Review: It's been almost five years since Maya Jane Coles last released an album under her given name (though there was one as Noctural Sunshine three years ago), so Night Creature is long overdue. In keeping with her previous approach to albums, the sound of the set is not as sharply peak time focused as her EPs, with a greater sense of immersive atmospherics, songs aplenty, a wider palette of electronic sounds and a decent number of slower, more ethereal instrumentals included to offer listeners a little breathing space. As a result, Night Creature is arguably her most well-rounded set yet, which is an impressive achievement considering how much work she put into it (Coles wrote, produced, engineered and mixed it all).

Review: Issued last year, Maya Jane Coles second album Comfort further established the producer's burgeoning talent for crafting genuine songs as well as supple, late night house music. Strangely given her chosen vocation, Comfort was never released on vinyl so it's great to see Ms Coles label I/AM/ME come through with a deluxe double LP edition. Those who didn't check Comfort first time round will be rewarded with plenty of music that conform to her tech-tinged, atmospheric deep house blueprint as well as some woozy, shuffling, downtempo pop songs featuring guest spots from Catherine Pockson of Alpines, Miss Kittin, Tricky and Karin Park. Maya Jane Coles fans familiar to its charms now have the chance to experience Comfort on heavyweight vinyl!

Review: Last time Maya Jane Coles dropped an album, her digital-only eponymous debut on 1Trax back in 2010, she was still on the up. Now, she is firmly established as something of a star; not only as a DJ, but as a producer in demand. Comfort, her second set, is something of a slow-burn special. As well as tracks that conform to her tech-tinged, atmospheric deep house blueprint, it also features a number of woozy, shuffling, downtempo pop songs. It's these, such as the impressive "Come Home" and "Comfort", which fully display her development as a producer and songwriter, placing her soothing vocals right at the centre of the action.

Review: Lifted from her vocal-rich Comfort LP from earlier in the year, Maya Jane Coles brings "Burning Bright" to the 12" format with the croon from Kim Ann Foxman intact and ready for some remixers. The original's emotive, pop-inflected deep house contrasts with new track "No Stick", which finds Coles' curious blend of minimal percussion, acid bass and cheeky sampling whipping up a surefire and leftfield club track. On the remix front, Citizen drops a spacious take on "Burning Bright" that reduces the vocal down to a rhythmic element and lets a dubby sensibility take over the track. Joyce Muniz meanwhile embraces the vocal and weaves a charming, light deep house track around it.
