Effects pedals

There are thousands of effects pedals on offer, with something to suit every budget and every sound. Effects pedals – sometimes called stomp boxes or FX – were originally targeted at guitar players, but now there are options for everyone, including pedals designed specifically for bass guitars, synths and vocals. Old-school effects pedals were typically simple analogue effects like distortion, overdrive, fuzz, wah and flangers. Modern pedals might also include digital processing, unlocking complex reverbs, delays, loopers and modulation effects like chorus. Electronic producers should look out for pedals which can handle line-level signals, making it easier to hook up synthesisers, modular synths, drum machines, samplers and other pro studio equipment. Some pedals even offer stereo inputs and outputs, meaning you can use them on true stereo signals. Whether you’re looking for a cheap, high-quality distortion or a boutique multi-effects unit, there’s something for everyone.

Walrus Audio Canvas MIDI Clock Pedal
Cat: 1075384 Rel: 19 Mar 25

Sync all your time-based devices, seamlessly move through preset setlists, and simplify tempo matching with the Canvas Clock
Notes: Sync all your time-based devices, seamlessly move through preset setlists, and simplify tempo matching with the Canvas Clock! Designed for any kind of rig you throw at it and deeply customizable, users can put their full trust in the Clock to be an all-in-one tempo solution for their board.

The Canvas Clock can interface to any device in your rig that accepts clock signal, whether MIDI, (via the 1/8 in or 5-pin MIDI ports) or analogue (via the 1/4 in jacks). Clock will send time signals for both MIDI and analogue devices, and will continue to do so as you move through your song list or manually adjust the tempo. As you edit, save, and recall songs in real-time or via the online editor at walrusaudio.io, Clock will send your specific settings for whichever song you are currently on out to all of the time-based devices you are connected to.

Customize your Clock

The four 1/4" in jacks aren't just for sending tempo. They can each be assigned one of four functions:

Tempo Out - Connect to any pedal or device that accepts external tap inputs or analogue time controls (ex: Walrus' Arp-87 Delay or Monument Tremolo). Canvas Clock can send analogue clock and MIDI clock at the same time. No more relying on your feet to keep perfect time.

CV (Control Voltage) Out - Control any device that accepts CV. Good for Analog Synths, Drum Machines, or similar devices.

Switch Input - Each jack can be configured to receive input from two external footswitch controls. The switches are connected to the Tip (left) and Ring (right) of the associated 1/4 in jack. These can be assigned to many functions available on the pedal with the ability to add more options via a software update.
Expression In - Connect an expression pedal, and use it to send a MIDI CC message out to a pedal connected to the Clock. The "Toe Down" and "Heel Down" values can be adjusted to fine-tune the controlled parameter range. Use this to adjust the mix of a reverb or the depth of a tremolo (via MIDI out).

Footswitches

Footswitches for the Clock are customizable. Eliminate the "bending over between songs to make adjustments portion of a set" by assigning one of the onboard functions to the A and/or B switches:

-Advance to the next song
-Go back to the previous song
-Advance to the next setlist
-Go back to the previous setlist
-Toggle the metronome start and stop
-Global tap tempo

Sync

The "Sync" jack found on top of the pedal can be set in two ways:
-Input - Great for accepting BPM from an external source.
-Output - Great for syncing external devices, such as a Eurorack device, a Roland Volca Synth, and many other devices.
Some external devices send/receive clock signals that are "double" the standard timing signals, so Walrus included the option to send/receive a 1x or 2x signal, depending on the specific device's needs. Users can also determine the subdivision of the BPM to send out.

Metronome

If active, the Clock metronome can be heard via the MET OUT port at the top of the pedal. This signal can be sent to a front of house console for live gigs or a monitor for practicing. Metronome type, volume, and accent note controls can all be edited in the Metronome Menu.

Songs

There are 128 "Song" slots available to users in the Canvas Clock. You can think of each song as an editable preset where you can adjust the song name, meter, BPM, MIDI Macros, and metronome start or stop. Once your song is edited to your liking, every time it is recalled it will operate just the way you set it!

Setlists

Keeping your songs organized is crucial for live sets, which is why with the Clock, songs can be grouped together and navigated through easily using the Setlist feature. Once you access setlist settings, you can select songs from your master song list to curate and reorder in the way you'd want them for a gig or practice. Once your setlist is saved and active, going through the setlist in real-time will recall these songs and all their settings in the order you curated them for that setlist.

