Review: On listening to this new cut by Joey Quinones, one might think he was an old-school lovers' rock crooner, weatherbeaten by age and much soundsystem hugging, but true heads will know he's actually a new artist operating masterfully in an old style. Usually found making sweet soul as a solo artist or with his band Thee Sinisters, this split 7" 45 finds the LA falsetto lending his services to lo-fi reggae on the A side ('For You'), before giving in to instrumental timbres on the B ('On Taitt Street'). Colemine have us sorted on this one; expect a surprising exploration of influences from traditional ska to roots R&B, not formerly explored by the soul staple.
