Worldwide Heavy Industries Vol 1
Dominik Muller - "Too Many Posers" (6:27)
Ryuji Takeuchi - "In Your Mind" (5:54)
6SISS & Hypnoskull - "Losss" (5:21)
Low Order - "Taste My Venom" (5:05)
Skumring - "Corpse-Ridden" (5:59)
Review: Worldwide Heavy Industries Vol.1 is the latest wax drop from Flux Musical Art and Brutal Forms and it makes for an immersive trip deep into industrial soundscapes and futuristic themes. Dominik Muller's intricate 'Too Many Posers' soon sucks you in followed by Ryuji Takeuchi's dynamic 'In Your Mind' with its unusual rhythmic innovation. On the B-side, 6SISS and Hypnoskull's intense 'Losss' gets super raw with an industrial edge, while Low Order's 'Taste My Venom' explores darker experimental territory. Skumring's atmospheric 'Corpse-Ridden' closes the album with a mood as dark as you would expect given the title.

Bordo (6:15)
Kafas (5:48)
Krelia (6:47)
Tsirita (5:46)
Review: Sawf doesn't strike us as the type of producer who suffers fools gladly. Or indeed at all. The Greek music maker has a reputation for uncompromising and unforgiving electronic beats at the harsher end of the spectrum, one foot in industrial and another in techno, but with enough respect for both genres to make sure he's never made anything that feels as though it's destined for a TikTok video of 5,000 people pretending to find groove in sledgehammers. Kafas is exemplary of this, four tracks that sound as though the machines are rising up but in a way that's infinitely danceable, even if you don't normally gravitate towards dark, single strobe-lit rooms. From 'Bordo''s stepping, broken, minimalist workout, through to the stomp, clang, march and whips of 'Tsirita', this is heavy, heavy stuff but also very good indeed.

Open World Game (UFO95 remix) (4:54)
Review:  The rather unpronounceable Schwefelgelb is back with more club-ready goodness across two original tracks that blend pounding 138 bpm drums with inescapable basslines. The raw energy of the designs are enhanced by intricate arrangements and fresh sound design which marks a bold step in Schwefelgelb's evolution as they fuse hard-stomping techno with tonal playfulness. Adding versatility is UFO95 who contributes a dubby yet driving 4/4 remix, while Flore shifts gears entirely, exploring UK bass territory to close out this fine slab of 140g coloured vinyl.

Punishments Of Tainted Light (7:47)
Review: Second Tension invites us into a singular world of industrial tech menace with the new yellow-marbled EP on Persephonic Sirens. Right from the off there is a heavy metal feel with screeched and snarling vocals over screen baselines and flashy trance synths. 'Lust From The Eyes Drips' is lit up with searing laser-like synths over ragged, squared-off drums and bass and 'No Rejoicings Of Joy Shall Ever Be Tasted' is another white knuckle, teeth-gritted stomper. 'Punishments Of Tainted Light' rounds out with more machine gun synths and hellish vocals for a dark and thrilling experience.

Review: Sound System Persepolis isn't really designed for home listening, but was built to take advantage of high end, multi-channel rigs, the likes of which night be found in an art gallery hosting an installation, or a club. Although what's here isn't really going to work for many crowds, which is precisely the point. Brutal, diagonal - like the label carrying it - and wildly avant garde, phrases like 'machine music' are often used in conjunction with electronic noises, but in this instance is probably the only way to describe what's here. Written specifically for live performance, the abrasive elements are as wild as they are wonderfully conceived, ensuring even at the most staccato and intense end of things there's plenty to appreciate about the artistry at play. Experimentalism in a mind-boggling sense.

Nyagblodi (4:03)
Church (4:25)
Review: This 7" from Yao Bobby & Simon Grab is as esoteric as it gets. If you don't like noise, you won't like this, it's that simple. The two tracks are taken from their recent album 'Wum' on LAVALAVA. It is some of their most abrasive and confrontational music to date. 'Nyagblodi' is an attack on corrupt African politicians with a loud, guttural voice and frazzled synth over heavily distorted drums. On the flip, 'Church' has a broken beat rhythm, hardcore industrial texture and more powerful vocal chants. These are two hard-as-nails tunes with a powerful message.