MIDI Macros

For the MIDI-minded players who may want further control over their rig, there are standard MIDI commands that can be triggered when you recall songs with the Clock. MIDI Macros allow users to create one or a series of MIDI CC or PC messages that get sent out of the Canvas Clock when a specific song is recalled. Users have 128 adjustable Macros with 15 messages per MIDI Macro, which can be useful in further dictating how you want your MIDI devices to behave during certain songs, (ex: bypassing some pedals but engaging others).

Walrusaudio.io

While you can edit and customize your Canvas Clock settings using the menu on the pedal, users can also connect the pedal to a computer via the USB-C port and customize their Clock with the Canvas Clock Editor web-app. Quickly and easily set up songs, edit your Setlists, edit MIDI Macros, and more. Firmware updates will also be available via this site as well.

Strymon EC-1 Single Head dTape Echo Effects Pedal
Cat: 1074276 Rel: 10 Mar 25

Experience the dreamy sound of a classic '60s tape echo complete with the harmonic richness of the accompanying tube preamp
Notes: The legendary Strymon deliver quality goods once again with this analogue-inspired stereo delay. Single head sound gives a classic 60s vibe with modulation and subtle imperfections.

Supplier's Notes:
Experience the dreamy sound of a classic '60s tape echo complete with the harmonic richness of the accompanying tube preamp. Enjoy organic and ethereal modulation produced by countless subtle mechanical imperfections, and easily dial in anything from warm slapback to expansive echo feedback beds with a strikingly gorgeous stereo image. With beautifully-tuned low frequency response, lush tape saturation and sublime echo decay, EC-1 provides all the best of what a tube driven tape echo can deliver.

EC-1 offers impressive power and flexibility in a small and elegant form factor: Selectable tube-modeled preamp voices. Artifact-free tap tempo. Discrete stereo operation for independent processing of the left and right stereo inputs. Straightforward controls and expression pedal capability. High-impedance, ultra-low noise discrete Class A JFET stereo input preamp for exceptional touch sensitivity, dynamics and feel. MIDI control of tempo, patch save/recall and more. Premium components, rugged construction and a USB jack for performing firmware updates or controlling the pedal from a computer.

Featuring meticulous tube modeling techniques, EC-1 offers a choice of two authentically reproduced preamp circuits that lend a subtle vintage character to your input signal. One is based on the classic EP-2 tube preamp and features an enhanced high-end shelf perfect for brightening up darker humbuckers. The other preamp option (the default setting) produces a warm, balanced response based on the modded preamp circuit in the EP-2 unit that we studied during the development of EC-1. This option adds a pleasing sense of heft, especially to single-coils. Both preamp choices offer an optional boost of up to +6dB, or the preamp can be bypassed for an unprocessed dry signal if desired.

Strymon's unique dTape technology was first developed for El Capistan, and they have expanded on it to reproduce all the inspiring nuances weencountered while studying a recently-acquired tube Echoplex that was in uncommonly superb condition. Our dTape system allows precise replication of every aspect of every tape echo we've studied, and in EC1 this includes the effect of the moving head, the tape condition, the bias setting, the mechanical effects of motors, capstan slippage and all the irregularities that add up to create the unmistakable, inspiring sound of vintage tape echo repeats.

Whether you want the cleanest repeats, subtle fattening or even downright dirty echos, you can instantly dial in the desired amount of tape saturation with the flip of a switch. Providing pleasing tonal shifts from thinner to fatter, EC-1's three-way Record Level toggle switch selects the gain of the signal fed into the virtual record head. Choose the low position for unity gain with optimized bias for the cleanest repeats, medium for a 6dB input signal boost with increased bias for slightly saturated repeats, or high for a 12dB input signal boost with further increased bias for heavily saturated repeats. This control also gives you a fast and easy way to match EC-1's response to your input signal level to obtain the desired sound from any pickup type or pedalboard configuration.

