Review: Skeleta marks the sixth full-length from Swedish theatrical goth rock entity Ghost, following on from 2022's retro stadium-goth swing for the fences Impera. Known for their high-concept aesthetic solely credited to mastermind Tobias Forge, who undertakes differing mantles and characters pertaining to each era and project, Papa Emeritus IV who fronted their preceding work has now been replaced by Papa V Perpetua, and while his predecessor was said to have been driven by ruminations on empirical reigns, the latest leader of the band of "Nameless Ghouls" is more concerned with "demonic possessions" and succumbing to "dark forces", with the album promised to be their "most unflinchingly introspective work to date" while showcasing "distinct individual emotional vistas". With big riffs, soaring hooks and a lead single as brazenly titled as 'Satanized', it's time for yet another era of overtly gothic and purposefully cheesy occult-rock.

Review: The first hard rock album to land at Number One on the Billboard 200 in four years, Swedish rock occultists Ghost make their grand return with sixth full-length Skeleta, serving as the highly anticipated follow up to 2022's acclaimed and super camp-by-design stadium-goth rock opus Impera. Still the singular vision of Tobias Forge, renowned for his charismatic vocals and immense versatility, but primarily for his adorning of different guises, characters and monikers for each album cycle, the Papa Emeritus IV who pontificated on empirical fallacies throughout their previous outing has since been usurped by Papa V Perpetua, who along with his band of Nameless Ghouls deliver their "most unflinchingly introspective work to date" while showcasing "distinct individual emotional vistas", touching on "demonic possessions" and the allure of succumbing to "dark forces". In other words, expect a gloomy gauntlet of anthemic riffage, epic refrains, gargantuan levels of cheesy theatricality, and Satanic Panic bell-ringing on-the-nose song-titled such as 'Satanized'.

Review: The extended Wu-Tang Clan universe continues to throw out plenty of great new music at a rate that nerve seems to slow. Next up is Set the Tone (Guns & Roses), a 12th (yes, 12th!) studio album by cult rapper Ghostface Killah, on Mass Appeal Records. Known for his vivid storytelling and raw lyricism, Ghostface brings that once again with a mix of hard-hitting tracks and reflective moments. It features an impressive lineup of guest appearances including Jim Jones, Sheek Louch, Method Man, Raekwon, Nas and Kanye West, among others. With this star-studded collaboration, Set the Tone delivers a dynamic fusion of classic Wu-Tang sound and modern hip-hop ideas that are sure to maintain Ghostface's reputation as a powerhouse in the rap game.

Review: Quebec City-based singer/songwriter Margaux Suave and collaborator/producer Louis-Etienne Santais earned plenty of praise for their first album as Ghostly Kisses, 2022's Heaven, Wait. It framed the project as a new iteration of dream-pop, with the pair drawing inspiration from melancholic synth-pop, downtempo, hazy indie-pop and lo-fi soul. Sophomore set Darkroom continues in this vein while subtly expanding the pair's sonic horizons. Throughout, they shuffle attractively between string-laden trip-hop ('There Is No More Space'), dreamy two-step pop ('Golden Eyes'), slow-motion, Balearic-tinged synth-pop ('Lonesome Hero'), twinkling deep house-pop ('Calm Down') and orchestrated ambient pop ('Silver Screen').

Review: Dark Entries returns with Remote Dreaming, the ambient masterpiece by The Ghostwriters aka Philadelphia duo Buchla master Charles Cohen and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Cain, with proceeds benefitting SOSA (Safe from Online Sex Abuse). Formed in 1971 as Anomali, the duo adopted their Ghostwriters moniker and blended improvisation with structured composition. Following their debut Objects in Mirrors Are Closer Than They Appear, they crafted Remote Dreaming over nine months across various studios. Cain played electric and acoustic pianos, the Juno 106, and the Mirage sampler, while Cohen used his Buchla 200 Series. This double LP has been freshly remastered and includes five additional tracks, four of which are previously unreleased.

