Review: Former City launch what will presumably be new various artist sears here with Volume 1 of Ghettoboom. It features two tracks each by three different artists on a super limited 12" that has a healthy dose of streetwise swagger. There are rave samples and big breaks on 1905's 'Recorddeals' while DJ Pirna gets for a more soul soothing and loved up vocal vibe on his super sweet bumper 'Booty Snapper. Bringing a third different sound is 'Get Your Head Bust', a high speed, lo-fi techno cut with turbo claps. The flip also features footwork style club tracks, lush deep house and urgent floor pumpers. Review: Some six years after debuting via a deliciously angular and energetic EP from Jaquarius and Mono-Enzyme 307, the Acid Avengers imprint notches up release number 20. Like most of the label's EPs, it's a multi-artist affair. Sometime Balkan Vinyl and Bass Assault artist Acidulant handles side A, bouncing between rushing, piano-sporting 1992 hardcore revivalism ('Super Rave'), sub-heavy deep electro haziness ('Save The Last Rave') and throbbing, arpeggio driven trance/breakbeat techno fusion ('Hauz Trax'). Voiron, who last graced the label back in 2016, takes over on the flip. The Paris-based producer first fuses glistening, spacey melodies, twisted acid lines, post-electro beats and dirty bass on 'Bon Kick Voiron', before opting for deep acid house on 'Digital Voiron Workstation' and atmospheric, Orbital-meets-'90s tech-house on 'Sugar Voiron'.

Review: Italian label 4Weed Music is all about music you might want to smoke to, as the title suggests. It's an ever-expanding indie that deals in serious sound system, dub and bass tackle. This new one 'Wonderful was originally produced on the Japan riddim which was composed and arranged by Dread Lion Hi Fi following Japan's 2011 T?hoku Earthquake and the ensuing tidal wave that struck. He wrote it in Italy and it features the line "From Milano Italy to Tokyo Japan" in honour of that over hefty low ends, steely mid-range leads and ricochetting hits. A fat dub is found on the B-side of this release which was for years thought lost until a hard disk turned up the treasure.

Review: Basel-based experimental labels Amenthia Recordings and A Walking Contradiction join forces for their first collaborative release here in the form of the Flash Crash/Hack Crash EP. Both labels are known for pushing boundaries within their close-knit creative circles and this one features Agonis' heavy stepper and Konduku's whirlpool of low frequencies on the Amenthia side, while Lemont continues the low-end, tripped-out vibe. Varuna represents A Walking Contradiction and delivers swampy, slow-motion sounds in their signature style. This release embodies both labels' commitment to daring, unconventional electronic sounds.

Review: Almost 18 months in the making; Derry doyens Q&D return with another beautifully detailed four track edit collection that's limited to 500 presses. Alan Mooney starts with bus with less of an edit and more of a stunning lesson in samplecraft as the ghost of Jacko creeps in and out of the filters. Vincenzo De Bull ups the tempo ante with a big loopy disco house gem while Napoleon conquers any dance with an edit of a Costa Rican disco delight. Review: AntiDEEPressant is a new label that kicks off with a strong cast of contenders exploring interesting facets of the deep house tradition, starting off with the sultry wonder of Lola Allen's "Karma". There's mystery woven in between the African percussion that shapes out her track, and it's a pleasure to get lost in. Millie & Hirsch take a tender approach to Roland D Clark's classic "I Get Deep", while Mateo & Matos push the tempo back up with the jazz-tinged "Idris Rises." Vincent Inc is last on the list, and he cruises in with the slow and strange tones of "Tears Of God".

Review: Detroit's Truth Manifest Records is helmed by Malik Alston, one of the city's principal music producers, vocalists, performers and DJs working in the mode of soulful house. 'Outside Of The Box compiles some of his brightest works into a four track showreel: snappy and happy comes '5th Element', which needs anything but more cowbell (and on which saxophonist Dave McMurray shows off hard). 'What God Has For Me', meanwhile, brings in vocalist Maurissa Rose to back up what might be one of the hardest swung house bits we've heard in years.

Review: 2 Rare West Indian funk tunes, Side A is a version of Gwen McCrae's soul and funk classic "90% Of Me Is You" from Trinidad's finest steelpan band Amral's Trinidad Cavaliers, this tune is seriously rare, originally only pressed in small quantities and sold around the Caribbean. On the flip is a wicked instrumental funk cut by Veriable Reluctance who are actually the Mohawks in disguise !!!

Review: Details Sound is a record label curated and run by Giuseppe Magistro and Matteo Fabbri, that has brought us releases by the likes of Olfactory Nerve, Luca Garino and Klankman. Their latest is this fantastic four track various artist compilation titled The Spirit Of The Age Vol.1. It features Anatolian Weapons with the the steely slow burning aggression of 'A Series Of Changes', label staple A Hand serving up some celestial and contemplative IDM on 'Mode4rn Cage', Gamma Intel's restrained fury as heard on the body bashing bass of 'Note To My Love' and the real stars of the show here - Vactrol Park. The London-based duo giving their very best on the B side with the immersive analogue ritual rites of 'Dense & Ragged'.

Review: Tommy Four Seven's eponymous imprint returns with more bleak and dystopian techno tools of industrial strength grade. Featuring the always ferocious Ancient Methods and the wonky drones of "System", Berlin duo Oake hypnotise you into submission as always with their esoteric imaginary soundtrack entitled "Anaxamines" before Italian producer VSK delivers the EPs finest moment on the rather Surgeon sounding broken techno stomper "Breaking Symmetry". The man himself T47 closes this fine EP out with the shredding body bash of "Dromod" that's mangled up amongst metallic textures, grinding sub bass and generous servings of clipped distortion; business as usual!

Review: OHM is quickly becoming a quality imprint you can count on for techno and dub techno. The ninth addition in the series, it calls for an excellent blend of composers to balance this EP out. Veteran Jamie Anderson collabs with the brilliant Owain K on opener. The 'Aqua Dub' builds a euphoria for late night smiles. Smooth is an understatement on this linear gem. One artist on here that's been making strong appearances on many dub techno labels is the ever-talented Francisco Aguado. 'Balance' is a great tribal transition track for any DJ who can it creatively to build the means to an end. On the second side, Star Dub offers the very addictive and techy 'Forst'. Ending on a high note, the brisk and flighty 'Ever Growing' by Volpe completes the ninth edition in a rapturous mood. If you like deep techno, the OHM series is a must to collect.