For EC-1, fluctuations from motors and mechanical components were thoroughly studied to accurately capture their imperfections. At the lower end of the Mechanics control's range only slower motor-related wow and flutter are present, but at around one o'clock these fluctuations are reduced in favor of faster disturbances from crinkle, splices, and capstan slippage which accurately replicate the sound of our golden EP-2 unit. This setting can create uniquely reverberant and three-dimensionalechos that spread across the stereo spectrum. The slower fluctuations are mixed back in more prominently as you approach the maximum Mechanics setting, and the unique combination of multiple imperfections create truly gorgeous, organic stereo modulation effects unlike anything you've ever heard.

The frequency characteristics of tape echo repeats are determined in part by the bandwidth of the actual tape stock, so older tapes will have a lower bandwidth with a warmer top end. EC-1 allows you to faithfully reproduce these characteristics by turning up the Tape Age knob for warmer repeats, or turning it toward minimum for the full-bandwidth sound of fresh tape.

EC-1 is designed to allow high levels of repeats that are truly lush but that don't spiral into uncontrollable feedback. That wide sweet spot on the edge of runaway feedback can create intriguing sound beds under your lead or rhythm playing. Of course if you want to crank the Repeats control to maximum and play with the unique pitch effects that only a sliding record head tape echo can produce, those effects are all precisely replicated in sound and response.

Mooer Audio Prime M2 Intelligent Multi-Effects Pedal (silver)
Cat: 1083542 Rel: 09 Apr 25

Multi effects pedal with 194 effects models.
Notes: Intelligent multi-effects from Mooer, the Prime M2 is a compact, convenient pedal compatible with the Mooer Prime mobile app, Mooer Studio desktop software and the Mooer Cloud tone-sharing platform.

Supplier's Notes:
Over the last few years, MOOER has released several Prime multi-effects devices, including the Prime P1, P2, S1, and most recently in 2024, the Prime Minimax M1. Excitingly, the company is kicking off 2025 with a brand new addition to the Prime family-the Prime Minimax M2 Intelligent Pedal.

Within this small multi-effects device, a whole lot of functionality is packed in, including an impressive 194 effects models, including overdrive, preamp simulators, cabinet models, delays, reverbs, modulation effects etc., and more. In typical MOOER style, though, the company took things a step further by offering limitless flexibility through the support of its in-house MNRS sample files, as well as third-party IR sample files. Essentially, this means that users can download additional tonal emulations and effects from the MOOER Cloud and third-party sources to the device, which they can then save across 80 preset slots.

As with some past models in the Prime series, the M2 sports a convenient touchscreen design, facilitating easy browsing through the device's banks of presets. However, guitarists are not limited to interfacing with the pedal in this way, as it also features two footswitches, both of which can be used to switch between presets in each bank. There is even a MIDI jack built into the device, enabling users to connect their MIDI controllers to extend the control functions, and the MOOER F4 wireless footswitch support is also supported. Essentially, these augmentation options facilitate additional footswitches to ensure switching preset tones is always as quick and seamless as possible within any workflow.

While the Prime M2 Intelligent Pedal is primarily designed for effects and tonal simulations, it also comes packed with an array of other useful features. For example, it contains a looping module with a hefty 80-minute capacity, in addition to 10 recording save slots to ensure that any looping creations can be kept for future use in performances. Similar to past looper modules in MOOER's products, users are also free to overdub their recordings and even undo or redo their overdubs, offering a lot of real-time flexibility for creating loop-based musical structures.

As if the addition of a looper wasn't enough, this feature is also synchronizable with an internal drum machine and metronome, a combination that includes 56 drum grooves and 4 metronome varieties. Ultimately, it's a reminder that MOOER clearly recognizes and wishes to solve the struggles that musicians have when attempting to produce precise loops while staying in time. Upon commencing recording, the drum machine can produce four initial beats to serve as a count-in cue, and of course, this can be combined with the device's tap-tempo control for dynamic use. Best of all, this feature can also be applied to modulation and delay effects, ensuring that they work perfectly in time with any performance.

Extra features are included to complete this all-in-one pedal, including a high-precision tuner with fully customizable frequency ranges. Guitarists can even leverage the M2's built-in Bluetooth input support, allowing them to practice, jam, and even produce looped musical structures over their favorite backing tracks, band prototypes, and musical pieces.