Review: Sightless Pit is Lee Buford (aka The Body) and Dylan Walker (aka Full of Hell). The creative pair's debut album Grave of A Dog put them right up there with the best bands in the heavy metal scene. They now follow it up with another album that redefined heavy guitar sounds. Lockstep Bloodwar is an eclectic one sound wise and it features some big names making guts appearances such as Gangsta Boo from Three 6 Mafia, YoshimiO from Boredoms, plus Midwife, Lane Shii Otayonii and more. This version comes on limited translucent red marbled vinyl for a look as freaky as the music sounds.

Review: Luis Vasquez is the artist behind The Soft Moon and on his latest album we find him in his most confessional and self-reflective mood to date. An array of his inner most feelings are laid bare here for all to wallow in on this cathartic and soothing fifth full-length album. It brings all new emotion to post-punk industrial with two standout collaborations with fish narc and Alli Logout of Special Interest adding further greatness to this instant classic. It is now 12 years since Luis debuted his first album, but this might be his best work yet.

Review: Tim Barnes, Marco Fusinato, Aaron Hemphill, Brad Laner, Katsura Mouri, Ralf Wehowsky, and C Spencer Yeh are drafted to collaborate with Sissy Spacek for this new outing from the Los Angeles experimental outfit. Now 26 years young, the group originally emerged from the very anti-Tinsel Town sounding noise and grindcore scene in Southern California, but to say that was just the beginning of their journey would be an understatement. Quite where we've ended up now is anyone's guess, mind. Entrance seems to be a noisy place that has little by way of structure but plenty in terms of ideas. Concerned with at least some of musique concrete's principles, one of the best ways to describe what's here is by asking what's not here. This is the sound of a loud world full of clangs, bangs, whirs, bolts, brittles, emotions and fantastical masterplans. A place that's about the atmosphere and feeling, rather than the tune.

Review: US producer SSPS is a ram outsider who is well known to fans of the weird and the wonderful. His adventurous experiments have landed on labels like L.I.E.S. and Kode run by Traxx and collide punk, noise, wave, hardcore, slow beat and jakbeat. This is a retrospective release that brings together some of his many highlights and proves why he is so well-loved by a community of fans on the fringes of the underground mainstream. As well as this genre references there are plenty of odd vocals and smeared synths unifying the sounds which here included four tunes recorded live For Unlimited Nation Summer Of 2020.

Review: Statiqbloom's new album Kain epitomises the essence of industrial music as it transcends mere sound and embodies a more broad worldview. With a fusion of innovative, dystopian sounds, pulsating basslines, and mid-tempo rhythmic beats, the album offers a meticulously crafted industrial techno journey that never lets up. It goes beyond conventional boundaries to embrace forward-thinking elements to create an arresting and immersive experience that encapsulates an outlook on the world, inviting you into a realm where darkness and innovation converge. With its evocative soundscapes, this album stands as a testament to Statiqbloom's commitment to pushing the boundaries of industrial.

Review: Born and raised in Bern, Switzerland, Michael Antener spent most of the 1980s concerned with interpreting the subconsciously and overtly apocalyptic discourse of that time through the medium of industrial-edged, dark feeling music. "I found a niche where I could express myself, along with other people who were not afraid of dark themes," he's quoted as saying in retrospect, before going on to explain that singing about love would have been more difficult than using "cries of pain taken from horror movies". This triple vinyl collector's item celebrates that fertile, if angry and dystopian period in Antener's life. Bringing together work from two of his formative projects, The Stranger of the Swamp and Bande Berne Crematoire, what's here is captivating. Electroclash with groove, distressed collages of noise, a certain sense of sonic expressionism - all brooding shadows, menacing arrangements and deeply unsettling moods.

Review: In Japanese history Suemori refers to a castle constructed in 1548 by Lord Nobuhide. A short-lived structure, it was abandoned just over a decade later and subsequently- in the many years between then and now - all but vanished from the face of the Earth. A solitary stone stelae now marks the site, but whether impermanence was really a central theme to Suemori forming isn't clear. Nevertheless, their growing, reforming and restructuring sound certainly fits with the idea.

Occupying a strange, jerky and juxtaposed place between art sounds, crunchy electronica and noise, Maebashi represents a real melting pot of ideas and details. 'Yakkosan''s scatty hi hats, 'Kaminari Okoshi' and its strange sense of abstract rhythm, the pared back is-that-breakbeat of 'Bonsai'. Definitely destined for the pile marked less ordinary, if you're diving in prepare for a real experience.
