Review: Initially released digitally in the autumn of 2021 to promote his forthcoming (and now recently released) comeback album Reborn, 'Renegade' is as good an advert for Kavinsky's sparkling, synth-heavy trademark sound as you'll find. Featuring soulful, autotune-sporting vocals from Cautious Clay, the song is evocative, uplifting and pleasingly catchy, with just the right balance musically between original 1980s electrofunk sounds and the kind of sci-fi seeped electronic colour associated with Daft Punk's soundtrack to TRON: Legacy. This vinyl version also contains Kavinsky's instrumental mix of the track, which deftly highlights the quality of his composition and production.

Review: There was much online chatter when Kavinsky - real name Vincent Belorgey - recently announced the release of Reborn, his first album in nine years. He did that by sharing the video to one of the set's highlights, 'Zenith', a 'prequel' to his 2009 breakthrough single 'Nightfall' featuring vocals from the Do's Prudence and Justice collaborator Morgan Phalen. Glossy, synth-heavy, stylish and full of eyes-closes soft rock synth solos, it's representative of the Italians Do It Better style revivalist '80s synth-pop sound that marks out 'Reborn'. It's a glroiusly shiny and colourful sound, with some of the other highlights - such as the album's other single, 'Renegade' - also making use of killer electrofunk basslines and squelchy lead lines.

Review: There's always something truly authentic about a Kavinsky track, even if they are rooted in a half-borrowed nostalgic electronica that today is commonly mined and, at the lowest end of the spectrum, lacking in any really new ideas. Reborn once again looks to remind us that robots can get sad, or at least reflective, too, at some point in a near future somehow also now confined to memory.

Shades of Aim's Drum Machines & VHS Dreams, the Drive movie soundtrack, Duran Duran, and, from where we're sitting and only just audible, sting, wrapped in a kind of Metronomy cleanliness. Melancholic but never drab, emotional and resonant, machine funk meets human voice in a blissful pop symphony anyone with ears will find difficult to switch off. Thankfully, then, you don't actually have to.

Review: Reborn is Kavinsky's first album in nine years. The self-styled "zombie who came back from the dead after his Testarossa crashed in 1986" was chosen to open Daft Punk's iconic Alive tour in 2007 and in 2011 he produced a track with the band's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo which went on to become the title for the cult classic movie Drive. He has since put put his own album and collaborated with The Weeknd and now comes his second album recorded at the famous Motorbass studio in Paris. It features big singles 'Zenith' and 'Renegade' and takes an epic trajectory.

Review: After his debut release with remixes from Arpanet and Mr Oizo, Kavinsky is back! Killed in a car crash back in 1986, Kavinsky is now a zombie in need of revenge. This record, released on Record Makers, is the story of his first steps in the world of the living dead. Three powerful and original tracks and a Sebastian remix. A bloody good one too.

Review: Kavinsky's "Testarossa Autodrive" could be easily described as heroic house. A Fierce, edgy, powerful track that is getting the remix treatment from Mr Oizo. Once again, expect the unexpected, but you can dance to it! To complete the package, find a remix from Detroit based Arpanet. "Arpanet Nightdrive" is a must for true electro lovers. Tip!