Perhaps unsurprisingly for existing MOOER product users, the Prime M2 also boasts an impressive variety of audio routing systems. As was previously mentioned, that includes Bluetooth input, as well as industry standards such as dual-channel stereo output, perfect for stereo delay and modulation effects. It also supports headphone output for those who wish to practice in silence, and even OTG recording, which means that guitarists can record their creations directly to their smartphone whilst on the go.

Speaking of on-the-go, MOOER is continuing its recent portable-play focus with the Prime M2 Intelligent Pedal, as it is fitted with a built-in rechargeable lithium battery with a battery life of up to 6 hours. Ultimately, this means that even a lack of local power sources won't get in the way of rehearsals and live performances. Combined with the pedal's lightweight and small build, it truly is an ideal addition to the pedalboard of any traveling musician.

Overall, the Prime M2 Intelligent Pedal is set to be an impressive new addition to the Prime series. It features augmented functionality when compared to past models, yet still in a minimalist and easy-to-use package, keeping the size small and light yet still packing in footswitches, a touch screen, and other flexible control systems.

Mooer Audio GS1000 Intelligent Amp Profiling Processor Pedal
Cat: 1083549 Rel: 09 Apr 25

Intelligent Amp Profiling Processor.
Notes: In 2025, MOOER has announced that it will be set to release its latest multi-effects pedal, the GS1000 Intelligent Amp Profiling Processor, an augmented intelligent amp profiling processor. Built on MOOER's advanced third-generation digital platform, the GS1000 introduces groundbreaking MNRS 2.0 technology, allowing guitarists around the world to emulate their favorite gear with immense precision -specifically, for distortion pedals, preamps, amplifier heads, and cabinets.

With this innovation, guitarists can fully capture the essence of their favorite guitar gear without owning the physical hardware, enabling them to carry their favorite tones wherever they go. Users are even able to use third-party IRs for cabinets of their choice, further enhancing the flexibility of this feature.

It's unforgettable how much MOOER's multi-effects pedals have impressed audiences so far, primarily thanks to their robust tone libraries. However, even still, the GS1000 continues to build upon this with storage for up to 120 sampling profiles, along with continued integration with the MOOER Cloud app. Essentially, this cloud integration facilitates infinite upload and download possibilities, giving users access to a global community of shared tones, widely expanding the number of accessible tones. More still, the GS1000's previously mentioned third-party IR cabinet simulations support up to 2048 sample points, guaranteeing studio-grade tonal accuracy across the board.

Even more impressive for the price is how the GS1000 inherits the dual-chain effects architecture that made previous MOOER gear so versatile, making it suitable for highly complex usage scenarios. With over 350 factory effects models and a Sub-Patch preset grouping mode, the GS1000 makes it far simpler for users to make seamless transitions between tones, all while maintaining effect tails to guarantee seamless transitions. Additionally, the reintroduction of the innovative AI-driven EQ Master builds upon MOOER devices' previous capabilities, using intelligent adjustments in real-time to match the musical style of players to tones, while still allowing manual tweaks for precise control.

Impressively, the GS1000 also comes packed with a Groove Station module, consisting of a combination of drum machine and looper features - including 56 high-quality drum kits! It offers a 480-second phrase looper with infinite overdubs, automated detection, and synchronization capabilities, resulting in an intuitive platform for solo jamming, composition, and live loop-based performance. Overall, the Groove Station acts as an all-in-one suite for creating full arrangements, without having to depend on additional backing tracks or bandmates.

Visually and functionally, the GS1000 really stands out thanks to its sleek visual design and enhanced user experience. For example, it features a convenient 5-inch high-resolution touch screen, which is also paired with ambient lighting to add a visually stunning element to the pedal. As a result, the GS1000 is not only designed for convenient touch-based control but also as a standout centerpiece in any guitar rig.

In addition to this touchscreen control system, the GS1000 also provides expanded connectivity options, improving upon the already impressive flexibility of past pedals. Most notably, it supports connectivity with the MOOER F4 wireless footswitch, as well as the ability to control presets via external MIDI devices.

As is expected from MOOER these days, the GS1000 also excels when it comes to routing opportunities, going above and beyond the typical stereo 14" inputs and outputs that would be expected from other brands. Yes, it still includes such staples, but it also includes an XLR microphone input, alongside balanced TRS outputs for long-distance signal clarity. The configurable serial/parallel stereo effects loop enables seamless integration of external effects, and the addition of Bluetooth audio input and MIDI compatibility broadens its wide range of use cases for live and practice-based applications.

