Review: Boston-based independent record label Run For Cover started out in 2004 on a small loan of 1000 dollars when its founder Jeff Casazza was merely 17 years old. Not losing sight of what attracted people to the label in the first place - boutique runs of vinyl with a DIY aesthetic in limited numbers - this Anxious album is a must for collectors. In a beautiful black and yellow splatter, it's eye-catching, but importantly it sounds incredible. The Connecticut band's brand of emo and melodic hardcore took the scene by storm with the release of their debut LP Little Green House in 2022 and this second album of theirs is certain to see their stock rise. Their trick to sounding current has been to blend elements that are familiar to their scene - the likes of Taking Back Sunday and Jimmy Eat World - and add atypical flourishes, with the likes of Beach Boys, The Smashing Pumpkins and Animal Collective cited. The result is something that bridges the gap between scenes and encourages fans who may previously have felt emo and hardcore is not for them to dive into it and come out realising it's one of the most loving and open-minded spaces in rock.