Review: Dark Entries are reusing two albums from Philadelphia-based experimental duo The Ghostwriters. their debut as well as this follow-up, Objects in Mirrors Are Closer Than They Appear from 1981. Formed by the late Buchla innovator Charles Cohen and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Cain in 1971, the duo initially performed as Anomali before evolving into The Ghostwriters. Their work is a mix of improvisation and composition and it always stood out for its unique electroacoustic sound shaped through collaborations with visual artists and choreographers. Objects in Mirrors delivers eight minimalist tracks to get stuck into from the chaotic groove of 'Fix It in the Mix' to the ethereal "Moon Chant.' This remastered edition includes photos, and liner notes, and will donate proceeds to SOSA (Safe from Online Sex Abuse).

Review: Texan producer Gi Gi has been quietly doing his thing for some time, serving up limited and self-released albums that blend chopped, screwed and heavily manipulated samples with dusty instrumentation and nods to vintage trip-hop, Balearic soundscapes and ambient experimentalism. Dreamliner, officially his fourth studio album, dials down the samples - at least in comparison to the dense collages of found sounds and familiar snippets of old - in favour of a warming, heady and intoxicating palette of sounds, rhythms and sonics rooted in kosmiche, stoned trip-hop, the sparkling sound worlds of Global Communication, folktronica and densely layered ambient. If you're a little anxious about the state of the world and seeking calming, meditative music in which to lose yourself, look no further.

Review: Star Trek has been on a tumultuous ride over the years. To paraphrase Wayne Campbell, of Wayne's World fame, in many ways The Next Generation was superior to the original series, but will always struggle to match the recognition of its source material. More recent shows in the franchise looked to expand the viewer base, following in the wake of the saga's modern films, but in doing so kind of lost the friendly, campish mild peril we love this universe for. Star Trek: Into Darkness was a case in point - it's not fun, it's not light, it's not particularly thoughtful. As a movie, it lives up to the promise of darkness. In terms of how this translates onto the score, expect seriously moody and atmospheric big screen compositions, rather than the jaunty soundtracks that once defined this institution.

Review: Reconnecting through their shared musical heritages, Rhiannon Giddens and Justin Robinson present What Did the Blackbird Say To The Crow, a mesmerising collection of fiddle and banjo tunes tied to North Carolina's many oral and digital traditions. After their late mentor Joe Thompson bequeathed them a trove of recordings to work with, the already esteemed, torch-bearing duo breathe new life into 18 handpicked rethinks and honorific originals, some sung, others purely instrumental. Recorded outdoors at sites meaningful to Thompson and Baker, their sessions were joined by the rare, overlapping calls of two cicada broods, unheard together since 1803. Giddens calls it "music made for your community's enjoyment and for dancing."

Gidge is the Swedish duo of Stolterman and Jonatan Nilsson and they are known for ethereal, ambient music deeply influenced by the Nordic forests of their youth. The reissue highlights the duo's emotionally immersive sound and features unreleased tracks like 'Untitled Piano' and reworked versions of fan favourites that blend natural soundscapes with subtle rhythms and haunting melodies.

Review: Formed in the peak pandemic year of 2020, GIFT emerged during a challenging time but quickly found their sound as they blended early shoegaze, 90s alternative rock and modern pop. Their 2022 debut Momentary Presence showcased their potential and now their new album Illuminator on Captured Tracks further highlights the band's ever-evolving sound and unique chemistry. With nods to label mates like Beach Fossils and DIIV, GIFT creates sleek, danceable, and mesmerising tracks led by TJ Freda. The quintet deftly explores themes of time, love, and change through standout songs like 'Wish Me Away' and 'Going In Circles' to make Illuminator a soundtrack to life's fleeting moments.

