Review: Alien: Isolation was a survival horror game eleased in 2014 by Creative Assembly and published by Sega, matched with a deeply atmospheric soundtrack. Described as a "mid-quel" between the filmes Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), it borrows the original film's claustrophobic terror perfectly. The game's soundtrack, composed by Christian Henson alongside The Flight (Joe Henson and Alexis Smith), is a standout achievement, blending Jerry Goldsmith's haunting themes from Alien with original compositions and evoking a powerful sense of dread and nostalgia. Familiar motifs like the eerie 'Main Theme' and the otherworldly 'Alien Planet' theme resurface with reverence, while innovative use of echoplexed percussion and avant-garde techniques add modern intensity. The new material enhances the game's atmosphere with orchestral tension, electronic elements and haunting vocals, particularly in tracks like 'The Descent'. The music mirrors the film's dark narrative of a journalist trapped inside his own lifeless body, racing against time to solve a chilling conspiracy. Review: Iam8bit have been blessed with the job of issuing the very best video game soundtracks in the world, and they continue to uphold this duty with this new soundtrack edition of the critically vaunted 2023 action RPG, Lies Of P. Based on Carlo Collodi's 1883 novel, the third-person "soulslike" game has the player control the fabled puppet Pinocchio, who is here tasked with staving off an epidemic of puppet petrification - a stopover, of course, on the journey to become a real boy. Scored by in-house Neowiz composer Silun Lee, the soundtrack is fittingly ethereal and journeying, demonstrating the becalmed but stirring atmospheres of the city of Krat, whose tiered streets could collapse into warfare at any time.
