Review: George Btp has many strings to his bow, from his work as Dan Piu to his Allstar Motomusic aliases and his deepArtSounds label. His Zarenzeit band with Robert P has been quietly cruising since the mid 90s, although first surfaced on deepArtSounds in 2016 with the Black Inside album. Now the project returns with a limited 7" release for fellow deep house traveler Dubbyman's Deep Explorer label, and the results are as seductive and subliminal as you would expect. "Before Midnight" fuses swirling galaxies of high end synth work with a snappy electro funk backbeat, which Dubbyman reworks on the flip into one of his trademark deeper than deep dancefloor cuts.

Review: Riding high on the success of their critically acclaimed third album, "The Garden", which entered the charts at No. 4, and a sell out tour, Zero 7 are set to release "You're My Flame". Featuring the dulcet tones of long-time cohort Sia Furler, "You're My Flame" is one of the album's highlights. A sun-roof down tune, it races along at a frolicking tempo, providing a perfect slice of playful, sunny pop. Remixes come courtesy of Justus Kohncke and Detroit's rugged, industrial hip hop producer Dabrye. Fresh from remixing Hot Chip's "Over and Over", Justus is at the forefront of the Berlin music scene and his mix adds a certain club sensibility while retaining the summery spirit of the original. Zero 7 have become a formidable live outfit in recent years and they will be playing at festivals across Europe throughout the summer, before embarking on an extensive tour in the autumn. Both guest vocalists from "The Garden", Sia Furler & Jose Gonzalez, will be performing with them.

Review: Brazilian producer Zopelar brings oodles of South Hemisphere sunshine to his splendid debut outing on Mother Tongue Records. Theer is so much goodness packed into his 7" its a surprise they didn't have to make it 12"s. 'Entre Viagens' is a languid dance with nimble percussion, sun worshiping synths and jazzy broken beats that keep you on your feet. 'Vista' is high class space funk with rugged analogue textures, crispy hits and plenty of Detroit electro funk stylings in the drums. It's a perfect meeting of Brazil, London and the Midwest.