Review: Scott Gilmore's tracks are deceptively pared back. Putting an Arp Odyssey, Yamaha CS-01, Korg DW-8000, Hohner Pianet T, Roland TR 606, Roland SH 101, bamboo alto saxophone, clarinet, electric guitar and electric bass to very good use on this nine track Balearic-downtempo stunner, the tunes are easy to groove with yet subtly complex. They feel simple, but are incredibly detailed. Veering between a kind of synth-y smooth jazz, lounge, lofi electronica and sunset instrumental, Volume 01 is the proof after the promise of Gilmore's 2019 debut, Two Roomed Motel. Second album in and it's quite clear how talented the guy is. We just wish there was more information available for us to get to know him better with.

Review: About Face was the second solo album from English guitar legend David Gilmour, released in 1984, just a year after he assumed the captain's position on the good ship Pink Floyd. Landing to positive acclaim, peaking at 21 in the UK Albums Chart and 32 in the US equivalent, it produced two singles - 'Blue Light' and 'Love On The Air'. Neither broke the Top 40, but the record went on to be certified gold. Northern Lights captures the vitality of Gilmour in the flesh during that period. A recording of one night in Stockholm, specifically 24th April 1984, it reflects the majesty and vision of both About Face, the LP the tour was tied to, and the overall sound and feel of a true six string genius in full flow.

Review: Ginger Root is the immersive sonic vision of Cameron Lew, a multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter and visual artist from Southern California who has built this project since 2017. He blends sound and sight with captivating albums, films and global tours and is inspired by 70s and 80s Japanese city pop, French pop and Philly soul, and the resulting sounds are polished synth-pop, alt-disco, boogie and soul through his unique perspective as an Asian-American. His third long player represents his most intentional work yet, both musically and personally. Paired with a visual album, it continues the conceptual story from 2022's Nisemono and shows Lew's growth and cinematic ambitions in all their glory.

Review: Originally released in 1981 via Bronze Records, Hit & Run would serve as the sophomore full-length from London's Girlschool. Reaching No. 5 in the UK Albums Chart with the title-track charting at No. 32 in the UK singles, the album was the band's biggest success, even landing them an obligatory mime performance on Top Of the Pops. Returning to London's Jackson's Studios to work with producer Vic Maile, who handled desk duties on their 1980 debut Demolition, the project saw the group ramp up their speed and melody, ultimately cementing their place as somewhat retrospectively overlooked pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWBHM). Reissued or rather "revisited" for Record Store Day 2025, this lush, limited red wax pressing features cuts such as the iconic opening banger 'C'mon Let's Go', which appeared in the Gemini Award winning 2005 documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, as well as their much adored rendition of ZZ Top's 'Tush'.

Review: Originally released in 1992, Frenching The Bully would serve as the debut full-length from Seattle hardcore punk heroes The Gits. Unfairly lumped into the burgeoning grunge scene at the time due to being a band with guitars in the Grungy City at the cusp of the Grungy Decade, they stood out for their aggro demeanour, energetic live performances and the enigmatic aura of frontwoman Mia Zapata, which ironically also led to their name often being incorrectly cited as part of the Riot Grrrl movement. Tragically, their success would be cut short due to the murder of Zapata while walking home from a show on July 7th 1993, just four days before being set to sign a deal with Atlantic Records. In the aftermath, friends would create a non-profit self-defence group called Home Alive, organising benefit concerts and CDs with the participation of several bands including Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and The Presidents of the United States of America, while Joan Jett and Bikini Kill frontwoman Kathleen Hanna would co-write the track 'Go Home' in tribute to Zapata. Posthumously releasing their second album Enter: The Conquering Chicken in 1994 before calling it a day, the untapped potential of The Gits and their harrowingly abrupt end still leaves a resounding stain on the Seattle punk scene, whereas the legacy of this debut speaks for itself, dictated by the ferocious conviction of what could and should have been one of our leading feminine punk voices.

Review: Glasbird is the project of British composer Harry Towell, owner of the ambient label Whitelabrecs. Beginning in 2018, he anonymously created A Sonic Expedition, an eight-album series inspired by remote locations like Greenland and Siberia. In 2024, Harry revealed his identity in an interview and then announced Fenscapes, an album inspired by the South Lincolnshire Fens near his village. These flat, marshy landscapes are rich in biodiversity and shaped his compositions. Harry explored local fen roads, observing wildlife and open vistas for inspiration and it all plays out in a bucolic, widescreen, immersive record of the highest quality.

