Review: Don't worry, BBC fans, the title here should definitely be considered as a reference to everything other than this album. Sweeping as that is, the outfit have spent six years considering their future, going on "indefinite hiatus" following 2014's astonishing "So Long, See You Tomorrow", and offering excellent solo bits, only to return with work that's both fresh and reassuringly familiar. By now you're probably familiar with "Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)", which forsakes the soft-edges of that preceding, sample-heavy record in favour of something more in keeping with earlier, more "live sounding" fare. There's plenty more here along those lines, not least "I Can Hardly Speak" and the title number itself. Efforts like "Let You Go" rely on glitchy electronics for impact, instrumentation that sounds cast in vivid moonlight abounds on "People People", while "Get Up" is a sultry, sax-filled anthem. This is indeed how you stage a comeback.

Review: First released in September 2021 on digital formats, coinciding with what would have been Dolores O'Riordan's 50th birthday, Remembering Dolores is The Cranberries' heartfelt ode to their iconic and inimitable lead singer, who tragically drowned in 2018. By that point, she'd helped the beloved and critically acclaimed Irish alt rockers sell some 50million albums across the globe, give or take, picking up ten US, five UK, and 14 Canadian platinum albums in the process, with the final recordings that went into last album In The End bagging a Grammy-nomination. Arguably one of the most impactful bands and one of the planet's most awesome lead singers, the 18 tracks here only really give a partial insight into the individual and combined talent that catapulted the outfit into the musical stratosphere. Combining traditional Celtic vocal tones with gritty guitar work, chart-friendly pop sensibilities and a consistent undercurrent of experimentalism, often dealing with highly resonant themes both personal and political.

Review: As part of a wider Cranberries reissues bundle, the Irish dream pop favourites' third album To The Faithful Departed is here reissued as an vinyl edition. The 1996 album features the later singles 'Salvation', 'Free to Decide' and 'When You're Gone', and while these were by no means such gargantuan successes as the likes of 'Zombie', they still dominated the rock and indie charts at the time. The 3CD deluxe edition offers the a selection of demos from the recording sessions in Paris, plus unreleased outtakes, early mixes, and and 12 live pieces recorded on the band's 1996 Free to Decide tour. This comes with an extensive booklet about the making of the album based on interviews with the remaining members of the band.

Review: It is unfortunate for Disclosure that their latest album has landed during the Coronavirus pandemic. We are in a time when clubs are shut, dance music is on hold, no-one is dancing, there are no (legal) parties and 'Energy' is all about exactly those things. The record, then, takes on a new quality, one where you feel like you are mourning for those old days, remembering the joy of a sweaty and communal experience. The music ranges from festival sized anthems to garage skippers via the odd Afro-tinged pop nugget such as the already huge "Douha (Mali Mali)".

Review: It seems astonishing that 17 years have passed - and much water flowed under the proverbial bridge - since Dizzee Rascal released his groundbreaking debut album, Boy In Da Corner. The man himself seems to think so too, because E3 AF, his seventh album, sees him return to his East London roots via a set that's every bit as vibrant, inventive and exciting as his breakthrough debut. His rhymes - and those of the numerous guest MCs littered throughout the set - are naturally on-point, dexterous and lyrically inventive, while the beats they ride expand Dizzee's original raw, bass-heavy grime blueprint via nods to trap, UK garage, dubstep and dancehall. As many critics have pointed out, the result is the Bow-raised mic man's best album in years.
