Review: Innervisions bosses Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer return as Ame, and present their first full length entitled Dream House - described as a home listening styled journey. The German duo spent three years working on the LP and it features collaborations with legends of German electronic music such as Roedelius and Gudrun Gut, as well as Bolivian singer David Lemaitre and Jens Kuross - who was a member of Wiedemann's other venture The Howling, with Ry Cuming. Highlights include their dramatic collaboration with Matthew Herbert "The Line", the upbeat disco number "Blind Eye" (featuring Planningtorock), the chill balearica of "Positivland" and the evocative/melodic dreamscape of "No War".

Asa (7:37)
Review: German duo Ame, consisting of Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann, makes a striking comeback with their new single, 'Asa,' marking their first original release in three years through Innervisions. 'Asa' epitomises their approach to dance music, blending vibrant joy and euphoric energy into an unforgettable track. The composition thrives on repetition, yet each element is dynamic and ever-evolving. The piece weaves together bold synths, pulsating beats, and intricate melodies into a catchy dance track. This track demonstrates their knack for creating exhilarating, peak-time dance anthems while maintaining their signature adventurous sound.

Review: Who doesn't love a picture disc? Sure, they might be a nostalgic hit of old school teenage record collecting joy but why not. This one from Laser Media is a Depeche Mode 7" featuring a pair of the moody miserablists' darker cuts. 'The Sweetest Condition' has snarling, dark vocals of noir beats and spangled guitar lines that make for emo-electronica par excellence. On the flip is the all too short 'It Doesn't Matter Two,' a song from the 1986 album Black Celebration that sounds like a live version here with crowds whoops coming next to the melancholic keys and pained, tortured vocals.

Odyssey EP

I Am Wavy (feat Nowa) (5:21)
Odyssey (5:43)
Paradox (feat Nowa & Samet Gunal) (6:03)
Review: Berlin producer Ede returns after their 2023 Innervisions debut 'Poptroit', this time for another melodic techno forward-facer. With a papillary front cover - resembling the suckers of an octopus or the polyps of a fantasy coral - we doubt the trypophobics out there will be at ease with this one. That is, at least until they hear the soothing progressives of 'I Am Wavy' and 'Odyssey', which build through and cleanse classic acid, rave and bleep motifs. The latter track has an incredible vocal breakdown, saturating and processing its stabs and chirp-hits just right.

Acamar EP (reissue)
Acamar EP (reissue) (translucent orange vinyl 12")
Cat: IV 59R. Rel: 12 Apr 24

Minimal/Tech House
Acamar (8:22)
Lukida (6:50)
Review: Nine years after they dropped one of their most well-known and pivotal EPs, Frankey & Sandrino reissue it on the mighty Innervisions. Their Acamar EP arrived in 2015 and really took the pair behind it up a level with its meticulously crafted house sounds, serene melodies and general sense of electronic elegance. It perfectly defined the Innervisions sound back then and still very much aligns with it now. 'Acamar' is a free-roaming cut for blissed-out 5am listening and tranced-out dancefloors. 'Lukida' has a slightly more whimsical feel and elastic bassline. This version comes on nice orange vinyl.

Nothing But My Story (2:36)
Burning (7:33)
Review: Multi-instrumentalist Jimi Jules got plenty of acclaim, and rightly so, for this 2022 album, which now sees a reissue on coloured vinyl. Executively produced by Innervisison label head Dixon, the album includes some of the most hammered tracks of the year it was released in - see 'My City's On Fire,' the superb 'Der Aufstand,' the dancefloor hit 'Burning' and 'Clinomania,' featuring Joy Tyson and renowned drummer Nathan Curran who has worked with the likes of Lily Allen and even Elton John. It's a melodically rich album that works at home as well as in the club and the album's artwork is designed by none other than the legendary Trevor 'Underdog' Jackson.

Silvio EP
Silvio EP (12")
Cat: IV 114. Rel: 08 Nov 24

Techno
Silvio (7:37)
Aus Music (6:17)
Mulher Gato (8:05)
Review: Three new deep-sea drivers from Innervisions' Mulya with the 'Silvio' EP, releasing in a three-track format highly characteristic of the 12"s and digitals label. Mulya channels a highly specific sound, one unafraid of reverb, big-hitter sound design or grandiosity, and yet which brings with it a specially raw and stuttery effect, as if to say the artist has never forgotten his operative genre's roots, despite it being 2024. 'Silvio' solicits more than a cackle with its call-and-response calls and squeezy synth lead, though it's the paraparactic vocal sample come label namedrop 'Aus Music', with its rapid chord shifts and homeostatic drop, that really does the trick for us. 'Mulher Gato' returns to something of the vibe of the A-side, though it adds an extra tribal, yelled, slow-built bang.