Furthermore, the pedal also serves as a professional audio solution thanks to its low-latency 2-in/2-out ASIO USB sound card. Supporting up to 192kHz sampling rates, the GS1000 makes recording and live streaming effortless, as it can easily be used with software DAWs, MOOER's editing software, as well as the USB-based MIDI control.

The GS1000 will be available in two versions - the standard white edition, which is powered by mains power, and the GS1000 Li version, which introduces a 7.4V 4750mAh lithium battery, chargeable through its power port. With this upgrade, users can enjoy up to six hours of continuous power-free playtime, making it ideal for practicing, busking, and generally performing on the go.

Overall, for fans of MOOER's previous amp simulation offerings, the GS1000 represents a natural evolution, building on everything that made its predecessors great while introducing cutting-edge features and expanded capabilities. Most importantly, MOOER has promised to continuously update its MOOER 4.0 tonal algorithms on the MOOER Cloud in line with the release, keeping things fresh for the company's dedicated user base.

Noise Engineering Batverb Stereo Reverb Effects Pedal
Cat: 1074016 Rel: 17 Mar 25

Stereo in, stereo out experimental reverb and synthetic tail generator designed for performance and playability.
Notes: Best known for Eurorack synth modules, Noise Engineering's Batverb builds on the brand's extensive experience, offering a performance-focused take on echoes, dynamics and tone.

Supplier's Notes:
Batverb is the stereo reverb that dreams are made of. Taking inspiration from Noise Engineering's famed tail-generating synth modules, Batverb brings reverberation and delay to a whole new level with extensive control of timbre, echoes, and dynamics.

Start by setting a predelay time and adjusting Regen to taste: this will set the length of the tail, from a short slapback-style echo to an infinite wall of reverberation. Add in some chaotic suboctaves with Doom, or some haunting overtones with Shimmer - or both at the same time. If you need to carve the range for your reverb, Batverb has low and high damping settings for the reverb tank. Batverb even has settings for saturation that can be applied to only the reverberant signal, or to the whole output.

Batverb is easy to balance with the rest of the effects in your chain, thanks to its onboard dry/wet Blend control, as well as input and output gain parameters. It also features a unique Duck switch that allows the reverb to duck out of the way of an input signal, or match the dynamics of your playing, similar to a gated reverb.

Batverb was designed to integrate perfectly into your performances. The left switch mutes the input to the reverb and sets the feedback to maximum, creating a wall of sound as long as it's held down. The expression input can also be routed to any parameter on the pedal. Plus, if you're a fan of MIDI, Batverb can store and recall 16 different presets and recall them in response to program change messages.

Batverb is an advanced pedal with state-of-the-art features, but it's incredibly easy to use and immediately fun to play.

Old Blood Noise Endeavors Black Fountain Stereo Characterful Oil Can Delay Effects Pedal (slate finish)
Cat: 1080111 Rel: 27 Mar 25

Characterful oil can delay effects pedal in slate finish
Notes: Black Fountain Stereo Characterful Delay Building on the inimitable Black Fountain, a pedal that put OBNE on the map and for many a favourite always-on device, Black Fountain Stereo is much more than just turning things from mono into stereo. It truly expands Old Blood Noise Endeavors' highly regarded 'oil-can delay' pedal right into a multi-tool.

With a wider control set that's complete with added sonic options, a lower noise floor, dual delay lines that play together in a multitude of ways, presets, MIDI and expression control over everything, Black Fountain Stereo combines a sonic powerhouse of creative delay tones and into a pedalboard friendly package.

Black Fountain Stereo emulates the sound of a spinning oil-can delay. This is a warm, modulated and a little gritty type of tone that's perfect for chorusing, doubling, slap back and long rhythmic delays alike. You choose the amount and rate of modulation, the tone and grit of the core voice, the two delay times and their feedback. Plus, to top it off the mono/stereo voicing of it all can be set exactly as you like and everything can be saved into presets, for easy recall.

The Rate and Depth controls sets the amount of modulation and speed, Tone shapes the warmth of the repeats, while Grit sets the amount of drive in the repeats. To help maintain the clarity of your tone or for more special effects, you can set the mix of volume of either the Dry and/or Wet levels. Space defines the mono delay mode or stereo width and adds diffusion past the noon position.

