Review: When it comes to warming, summery, life-affirming live blends of house and disco, Italian twosome Micky More and Andy Tee are in a league of their own. If you think that's a bold claim, we'd suggest checking out the clips of the duo's latest two-tracker, which features the talents of long-serving house vocalist Angela Johnson. On side A, they deliver a killer cover of Stevie Wonder classic 'Do I Do', replaying (and beefing up) the original groove and smothering it in classic instrumentation - think bass, drums, electric piano, synths and a warming horn section. It's a wonderfully cover all told. Over on the flip they deliver a future classic of their own - a horn-heavy, disco and soul-fired organic house number called 'Not Your Average Kind'.

Review: Although they've been serving up high-grade blends of disco, funk, soul and house for some time, it's only in recent years that many of Micky More and Andy Tee's most potent productions have made it to wax. The two tracks here, which first appeared digitally in the middle of the last decade, are fine examples. 'I'm Another Man' is heavy, raw and impactful, with the pair adding rolling house beats to a horn-heavy deep funk song complete with gravelly male lead vocals. Over on the flip, 'Night Cruiser' is their (successful) attempt to make (and update) a Vincent Montana style, Salsoul disco instrumental with added house chops. Keep an ear out for the Roy Ayers style vibraphone solo that drops midway through.

Review: More splattered translucent green and black vinyl action from Groove Culture, the in-house imprint of Italian disco, house and jazz-funk fusionists Micky More and Andy Tee. As usual, there's a celebratory, party-starting feel to both tracks, with lead vocals from some genuinely legendary singers only adding to the 'bona-fide peak-time bangers' flavour on show. A-side 'Celebrate', with Kathy Brown and Shree Hicks, starts off as a rolling, bass heavy mid-tempo disco-house number, before the pair introduce some killer disco strings to take it closer to "revivalist disco" territory. 'So Wide Open', with Angela Johnson on lead vox, continues this trend, wrapping punchy horns, disco strings, Bernard Edwards style bass and Nile Rodgers-esque guitar licks around a chunky house groove.

Review: The latest must-check release from Micky More and Andy Tee's Groove Culture label dials down their usual groovy disco-house vibe in favour of a more expansive orchestrated disco sound (think Salsoul Orchestra), made in cahoots with DJ Meme Orchestra and topped off with a fine lead vocal from long-serving dance music chanteuse Angela Johnson. You'll find the original mix and the duo's own dub - a more groove-based affair that makes great use of a surging horn break - on the second side, with two headline-grabbing on the first. Danny Krivit delivers a typically well executed and club-ready 're-edit', while Da Lukas offers a heavier and more percussive rework that should please house-heads and disco freaks alike.

Review: Sultry purist disco house moods from Groove Culture Italy, welcoming four standalone originals to the first edition of their 'Groove Is In The Heart' series, three out of four of which are remixes of tunes that have already been released on the label. True to their form, this record welds the ways of classic disco and disco-house, opening with the melismatic vocal tones of 'Ease My Mind' by Fleur De Mur before moving into the slightly slower chic-funk of Derrick McKenzie and Angela Johnson's 'On My Way Out'. Things turn housier - as the outdoor shindig moves indoors at first sign of the crepuscular tide - with 'My Prayer', while House Freakers' 'Tease Me' rounds things off on a well-sidechained womper.
