Review: Your man Calvin Harris popped up with a pretty slick 12" featuring three remixes of his prodigal "We'll Be Coming Back". The original is a twisted, club-rooted pop track with the voice of Harris himself, of course. Michael Woods gives it a euro-house, ringing them big piano keys like there's no tomorrow! On the flip, Jacob Plant is all about the electro and it's not hard to imagine this track on a sunny day, blasting through endless car radios. Killsonik also dose his thing but it involved the word dub and features some heavy steps - you get the picture!
Review: Ed Banger favourite and electro-synth-pop demi-god, Breakbot saw his "One Out Of Two" track remixed by a healthy squadron of electronic artist this year. First up it was Oliver, who painted a fascinating disco-not-disco portrait of the original. Sneak Dream went all ape shit on everyone, forming a solid and tenacious tech house groove with a thumping good kick! There's also the original of "Programe" included here, a summery pop track with subtle hints of electro; and finally, Get A Room plant a serious electro bomb, one that explodes and releases its ferocious synth on yo ass...!
Review: Voted the most air-guitar inciting track from their album Audio Video Disco, "New Lands" got the treatment from Falcon, A Trak and SebastiAn. While none of the takes require anywhere near as much air instrument frivolity, they all add a lot more dancefloor welly. Falcon goes for the rolling, filtered French funk approach, A Trak opts for an more abrasive, angular electro cut while Sebastian adds some much needed drama by opening with a long half step entry before breaking into the groove mid way. And there's a live version too! Very nice.
Italian Fireflies (Arnaud Rebotini Rave Detroit dub remix)
Italian Fireflies (Richy Ahmed & Corey Baker remix)
Italian Fireflies (Hey Today! remix)
Review: Now down to a trio (having lost Ivan Smagghe and David Shaw along the way), Black Strobe revisit their delightful 2004 electro romp "Italian Fireflies". Standing the test of time (like most of their stuff), if you've not got it in your collection, now is the time. Naturally there's some fresh remix action, and naturally, it's rather good. Our favourite is Richy Ahmed & Corey Baker's reversion that sounds authentically old school but with crisp contemporary production values. But don't stop there; Arnaud Robotini's Detroit mix packs a mean punch and Hey Today!'s slo-mo electro is well worth your ears too.
Review: The album that everybody is talking about. 'Sexuality' is produced by Sebastien Tellier, alongside Daft Punk's half Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo.