This one is a rather non-traditional holiday release that brings a weight and musical funkiness to a genre and time of year that is often seeped in campy or classic holiday motifs. It is the work of modern jazz heavyweight Robert Glasper and finds him working with a top list of frequent collaborators including PJ Morton, Sevyn Streeter, Cynthia Ervo, Tarriona Tank Ball, Alex Isley, Andra Day and The Baylor Project. It is a real joy to listen to and brings great warmth to the cosy months.

It marks a welcome return almost four years after their chart-topping single 'Heat Waves' which took them to all new levels go global game as the best-selling single of the year. Frontman Dave Bayley's global rise during the pandemic inspired the album but despite the success, testing positive for COVID-19 meant they missed the 2022 Grammys ceremony after being nominated. The record delves into the challenges of fame and is poised to elevate the band to new heights.

Review: I Love You So F***ing Much is the fourth studio album from English indie rock band Glass Animals. It comes almost four years after their epic 'Heat Waves' single rose to the top of the charts and was partly inspired by frontman Dave Bayley's experience of becoming a global sensation. Because that success came in the pandemic, the band were forced to miss the 2022 Grammys at which they had been nominated for Best New Artist cause they tested positive for COVID-19. The record is another surefire success that addresses the pitfalls of fame and will likely take the band to all new levels.

Review: Life has been a bit of a slow burner for Oxford-born Glass Animals. The four-piece first began to garner 'real' attention in the run up to their 2014 debut album, Saba, with the single 'Gooey' doing them no disservice in the popularity stakes. Follow up How To Be A Human Being found itself on the Mercury Music Prize shortlist, but it was only really when LP three then hit number two in the UK albums chart and seven in the Billboard 200 that we can say they really reached the heights of fame, almost a decade into their story. That was then, though, and this is now. Four years, and one pandemic later, Glass Animals drop I Love You So F***ing Much, a record that fully commits to mainstream pop discourse, moving the outfit away from their psyche and electronic indie roots. The formula certainly suits, with the record a rich and largely joyful trip into a world of arena tours and anthems.

Review: The best kept secret in shoegaze? Probably depends on how many other secrets you know about and what they are. Either way, Gleemer are the almost-stadium sized band half the crowd are blown away by because they've never heard of before, and the other half are absolutely obsessed with and have been since they first encountered the group. End of the Nail is quintessential Gleemer business, and wholly indicative of why people love them so much. Combining elements of grunge and garage, skate and 'adult emo' into this gnarly, taught and rhythmic guitar soup, it's as much about looking upwards into the great beyond with contemplative chords and choruses as it is staring down at the pavement and wondering where from there. Dreamy and muscular at the same time.

Review: Naarm in Melbourne, Australia seems to be driving rise to ever more musical talent that makes a mark over here in the UK. It is where producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Don Glori (aka Gordon Li) ihails from and now with 'Don't Forget To Have Fun' he follows up his acclaimed 2022 LP 'Welcome' in great style. It came amidst personal turmoil and technical setbacks and, after relocating to London in 2023, Don found fresh inspiration by simplifying his process. Working in a tiny room with minimal equipment, he redefined and re-recorded many tracks in his Whitechapel flat. The resulting album blends jazz, funk, soul, r&b and samba, with tracks like 'Pause,' 'Emerald,' and 'All Seeds' showcasing psychedelic influences, tight horn arrangements, and Brazilian street soul.

Review: Alabama post-rock trio Glories share An Expanse Of Colour, a medially lowercase and lo-fi cruncher that nonetheless still delivers effectively sublime washes of wordless extremophile rock feeling. Recorded between 2020 and 2023, we find it no wonder that these compositions took years, as they resound like hefty undertakings for a collection of tracks allegedly born of the threesome's respective basements. Dedicated to the memory of their friend, a mood of loss and finality is also, as is often the case with Glories, present throughout, with 'Sad As The Fog standing out especially as the glacial dirge descendent upon said wake.

