Review: The Buddha Bar series is one of the most enduring in all of dance music. It made famous the bars of the same name which started in Paris and are now found throughout the world, all with a signature soundtrack of gentle downtempo, jazzy house and stylish Balearic. French label Wagram attempt to pull together some of the very best bits from the very many cosmos over the years onto this one triple pack. And they do a fine job too with nice horizontal sounds from Ravin, Carlos Campos & David Visan, Consoul Training & Pink Noisy and Panjabi Hit Squad amongst many more, all with a nice worldly feel and cocktail-sipping atmosphere.

Review: We love it when French label Wagram puts out another compilation because they are invariably excellent and can every much make your record collection and therefore digging credentials seem maybe a touch better than they are without doing much work yourself. This one, after loads that have focussed on everything form techno to soul to protest songs, is simply called Groove Diggin. It is another sublime los at some red hot and impassioned soul sounds put together with love by some serious diggers. Cortex, The Heads of the Family and more all feature.

Review: We are mightily impressed by the work that the Wagram label has been going of late. In the last few months they have rolled out a seemingly unending number of compilations all with a very different focus. There has been techno, house, hip-hop, soul, funk and many more niches in between. This time they look to Miami funk on a collection of tunes subtitled Funk Gems From Henry Stone Records, which tells you all you need to know. Milton Wright, George and Gwen McCrae, The Jimmy Castor Bunch and many more touchstones of this sound all feature on an uplifting, well assembled and essential comp.

Review: Synthwave, or "outrun" as it is sometimes popularly known, is one of the defining micro-aesthetics of the 21st Century. Cornered then abrogated by filmmakers like Michael Mann and Nicolas Winding Refn, the style was expanded upon in the music imaginary sometime in the early 2010s (though seeds were sown much earlier). This Wagram compilation charts the earliest stirrings in the sound, from the circuit-breaking Moog experiments of Giorgio Moroder through to the nightridden vrooms of Kavinsky, and the fuzz-static analog snows set to sample-funked beats of VHS Dreams.

Review: For this album, Wagram France invited various artists from the jazz scene to pay tribute to the legendary band Pink Floyd by interpreting some of their most famous tunes in whatever style they see fit. All the bands biggest singles are taken on from 'Money' to 'Another Brick In The Wall' via 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Us and Them.' They all sound very different with lively keys dancing over jazzy drums on 'Money', folk style vocals from Bird On A Wire and lush harmonies and heavenly vocals from David Neerman on his version of 'Us & Them.' All in all, a fine tribute indeed.

The latest is Funk Music Gems From Vinyl Diggers with 11 top tunes here that are all gold-standard jams. These are tunes that mix up funk, soul and disco from the 70s and 80s and have been lovingly sought out for your listening pleasure. You may or may not know the tunes in question as they tend towards the lesser-known end of the spectrum and that in part is what makes them so good to hear.

This time out they launch a new series that looks into the rich sounds of Afrobeat, first pioneered by the likes of Fela Kuti and his drummer Tony Allen. Review: It seems like we write about a great new compilation from French powerhouses Wagram every week. This is the latest and it takes aim at trip hop which is the niche sub-genre to emerge from the shadows of hip-hop, firstly in Bristol. Review: Original psychedelic soul gemmery from Milton Wright, as reissued by Wagram. This by-the-book repress follows up a 2015 reissue from Athens Of The North, which was specially noted for its presenting of an 'alternate version' of the album, made up of completely different earlier recordings of each track. Wagram's version, by contrast, pays homage to the 'final' electro-dicso inflected directors' cut - i.e. the first iteration of the album, released in 1975. Slick, high-endy and masterful, tracks like 'Brothers And Sisters' are everything we want and expect from Wright.