Techno
We Care (7:26)
La Libertad (5:17)
Tasting Darkness (5:41)
We Care (acoustic version) (2:41)
Review: Shiffer and Paul Brenning's latest collaboration is a masterclass in restraint and groove. The tracks here unfold slowly, each element carefully placed, allowing the deep, rumbling bass and crisp percussion to speak for themselves. There's a warmth to the production, with subtle melodies peeking through the smooth rhythms, creating a hypnotic effect that pulls you in. The vibe is steady yet unpredictable, and you can feel the influence of house, techno, and everything in between. It's an understated but impressive exploration of sound.

The Verb EP
Cat: IV 112. Rel: 24 Sep 24

Minimal/Tech House
Stronger (7:02)
Blue Zone (7:02)
Get Me (6:18)
Review: Thimble makes a strong debut on Germany's legendary Innervisions label with The Verb EP, delivering three top-tier techno tracks that are both deep and melodic, perfect for the dancefloor. The EP showcases Thimble's ability to blend classical house elementsivocal samples, catchy hooks, and rich basslinesiinto a vibrant, contemporary soundscape. The lead track, 'Get Me,' has already become a favorite in the sets of Dixon and Ame, proving its impact on the dancefloor. However, the other tracks, 'Stronger' and 'Blue Zone,' are equally potent. 'Stronger' channels high energy with its driving rhythm, while 'Blue Zone' offers a more atmospheric vibe, yet both tracks demonstrate how traditional elements can be reimagined with a fresh, innovative twist. With The Verb EP, Thimble not only introduces himself as a promising new talent but also reinforces Innervisions' reputation for pushing the boundaries of house and techno.

Rigor (6:45)
Raiva (4:29)
Fortuna (4:46)
Luxo (7:46)
Sagrado (7:50)
Review: With Harmonia, Trikk delivers a deep, expansive journey through a range of club sounds for Innervisions. The project remains grounded in dance floor energy but 'Sagrado' stands as its emotional and sonic pinnacle-pure club music, expertly crafted. It opens with crisp kicks, claps and a bubbling bassline but slowly blossoms into something more atmospheric and uplifting, like a musical sunrise. Elsewhere, 'Fortuna' has a percussive and summery outdoor feel, 'Rigor' is more tense with its stark stabs and stomping drums and 'Raiva' has a sense of swing to its groove.

Rigor (6:45)
Raiva (4:29)
Fortuna (4:46)
Luxo (7:46)
Sagrado (7:50)
Review: Portuguese producer Trikk returns with a five-track suite that blurs the boundaries between emotional depth and dancefloor precision. It's a new release built for impact and flow, threading through tempo shifts, genre collisions and global voices while holding fast to a focused, tactile sound. 'Rigor' kicks things off with peak-time weight and carefully sculpted drama i chest-rattling bass and stabs of unexpected piano beauty. 'Raiva (feat MEUTE)' brings brassy propulsion into the fold, fusing live energy with Trikk's slick production touch. 'Fortuna', with Kenyan vocalist Sofiya Nzau, hits a lighter, warmer stride, evoking open-air euphoria. On the flip, 'Luxo' plays with friction i industrial textures balanced with bursts of melody i before closing track 'Sagrado' delivers a radiant, sunrise moment. It's the clearest summation of the release's intent: to move, to build, to glow. Rooted in club energy but alive with personality, this one shows Trikk at his most expansive and assured.

Review: Innervisions is one of those house labels that has become synonymies with a certain lifestyle. It has a distinctive sound - emotional, synth-laced house, always with an artful edge. It always offers up well-crafted sounds, never more so than in its on going Secret Weapons series. This 16th volume is a bumper collection across four slabs of wax that takes in the deep, dramatic, rising tension of Ivory's 'Could You Feel The Love?', the more grizzled broken beats of David Kochs & John Falke and Hardt Antoine's slow burning synth house epic 'Inside Your Mind' as well as much more besides.

Back 2 Feelin' EP
Cat: IV 113. Rel: 10 Oct 24

Deep House
Bounce (5:17)
Tryna Jack My Style (5:00)
Back 2 Feelin' (5:29)
Review: After making his debut alongside Avangart Tabldot on Crib Records earlier in the year, Yet More - the chosen artistic alias of Paris-based Syrian-Iranian producer Teymour Khalatbari - has been handed a solo debut on Dixon and Ame's popular Innervisions imprint. It's an opportunity he's grasped with both hands. Check first the pleasingly heavyweight (and accurately titled) 'Bounce', where mutilated rap vocal samples, rave-igniting stabs and pots-and-pans percussion fills ride a tough, sub-heavy groove that sits somewhere between Kenny Dope and late 90s Danny Tenaglia. The Sound Factory/Twilo vibes continue on dark big room roller 'Tryna Jack My Style', while title track 'Back 2 Feelin' is a warming, dreamy and lusciously kaleidoscopic blend of shuffling breakbeats and sun-bright deep house nous. A wonderfully assured and impressive EP all told.
