Review: This is the sort of curiosity we record collectors love: The Satanic Mass: Recorded Live at the Church of Satan is a recording - the first to be released dii- of a Satanic ritual hosted by the high priest Anton Szandor LaVey. It was recorded in 1967 at Church of Satan headquarters, known as The Black House, and includes an audio recording of the baptism of LaVey's daughter, Zeena. There are also excerpts from the cult book that was unpublished at the time - The Satantic Bible - recited by LaVey over music by Wagner, Beethoven and John Philip Sousa. What a treasure!

Review: Leather Strip is the nom de plume of Danish artist Claus Larsen, who first rose to prominence in the EBM and industrial boom of the early 90s. Science For The Satanic Citizen was one of his earliest releases, originally out in 1990 and featuring such cheery titles as 'Zyklon B' and 'What's Hell Really Like?' The music isn't as forbidding as the presentation might seem, coming on like the Ministry and Nine Inch Nails sound of the era when the focus was on gothic synth lines and slamming drum machines, but not quite the sheet metal distortion that would become de rigour further into the 90s.

Review: Liquid Tension Experiment are a prog metal group formed by Dream Theatre's Mike Portnoy who came blazing into public consciousness in 1998 with a hailstorm of wailing solos and bombastic compositions. If you like your tracks extended and labyrinthe, full of big riffs and light on lyricism, this might well be the trip for you. Given the wild prices the sole vinyl pressing from 2008 fetch these days, there's no doubt you'll want to be quick to snap up this monolithic slice of shreddery from some serious talented individuals letting loose on their weapons of choice.

Spanning a whole host of early material, some of which has never before appeared on physical media, this retrospective compilation harks back to recorded and live work by the "family tree" of bands related to Kilmister and Wallis in the early 1970s, with rare numbers also included. Motorhead completists, perk your ears up!