And it is a truly star-studded project that features collaborations with contemporary titans like Megan Thee Stallion as well as Latto, Sexyy Red and Kirk Franklin. Review:  Reading-based Garage/Punk/Psychobilly band The Go Go Cult signed to the iconic rockabilly-led Western Star label in 2012. This electrifying new album is their sixth studio record since then and it's an electrifying addition to their back catalogue. Led by a frontman who rivals The Cramps' Lux Interior when it comes to a darkly-theatrical approach, the tracklist is bursting with highlights. 'Black Is The Colour Of My Love' is hypnotic and menacing, 'When The Food Runs Out' nods to Joy Division, whilst 'Regeneration' has an air of Fat White Family about it. The label only pressed a limited number of copies, making it potentially a future collectible, not to mention its stunning, niche work of art thanks to retro illustrator Vince Ray's cover.

Review: Japanese percussive and rhythmic experts Goat have finally graced us with a new album. It's taken around eight years to materialise, and band leader Koshiro Hino apparently described the process as "90% pain", which sounds like there's quite the tale to tell. No doubt all will be revealed to fans in due course, but for now let's just say one of the world's most enigmatic, talented (read: unfathomably tight) and complex groups are back on incredibly fine form. As ever with this crew, attempting to come up with reference points to guide would-be-buyers as to wether this is for them feels redundant simply because it should be impossible not to find Joy In Goat captivating. Fans of Miles Davis and Autechre alike should be bowled over, with highly technical, drum-led arrangements that sound like they could only possibly be machine made coming out of what is essentially a piece of expressive performance art on record.

Review: After over a decade away from making music, Greek-born musician and composer Giannis Gogos is back. It was the turmoil of the pandemic that allowed him to reconnect with making music after years working in photography and now he's combining analogue and digital sound with intricate melodies and plenty of keyboards, glockenspiel, kalimba and guitars. This latest album is enhanced by oodles of delay and reverb effects and makes for an ethereal journey inspired by Henry Corbin's Man of Light in Iranian Sufism. It explores light as a symbol of divine presence through serene, introspective soundscapes.

It is packed with dance floor potency and eight cuts of techno and acid dynamite starting with the sleek 'Mass Music'. 'Party Time' then brings some bumping house sounds with raw, slamming drums, 'Get Control' has well-swung kicks that punch like Mike Tyson under some woozy chords and acid stabs and 'Baby Pn' is another muscular mix of rock solid kicks, coarse percussive patterns and deft synths.

The ten new tracks on this volume are even more adventurous and offer heavy rhythms with razor-sharp guitars from Lionel and distorted grooves driven by drum machines. Opener 'Paradis' is an epic choral track that sets the tone for the slow, raw, and hypnotic sounds that follow. Highlights include 'Red Wolf' featuring Phoebe Coco, the stiff rhythmic mechanics of 'Ricochet' and the psychedelic 'Hi No Tori' with Japanese guest Vega Voga. This is an album rich in sensory sounds that leave you listening in awe.

Review: To say there's a meditative quality to Golem Mecanique's third album would be like saying air is something we breathe. The nom de plume of French multi-instrumental Karen Jebane, the album title directly quotes the final comments made by Pier Paolo Pasolini in his last ever interview, given just days before his body was found on an Italian beach after being brutally murdered. "We are all in danger", he quipped. From what, or who, we are still trying to figure out, 50 years on. Siamo Tutti In Pericolo doesn't look to answer the great mystery of what happened to the great filmmaker and auteur. But it does look to feelings of tension, quiet unease, and opaque mystery for its incredibly atmospheric tomes. This is deep dive stuff, reliant on a combination of refrained notes, echoes, and sombre, spiritual voices inviting us to push through into some other state of consciousness. Whether that will shed any light on anything is, of course, the real question we need to answer.

