Review: The Soundcarriers' fourth album 'Wilds' is on the horizon, dealing in perhaps the most developed iteration of their sound they've got to offer yet. Since forming in 2007, Paul Isherwood, Adam Cann, Dorian Conway and Leonore Wheatley have delivered only a fraction of their potential; but from the opening, bell-tollingly playful track 'Waves', we can assume this is the foremost fleshing-out of their sound. Perhaps this has something to do with their recording locations, which always took place in anything other than a music studio; perhaps only primary schools, cottages and art galleries can produce this kind of maximalist folk-psych sound. Coming to heavyweight black vinyl with a tip-on sleeve.

Review: The fourth LP outing from the Nottingham band sees revelling in 60s psychedelia and folk sounds, checking in somewhere between the whimsical glories of The Left Banke, the powering grooves of The Doors and the beguiling melodicism of Nick Drake. It's a nostalgic sound but it's not lacking in dynamics, especially when driven along by the glittering, sparkling drums of founding member Adam Carr, which often feel like the lead instrument as the vocals of Leonore Wheatley and the guitar, bass and keyboards mesh into a hazy supporting act.

Review: Ghost Box's approach to bringing out the haunted nostalgia in music is unmatched, and this reissue of The Soundcarriers' 2014 LP is but one of many (albeit one of the best examples) of the label's ability to package this aesthetic vision into a consistent release stream. Coming in tandem with the four-piece's latest LP 'Wilds', this reissue of 'Entropicalia' shows off the band at their best, pre-hiatus. A plunderphonics album by every stretch, all sounds are found, charting every influence from 1950s kitsch through to region-specific compilation samplers sifted from charity shops in the present day - all hitting on a sense of unintended, tropical decay. From the vocals of the title track through to the unrelenting post-punk drivers of 'Low Light' and 'So Beguiled', get ready once more to sip your tainted cocktail to this one.
