Limited to just 15 bundles, this Joe Henderson and Woody Shaw Jazz Patterns reissue set pairs a test pressing with one regular black edition and a rare peach variant (only 100 copies exist). Originally a budget Everest release from 1982, Jazz Patterns was cobbled together from live sessions at The Lighthouse Cafe in 1970, rebranded to spotlight Shaw after the flugelhornist and trumpeter's rise in profile. The original packaging botched track titles and credits, selling for under five dollars before fading into obscurity. Now reissued with new liner notes from Skip Heller and fresh remastering by Kevin Chubirka, this followup recorrects the song titles and audio clarity. The lineup includes George Cables on electric piano, Ron McClure on bass, and Lenny White on drums (who most curiously used a bass drum made from an oil can).
