Review: Following the resounding success of the iconic 1957 compilation "My Pussy Belongs To Daddy," Ebalunga!!! proudly presents Girlesque, an exquisite solo album by the incomparable Faye Richmonde which was originally released in 1959. This gem once again captivates with its blend of genres and provocative song titles that all showcase Richmonde's sophistication, wit, and charm. Combining elements of pop, comedy, jazz, and erotic easy listening, Girlesque remains a popular choice for parties, much like its predecessor. With expert mastering by Grammy-nominated engineer Jessica Thompson, this reissue not only preserves the album's relevance but also enhances its sonic brilliance, inviting you to indulge in another masterpiece of the past.
Review: Hungarian jazz guitarist Gabor Szabo released some mighty fine music during his lifetime, including a string of brilliant albums on Impulse in the mid 1960s. By 1968 he'd left the legendary jazz imprint, but the quality of his releases just kept improving - as this reissue of key album "Dreams" proves. Naturally his fluid, partially improvised, often bluesy electric and acoustic guitar solos feature prominently throughout, bobbing and weaving around atmospheric backing tracks that variously mix and match elements of jazz, folk, South American rhythms, folk-rock, flamenco and gypsy-jazz. It's a brilliant, often awe-inspiring musical blend.
Review: The roots of Wilderness America lie in the burgeoning environmental movement of the mid-70s, when Emily DeSpain Polk reached out to David Riordan to pull together a project that would help fund conservation projects. The results when Riordan teamed up Peter Scott to create this nature-minded concept album were stunning, but the album only received a limited distribution in the tradition of private press releases. As such, it's since become a holy grail for collectors which finally gets the release it deserves via EBALUNGA!! From the sweet, funky lilt of vocal tracks like 'Metropolis' to moody instrumentals like 'Flight of The Egret', the quality is unerring and more than worthy of this faithful reproduction.
