Blame - "Robot Revolution" (6:04)
Sync Dynamix - "Don't Give Up" (6:43)
Flatliner - "Desire" (6:29)
Review: Good 2 Go bite down hard into 2024 with a brand new series entitled Steel Circuit Chronicles. A concept that sounds as good as its title suggests, we kick off with this exceptional deep jungle triple-header. The legendary Blame takes the lead with the percussive slab of drama that is 'Robot Revolution', a cut that packs some serious layered drum welly. He's backed up all the way by two more impressive individuals; G2G bossman Lee Croucher dons his Sync Dynamix alias for the atmospheric dream 'Don't Give Up' while mid 90s Ram artist Flatliner ends his own hazy, cosmic twist to conclude the EP. Timeless and stunning.

Review: Rupture is dropping a couple of special 12"s this month, and this purple marbled slab is one of them. It's a split between two bona fide studio wizards that kicks off with the ever excellent Netherlands producer Coco Bryce on 'Mantra. As ever it is a meticulously designed sound with precision tooled breakbeats creating a cacophony below ambient pads and atmospheric vocals. On the flip is the minimally minded bass and techno talent Forest Drive West with a lithe jungle workout packed with next level sound designs and intricate drums.

Fre4knc - "Tradecraft" (5:41)
Review: Belly button deep into 2016 and Noisia serve up the second Invisible VA EP of the year. Once again, it's a range of old friends and new. And while the first VA session focused primarily on halftime inventions, this one is straight up D&B: Current Value takes the lead with harrowing cries over an industrial strength groove, Aussie newblood Dauntless lays down a lean Silent Witness-style design, Russian/English partnership Kije & Jay Mythix get wobblesome on the drums while Fre4knc delivers a classic subby roller with just enough twisted FX to keep it future. Yet another immaculate curation.

Aeon Four & FFF - "Look Inside" (6:30)
Fanu - "Green Fields Forever" (5:09)
Esc & Mineral - "Photosynthesis" (6:14)
Review: On a mission to "make d&b great again", Finland's Straight Up Breakbeat pass through once more with the second of three EPs formed to showcase modern junglism. Kicking off, 'Mystery Machines' sees Glastonbury's Dead Mans Chest slam down some deadly amen choppage reinforced by haunting vocal FX and paranoid drones. Aeon Four & FFF's 'Look Inside' is a jungle-tekno roller, served with chunky hardcore style amens and a side of warm old-skool pads. Keeping the mid-90s vibe alive, the tripped out 'Green Fields Forever ' from Fanu - which drops hot on the heels of his greatly received remaster of Source Direct's 'Stars' - delivers airtight amen trickery, weaving synth washes and blissful dubby basslines. Esc & Mineral round things off with 'Photosynthesis', a pensive stepper highlighting cut-up breaks waltzing with cheeky synth nudges and a wide, rugged bassline. If the pioneers had buried some beefed-up tracks in a time-capsule to inspire future generations, they would probably sound a lot like 'States of Art II'.

Introduction (1:06)
Thesis (5:34)
Premis I (3:54)
Premis II (5:12)
Conclusion (5:21)
Review: If you're in the mood for some industrial-strength dancefloor experiments and lo-fi workouts saturated with noise, this collaboration from old studio buddies Felix Krone and Yu Aseada AKA Ena should hit the spot. It's an altogether more foreboding and paranoid beast than their previous joint excursion, hence the new "F&E" alias. After offering up a decidedly dystopian ambient intro, the duo slowly cranks up the pressure via the industrial dub techno/electro fusion of "Thesis" and the crackling lo-fi techno crustiness of "Premis I". "Premis II" offers a more percussive and rolling take on the same murky blueprint, while "Conclusion" is a suitably hypnotic chunk of dub techno.

You Got Me (5:54)
Review: What a winning combo this was. Two very well respected artists from the first generation of jungle d&b pioneers Alex Reece and Wax Doctor AKA Jazz Juice AKA Lunar Funk AKA Unit 1 AKA Fallen Angels, an act responsible for a modest body of work on Creative Wax throughout the 90s including these two gems from 95. 'Frequency' was a benchmark sci-fi tear-up at the time and remains just as breath-taking to this day. 'You Got Me' is a little icier in its charm. Stripped back and mystical, there's so much space between the elements you might get lost inside. Angelic.

