Review: The renewed Apollo imprint continues its fast moving release schedule with the debut release from Gacha. Fitting in with the label's cloudy, effervescent aesthetic instantly, "Remember" combines pitched down vocals, dreamy guitars and gentle bass over a half-stepping groove. "Bowl" meanwhile is more obviously aimed at the floor, with a rolling garage rhythm that seems to phase in and out around gentle chords swathed in tape delay.

Sushitech's anniversary celebrations are centring around label boss Yossi Amoyal's impeccably curated compilation Fluere. Across a series of 12"s, Amoyal taps up big hitters and deep cover reaches alike to present something of a summation of the inspiration behind his fantastic label's sound. On here you get Jan Jelinek's experimental excursions as GES, Mathew Jonson's evergreen 'Freedom Engine', dynamic tech house from Brawther and shimmering beatless pulses from Benjamin Brunn. It's a unique approach that juxtaposes club tracks and experimental fare in an interesting way, and the quality remains infallibly high throughout.

Review: As an accompaniment to his wild and downright ace DJ Kicks mix, Gold Panda offers up this EP that takes his own "An Iceberg Hurled Northward Through Clouds" track and accompanying versions to shimmer under the microscope by itself. The original is a gloriously rich combination of ethnic instrumentation and awkward house groove, punctuated by a piano stab. "Through Clouds" distils a few of the key elements down to a short and punchy take, while Peaking Lights take an equally psychedelic stance on their two remixes. Of the two, the vocal cut wins out for pure stargazing loveliness.

The work of Mort Garson has always held a special appeal to those who dig early electronic music. An early adopter of synthesizer technology, the late, great composer and experimentalist is beste days for his 1976 new age set, Mother Earth's Plantasia, which Sacred Bones reissued a few years back. Here the same label presents a selection of previously unheard, lifted from an archive of over 100 reels of archival recordings. Variously creepy, cheery, unsettling and joyous, the showcased music sits somewhere between new age synthesizer music, the alien-sounding experiments of the Radiophonic Workshop, Autobahn-era Kraftwerk, and the cheeriness of easy listening. As a result, it's an eclectic and at times surprising collection that should be essential listening for anyone interested in the development of electronic music.

Review: Katie Gately's second album "Loom" is a very different beast to its predecessor, 2016 debut full-length "Color". Deeply personal and recorded during her mother's ultimately unsuccessful battle against a rare form of cancer, it sees Gately reflect on grief and loss in a surprisingly confident and musically alluring manner. The assembled tracks make extensive use of both densely layered vocal textures and her own distinctive lead vocals, elements which she mixed with ear-catching melodies, woozy electronics and beats that were crafted in part from recordings she made of Californian earthquakes. You'd expect it to be tonally dark given the subject matter, but it's actually far more bold, beguiling and melodic, drawing just as much influence from more pastoral styles of music as Gately's usual experimental electronics and intricate sound design.

Review: Jazz-man Greg Foat has always been more open-minded and eclectic than many give him credit for, delivering nods to pastoral folk, movie soundtracks and library music amongst his more jazz-focused output. Even so, "Photosynthesis" is still a curveball, featuring as it does drowsy and mostly leisurely soundscapes that move from Radiophonic Workshop influenced weird-outs and mutant lounge music, to stoned horizontal grooves and post trip-hop soundscapes. Interestingly, some of the album's standout moments come laden with woozy electric pianos and the kind of hazy, slow motion guitar motifs that evoke mental images of long, drawn-out sunsets.