Separate controls are available for setting the Left and Right Delay Time as well as being able to choose between six subdivisions for each side when holding the Tap footswitch. That little Tap switch (surprise) helps you set the delay repeats in time with your tempo, while holding it down will give for infinite feedback. Optionally, it can also be used as a preset switcher.

Mooer Audio Ocean Machine II Delay/Reverb/Looper Effects Pedal (B-STOCK)
Cat: 1078454 Rel: 01 Jan 90

B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order
Notes: ***B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order***

Excellent value from the updated Mooer delay/reverb/looper. The Ocean Machine II features improved sound quality all round, plus expanded loop memory up to a total of 120 seconds.

Supplier's Notes:
Similarly to the original, the Ocean Machine II offers two independent delay modules, each with nine different delay types of up to two seconds, including household names such as digital, tape, and echo delays, as well as more abstract options, such as galaxy, crystal, and rainbow. A high-fidelity reverb module complements these delays with nine reverb types, as well as a shimmer effect. Each delay and reverb effect can also be 'frozen,' creating static ambient drones, an effect that sounds particularly impressive considering the pedal's DSP upgrades.

While the original Ocean Machine's looping capabilities provided just 44 seconds of loop storage, the new addition features an impressive 120 seconds. To experiment with this feature, along with Ocean Machine II's other sonic capabilities, users can use an intuitive LCD screen along with 12 knobs (four for each delay and reverb module) to easily adjust parameters within the device's 'Play Mode.' Three footswitches are also provided to facilitate independent effect toggling, tap tempo control, looper interfacing, and a preset selector.

Once the guitarist has crafted an interesting effect chain, they can save their work as a preset and enter 'Patch Mode,' in which they can toggle between saved settings with each of the three footswitches. In total, the Ocean Machine II provides eight preset storage banks, each of which supports up to three presets, resulting in a total of 24 save slots.

The pedal's versatility is further enhanced by its programmable parallel and serial effect chain hybrid, a signature element of Devin Townsend's tone creation. This feature allows users to customize the order of effects, providing endless creative possibilities. Further programming options can be accessed through the LED screen, which impressively includes synchronizable MIDI connectivity, a feature that was absent in the original Ocean Machine.

In addition to MIDI, the pedal supports various external control systems, including expression pedal input through a TRS cable. Furthermore, the pedal is compatible with MOOER's F4 wireless footswitch, allowing for extended capabilities for mapping presets and other features. A USB-C port is also available for firmware updates, ensuring that the pedal remains up-to-date with the latest features and improvements.

Considering the experimental nature of Devin Townsend's performances, MOOER has also gone above and beyond to facilitate the seamless integration of Ocean Machine II into any audio setup. The device features full stereo inputs and outputs, as well as adjustable global EQ settings, letting users tailor their sound to suit different environments. Guitarists can also customize their effect chains to be used with true bypass or DSP (buffered) bypass, depending on their preferences and specific use cases.

Overall, Ocean Machine II brings higher quality delay and reverb algorithms, augmented looping support, and various updated connections to Devin Townsend's original device. As per MOOER's typical standard, the pedal is engineered to withstand the rigors of touring and frequent use, allowing guitars to bring their special creations and atmospheric drones to the stage.

EarthQuaker Devices Chelsea Low End Fuzz Driver Effects Pedal
Cat: 1076601 Rel: 11 Mar 25

Fuzz pedal developed with James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem.
Notes: Sometimes pedals can change. Parts drift, pots break, transistors go bad. They go to new homes; they get neglected and resold. Sometimes people get in there and try to revive them to their original state and sometimes they just throw whatever is laying around inside and hope it does the trick. In this case, EQD are pretty sure all the above happened to the fuzz pedal that made its way to James Murphy and ended up finding a forever home with LCD Soundsystem.

Chelsea really does have something special. It's heavy without being too heavy, clean but not too clean. A simple set of controls yet it has an expansive array of tones that makes it very versatile on a wide variety of instruments, has clarity when you need it and can blur all discernable lines when you don't. It still retains the familiar foundation of the classic fuzz it was intended to be, but something special happened to it over the years and it has very much grown into its own thing
