Review: sir Was is the alter ego of Gothenburg-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Joel Wastberg. A graduate from one of Sweden's most prestigious music college, his first foray into the industry-proper came when Jose Gonzalez invited him to join the band Junip. From there, pals in the band Little Dragon encouraged him to pursue a solo career and realise his own ideas under his own steam. Having collaborated with the likes of Teleman, Gengahr, Falle Nioke, Caspar Clausen (Efterklang) and Seb Wildblood, sir Was clearly has one foot in pop and another in synth, electronic and dance music, although on We Can Go Anywhere From Here he seems to be somewhere entirely of his own devising. Sweet, strange, sing-along yet anything but commercial, his latest long form isn't something you'll forget in a hurry.