Nice Time (mix) (4:00)
Review: James Grant Stephens was Kemet, a key player in the mid-90s drum & bass scene and someone who knew how to lay down a slaying riddim. His Agony/Nice Time release from 1994 sure is fun with its old school stoner samples, frequent changes of pace and general party vibes. The A-side, 'Agony', features dialogue from the TV show Unexplained Mysteries as well as scintillating breaks and dubwise breakdowns. On the flip, 'Nice Time' is more sweet and heady, with vocals from Scientist's 'Your Teeth in My Neck' stitched into some badman bass and icy percussive lines.

Stop Pushing
Bonus (Dud Plate mix)
Review: Time for another reissue from the mighty Kemet, one of the sturdiest pillars of the original jungle foundations. Here we find them celebrating the contributions and pure skill of James Stephens' FOI alias with this champion slab from 1994. 'Champion Of Champions' brings a strong sense of triumph before murking you up with the vocal layers and cut-glass edits. Deeper into the EP we hit version central as the other two cuts utilise elements of 'Champions' in different ways; 'Stop Pushing' comes with the big euphoric blasts while the Bonus Dud Plate gives a different twist again. Pure entertainment.

Review: Finnish breaksmith Fanu and US OG Mister Shifter hit the Dispatch Dubplates series together with a clutch of originals and remixes. Fanu takes the lead with the graceful and breezy 'Reverse Dawn' before Mister Shifter ups the grit factor with the abrasive airs and graces of 'The Kingpin'. Flip for more delights as the Shifty one flips 'Reverse Dawn' into a more heads-down late night affair before his VIP of 'That Dreama Track' brings us to a sweet nostalgic breaksy close. Review: Founded by Coventry rave pioneer Neil Trix back in 1992, alongside Gavin Watton, FBD Project were right in the thick of that neon coloured explosion betwixt jungle, rave and hardcore at the time. Rampant on the techno but just big on the emotionals, they caught the right balance between euphoria and energy, especially on these three untitled tracks. Nameless 32 years ago and nameless now, each of these tracks hits the dance with the right balance of mischief, tension and futurism. For badboy DJs.

Review: The North Quarter locks in another superbly stylish EP of functional but characterful drum & bass rhythms here. This one comes from LIN000 and features bunch of self titled tracks. The first is a supper, with fluid bass and low end oscillations. The second is more roomy and cancerous. It operates in an underwater world of bendy bass and crisp hits, then the flip side opens with a more raw, textural and fixing mix of synths and clacking hits before the closer pairs a high speed breakbeat with synths that twist and turn at their own speed.

Review: Flipping fine fixtures right here from man like triple F right here on the double B. Keeping that Blueskin timeless hardcore edge to proceedings, the opening cut 'The Dream' sets a somnambulant scene with breathy pads and layered hypnotic percussion. 'Future Affecting The Present' continues that classic feel but with a really immersive sci-fi twist in a similar way to Krome & Time. Those in need of a harder rave hit will enjoy the hurly burly breakbeat energy of 'Eternal Seekings' while 'The Benefactor' concludes things slowly, softly and cosmically. Triple AAA for FFF.

Recognised as the best live band by AIF, they've been featured on NPR Tiny Desk, Boiler Room, and major festivals like SXSW and Pitchfork. Their debut album, Fongola, received rave reviews, and now they are back with another album that is unlike much else you will have heard. BUTU, which is inspired by Kinshasa's vibrant nightlife, has been proceeded by the lead single 'Mokili.' The album has further cues taken from Kinshasa, Kwaito, and 90s dance music and channels the band's hometown's frenetic energy with a sense of social activism into a powerful statement.

Known for infusing his sounds with diverse influences, the Dutch producer delivers something here that blends elements of dancehall, hardcore, and more. We have no idea what FFF stands for but we certainly knows what he stands for musically as he steps up to ODJ Dizzy's strongarm Finnish platform Straight Up Breakbeat - ice cold broken beat science. 'Answers' will have you asking plenty of questions as he shoves us into a midtempo furnace and cooks us slowly in rave juices. 'Temperature's Rising' continues the theme with added 4x4s and a more stripped back arrangement that builds up into something very sinister indeed.

Review: Myor launch a brand new sister imprint Myor Massiv, and they're doing it in raucous ragamuffin style with double Dutch frontage; FFF ticks both sides of 1992 with the skank-soaked proto jungle era gem "Superhero Can't Trust" while the piano-pimping "Free Your Soul" reminds us of the happier side of hardcore. Flip for two equally heady bone shakers from Coco Bryce; "Deeper and Deeper" is all about the choppy amens and Good Looking pads while "Runnin'" dips a little lower in the tempo to pay homage to the original hardcore sound complete with pitched up vocals and GBH-level mentasms. What a way to launch a new label!