Review: This is the debut solo album by Italian-born, London-based composer, bassist and vocalist Ruth Goller. It was originally released in 2021 on Bex Burch's Vula Viel Records but quickly sold out with its detuned bass harmonics and dense vocal arrangements. Skylla introduced a sound both otherworldly and unplaceable and Goller's reputation soared as a result. That led to the critically acclaimed 2024 album Skyllumina on International Anthem while Skylla remains the genesis of her distinct style as it evokes the experimental energy of 1980s Downtown NYC or a Bjork-adjacent Icelandic project.

I Said I Love You First is a perfect example of Blanco's signature production style which mixes soft beats with smooth melodies, while Gomez's vocals portray both vulnerability and confidence. While previous works showcased his musical depth, Gonzo explores some intriguing spoken-word sections and lyrics which are self-aggrandising and self-indulgent but always with a knowing irony. The opening track features Gonzales referring to himself as "Chilly G" in a way that is playful and songs like 'Surfing the Crowd' blend awkward nerd rap and poetry, while his witty lyrics add weight to the strong instrumental foundation. Packed with bright moments, Gonzales is in fine form here with a new type of work that is as interesting as his many other albums.

The saxophonist gathered a quartet featuring bebop legends Bud Powell on piano and Kenny Clarke on drums and they played alongside French bassist Pierre Michelot to record this timeless work at CBS Studios in Paris. The album is defined by Gordon's commanding saxophone with the intricate rhythms of bebop that take you right back to a precise moment of musical history which marked a significant transition in jazz. It remained a defining work in Gordon's career.

His career had been slowed by personal struggles but signing with Blue Note in 1961 marked a powerful resurgence and led to a series of iconic albums. Go! features a stellar quartet with Sonny Clark on piano, Butch Warren on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums and highlights Gordon's boundless creativity on tracks like the tasty 'Cheese Cake' and his skilful interpretations of ballads such as 'I Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out to Dry' and 'Where Are You.' He brings soul and jazz to his deep house sounds and this is the fourth time he has landed on Clone. 'Profundo' gets things underway with singing synths and shuffling deep beats, then 'Hold On' centres escapist and sunny melodies that take you to the Med. Elsewhere 'I Don't Know Why' brings spoken word vocals to lavish house and 'Takes Time' oozes sex appeal with its steamy sax notes and gentle piano tinkles. All of these cuts are laden with great musicality that puts many producers to shame.

Review: Dreams can come true. When the late, great Robert Gordon was nine years old, the punk rocker turned Rockabilly-revivalist heard Elvis on the radio and he set his sights on becoming a rock & roll musician. The American went on to have a glittering career that included a stint in New York punk scene favourites Tuff Darts and having Link Wray on his records. But it was in 1978, upon signing to Elvis' label RCA, that he said it was "a dream come true." This is the first album Gordon did with RCA and his first with the go-to session guitarist of the time, Chris Spedding. It's a powerhouse of a record expertly weaving through rockabilly, 50s pop and country. Gordon's soulful vocals sparkle with nostalgic and lustful tones that are able to light up any room where it's heard. A true master of his art.

Superbly blending Jean's razor-sharp lyricism with Quelle's introspective wit, the project takes aim at societal absurdities with intelligence and humour and comes with notable Cameos from comedy heavyweights like Nick Offerman, Michael Che, John Hodgman and Hannibal Buress who all add an extra layer of punch. Politically charged, deeply self-aware and sonically adventurous, this is essential listening for fans of boundary-pushing rap, and it comes on a stunning tri-colour vinyl that is as bold as the music itself.

Review: Max Graef emerged with a dusty, lo-fi and lived-in house sound that soon made him a favourite amongst the underground heads of the early 2010s. In the years since he has dropped plenty of fine tunes and a great full-length and has seemingly been working on his skills and musicality because this new full-length is a real step up in quality. It comes as always on his home label Tartelet and mixes up some lush downtempo sounds with deep house bits, Balearic moments and plenty of soulful charm.

