprint, this debut album spans a full decade of experience, pulling together tracks made between late 2023 and October 2024. 'Omicron' and 'Clockmaker' are classic Endlecirelentless and tactileiwhile 'Sunday To Monday' and 'In Negative' draw from a deeper well, brushing up against melody and restraint. 'Mechanizer' grooves with mechanical tension, and 'No Return' rides a punishing loop without ever losing momentum. More refined than anything he's done before, it's a brutalist record with emotional depth, capturing an artist at a point of hard-won maturity.
Review: As the Renegade Methodz label hurtles towards its tenth release, Endless keeps his foot to the metal on this new 12". 'Max Hit' is direct, linear techno with real snap in the percussion and suppleness in the lead synths. That duality is carried on through 'Faux Wave 3' with its unrelieved loops and militant drum programming then 'Systematica' ups the ante with cantering kicks and warped synths lashing about the mix. It's pure body music but full of atmosphere and 'Signalion' shuts down with more high speed, unrelenting techno funk and pulsating synth lines.
Review: This superb EP from Metapattern, who has already impressed dn Hayes Records and MORD, is a bold reflection of his identity as an artist. It draws on classic techno but repurposes it with a contemporary edge that belies the producer's mastery of the genre's foundations at the same time as finding him pushing its boundaries. Inspired by Berlin's dark energy, these tunes are minimalistic yet deeply purposeful as they emphasise real restraint, which allows every element to really make its mark over heavy grooves.
Review: For their next trick, Renegade Methodz presents a record that brings together three of Greece's top electronic music exports in Anne, Endlec and Sera J. All of them hail from Thessaloniki and are artists that have gained international recognition with releases on some of the scene's best labels. For this project, they deliver six tracks of cutting-edge techno production, each reflecting their signature style. Symbolically titled Rework Our Unity, this 12" shines deserving attention on the scene in Thessaloniki while also providing some super club cuts.