Review: Vinyl Junkie catapults a brand new label into the universe and his intention is loud and clear - Badass authentic jungle craftsmanship for the ages. He's rolling neck deep with kindred soldiers; Radiokillaz and Fleck get wild on the breaks on 'Lakes On Saturn', Riffz dusts off the detuned rave stabs for that aggy hardcore flavour while VJ himself whips up some delightful breakbeat switchery that melts into a dubwise breakdown for momentary respite. Radiokillaz close down the EP with a touch of soul on 'Time Again', a poignant space jazz joint laced with mournful strings and a yearning vocal. Meltdown.

Foreign Concept - "Japur" (Villem remix) (5:00)
Kodo - "The Jackal" (dBRIDGE remix) (5:39)
Review: Ingredients; one of those special labels that unleashed a whole league of new talent just when the scene needed it. Artists like Dub Phizix and Skeptical both came through the Ingredients ranks. As did Foreign Concept who got the remix treatment from man-of-the-moment Villem back in 2014. The results have matured well and still mirror the broad but minimal style that's dominant today. dBridge's remix of Kodo's 'The Jackal' came from the same time and hits with a tense, sinister Quarantine style two-step. Seven years old and still hitting hard; that's testament to Ingredient's nose for a good chef. Let's hope we see a full return from the label.

Review: Forest On Stasys takes the plunge here and launches a new label, Aura Sonora, which debuts with a hugely limited and high-quality new 12" from the boss. The imprint will be "a platform designed for sound experimentation" and the first missive backs that up with a great blend of drum & bass, half-time and techno. 'Magnetismo' is a prickly opener with slippery rhythms underpinned by bold bass. 'Domo' is a darker sound with menacing low ends and prickly percussive patterns while 'Sideral' is another late-night prowler with low sling sounds, eerie atmospheres and a real sense of futurism. A great start to life for Aura Sonora.

It is a fiery one which finds the producer taking aim for peak time dance floors on both sides of the 12". It carries on in his usual style of mixing up the light with the dark as he rewires contemporary drum & bass. 'Dark Assemble' is a jostling, raw, percussive, intense workout that never lets up and is in constant flux, then the flip side explores a more deep, downtempo vibe with cavernous bass, silky synths and cosmic rays smeared across the mix. Fitting titled 'Mixed Salad', it captures that exciting moment of rave mutation going on in the UK in the first half of the 90s. 'Confusion Repeat' brings the temper and joy of acid house to the energy and darkness of hardcore while 'Going To Lose Control' is a fantastic transitional tool with a rasping acid line and a rising tempo that matches the hectic hurly burly fluctuations in speed of the time which are still relevant now to a lot of creative DJs. Finally we have the immense breakbeat weapon 'Love Of The Bongos' which captures the spirit of proto jungle techno. More than enough for you five a day.

Now they're back on Sub System with 'Pressure', a rowdy slice of D&B with some lively sampling that has all the Akai crunch you could wish for. Teego opens up with the high speed 'Plenty Lovin' with its slamming drums and ragga vocal. Review: Fanu is Finland's and perhaps the world's finest break-beat splicer and re-imaging doctor. His programming, layering, and arrangements of classic break-beats are truly some of the most innovative and by far the most realistic sounding - akin to a jazz drummer with no boundaries and seventeen available drum kits at once. Bill Laswell is the grammy award winning producer of Herbie Hancock, bassist and arranger extraordinaire. Fresh off the amazing Method of Defiance record 'Inamorata', he's completed this follow up recording, on the Ohm Resistance label, which also features Parliament Funkadelic keyboardist Bernie Worrell and Norwegian trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer prominently. If you took the electric period of Miles Davis, with less repetition, more funk, and mad scientist drummer, you might end up halfway to 'Lodge'. Half time vamps swing with steady funk bass from Laswell and one of Bernie Worrell's most inspired keyboard performances since PFunk, 'Lodge' turns it out with much more emphasis on the groove. Bits of drum n bass and floating trumpet maneuver over the core modular pieces; a much less harsh sound than the Method of Defiance project, more demonstrative of the soul of Laswell's funktronics.