Review: Ariana Grande was still on the up when she released her My Everything album back in 2014. Although slightly delayed, this is a special tenth-anniversary edition that reminds of its charming mix of pop, r&b and EDM influences. The album is mostly defined by Grande's powerful vocal range and emotional depth while belting out hits like 'Problem,' 'Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart' and 'Break Your Heart Right Back' all of which remain bangers to this day. Plenty of top-tier guests also feature like The Weeknd, ASAP Ferg and Childish Gambino. As a celebration of her breakthrough era, My Everything remains a modern pop milestone.

Review: If you're over the age of 30 it's probably quite alarming to think David Gray's monumental smash hit single 'Babylon' is now almost a quarter century old. A track that appeared everywhere, from TV ads to films to the radio for the next 25 years or so, it's the sort of song that artists can find it incredibly hard to come back from. Career defining, but also limiting, its enormous success melding with the very identity of the person who made it. Dear Life, Gray's 13th studio album and his first since 2021's Skellig, proves how unfair that familiar pattern can be. Deft songwriting and first class musicianship abound, although the record is unlikely to win any new disciples - this is very much Gray doing Gray the right way, a soft rock-pop-jazz-tronica workout that's easy to get along with, and get a little lost in - it's going to be just what the therapist ordered for those already converted.

Review: Rose Gray's debut album again finds the rising pop star, songwriter and DJ making big moves. She is fresh off a hit collaboration with TSHA on the form of 'Girls' and also made a Glastonbury appearance with Shygirl while staying busy with her own club night, Gray Selects. This new record reflects her bold artistic vision and fuses together pop and electronic ideas with collaborators such as Justin Tranter, Zhone, Seda Bodega, Uffie, and Alex Metric. It adds up to a bold and confident statement of who she is and the artist she has always been destined to become.

Review: Since releasing her much admired debut album 19 Masters in 2022 - an impossible to pigeonhole affair that saw the Canadian-Japanese bassist-turned-solo artist explore her abstract and experimental influences - Saya Gray has kept fans content via a series of low-key (but undeniably interesting) EPs. Here she finally delivers full-length number two, the simply titled Saya, whose genesis can be traced back to a solo trip across Japan accompanied by her acoustic guitar. Musically, it is rooted in folk - bluesy finger-picking motifs, strummed chords and her sweet vocals are an almost ever-present - but it's like no folk album you'll have heard before, with Gray throwing in everything from Tricky style moody trip-hop beats, haunting pedal steel, dark electronics and nods to country, Americana, r&b and atmospheric electronica.

Review: Say what you will about Green Day's career resurgence record but 2004's American Idiot slaps far more than any hater will have you remember. While many still bemoan the band's shying away from the slacker college rock of 2000's Warning, it's impossible to deny the massive staying power that came from the ludicrous hit singles of the title-track as well as 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams', 'Holiday' and even the nine minute opus 'Jesus Of Suburbia'. Leaning further into concept and theatricality than ever before while essentially serving as the torch bearer album that saw Green Day be passed from Generation X to the millennials of the 21st century, it's easy to understand why American Idiot has become a victim of its own success in the two decades since release, but that doesn't excuse the selective amnesia for how potent of a record it truly was upon arrival and just how prevalent Green Day became in the cultural rock music zeitgeist for an entirely new generation of anxious kids. This 20th anniversary expanded edition arrives in a 4xCD box set complete with a bonus 2xBlu-ray.

Review: This album is the ultimate treasure for fans of the legendary American rock outfit Green Day. It is a special limited edition and hand-numbered yellow marbled vinyl pressing of the band's legendary 1994 Woodstock broadcast, which has never been available on wax before. As we as the tracklist form that historic night when the band were at the height of their fame, it also includes a rare gem from Saturday Night Live with an explosive performance of 'Geek Stink Breath.' But that's not all, as it also features three ultra-rare acoustic recordings from WMMR radio making it a must-have for every Green Day nut.
