Fast Sound Creation

With its knob-driven interface and diverse effects selection, the ME-90 lets you build configurations and tweak tones with the ease of a stompbox-filled pedalboard-without the hassle of fastening tape, power distribution, and multiple connection cables. Just dial up an amp model or effect type within a category and turn the knobs to get the sound you want. There are 36 preset patches with ready-to-play pro tones, plus 36 user patches for storing your custom creations.

Flexible Real-Time Control

The ME-90 features eight footswitches with smooth, quiet operation and an expression pedal with an integrated toe switch. Use Memory mode to call up complete patch setups with the footswitches, and then switch to Manual mode for direct on/off control of each effect category within the patch. The footswitch LEDs light in different colours for quick identification in the heat of a performance. It's also possible to set all LEDs to light in a fixed colour for each mode if desired.

High-Quality BOSS Effects

The ME-90 puts a massive library of BOSS effects at your command, offering seven different categories filled with selections derived from the flagship GT-1000. Everything you need is here, from overdrives and distortions to pitch/mod effects, delays, and high-quality reverbs. You also get 11 dedicated Pedal FX, a looper, and specialized effects such as acoustic simulation and down tuning. There are 60 effect types in total, with access to over 20 more via BOSS Tone Studio. A send/return loop is available for external pedals, complete with the ability to save the on/off status in patches and place the loop before or after amp models in the signal chain.

Premium Amp Sounds with AIRD Technology

Along with its effects, the ME-90 includes amp models ported from the GT-1000, driven by our advanced AIRD technology for authentic tube tone and touch response. Eleven onboard amp types offer everything from clean combo sounds to punishing high-gain stacks, and you can access more selections in BOSS Tone Studio. Each amp includes a dedicated cab sound for connecting to a PA or recording device, and you can load three of your favourite speaker IRs to personalize sounds to your taste.

Edit, Customize, and Expand

BOSS Tone Studio for macOS and Windows extends your creative range, allowing you to edit tones and change out some amp and effect types with alternate selections. In addition, you can save and organize patches for different gigs, download pro setups at BOSS Tone Central, and swap patches with the ME-90 community on BOSS Tone Exchange. The ME-90 also supports the optional Bluetoothr Audio MIDI Dual Adaptor, enabling you to stream music from a mobile device and wirelessly shape tones using the dedicated BTS editor app for iOS and Android.

Tape Echo Magic

Tape echo was the first delay effect and one of the first effect processors available for electronic musicians. In contrast with today's CPU-based digital units, a tape echo is a simple machine that uses a motor to pull magnetic tape across one or more record/playback heads. Warm, full, and dynamic, the tape echo sound is influenced by many factors. The ever-changing input level colours the sound with varying amounts of tape saturation and compression. In addition, motor speed fluctuations, friction, wow and flutter, and other elements introduce an appealing modulated character that's subtle and continually evolving.

RE-201 Space Echo: Simply Legendary

The RE-201 was a benchmark Roland product and one of the leading tape echo units of its era. It featured three evenly spaced heads that produced a wider range of echo effects than typical single-head designs, plus an innovative free-running tape system that provided superior performance with minimal tape wear. Grab-and-go controls enabled quick access to clean, single delays or various head combinations for dense, rhythmic echoes. A spring reverb tank was included too, making the RE-201 a one-stop shop for quality ambience effects. Last but not least, analogue preamp circuitry was another key ingredient in the Space Echo's rich sonic recipe.

PERKONS - a deity of old known by many names and also by ours on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea - THUNDER, lord of the skies. Erica Synths proudly present our newest creation - PERKONS (THUNDER) - a drum machine and synthesizer that will change your approach to electronic rhythm synthesis - an instrument which bears the weight of a storm beneath its sturdy casing.

PERKONS features four sonically versatile hybrid voices (digital sound engine + analogue multimode filter with overdrive) and a sequencer with simultaneous control over all four percussion tracks.

Each voice has 3 sound engine modes, a HP/BP/LP filter and 8 controls for nuanced sound design, including an internal BBD FX send. All voice parameter settings can be saved as KITS. To add dynamics to the performance, parameter automation is implemented and a modulation LFO can be assigned to all parameters.
For a real thunderstorm, integration with external gear is considered - each voice has a dedicated velocity-sensitive trigger input, individual output and FX send and return with 6.3mm jack sockets, along with extensive MIDI implementation. Notes: The new, 2nd generation Audio Jacks Board comes pre-installed in every Intellijel 7U case manufactured since early 2019. Because this board is more fully featured than the previous generation, it's available as a stand-alone component for anyone who wishes to update an older 7U case.

You can tell which board you have by looking at the connectors. The new Audio Jacks Board has a large shrouded header flanked by two smaller shrouded headers, flanked by two link connectors at either end. Older boards have only one connector along the bottom edge.

The board holds four Neutrik TRS jacks, each of which can be configured as either an input or an output depending on the modules you connect. This allows you maximum flexibility when configuring your case - whether you wish to use the audio jacks as outputs, inputs, sends & returns; or some combination of these.

The jacks carry different audio signals depending on what you connect to the Audio Jacks Board. Please refer to the manual for more details on the many options available.

Notes: The Voltage Controlled Amplifier or "VCA" is one of the most essential and useful building blocks in a synthesis patch. The DUAL VCA 1U packs two high quality, DC coupled, linear VCAs into a very compact 1U package.

The two VCAs can be used completely independently or in tandem via the handy signal normalling. The DC coupling means that the VCA can be used for the amplitude control of both control voltages (CV) and audio signals.

Some application/use examples:

- Dual, independent VCA for dynamic level control of two different audio or cv sources
- Stereo VCA (use the CV normalling where CV A normals to CV B) for processing stereo sources or CV pairs.
- CV/Audio summing (when Out A is not patched, it normals to sum with OUT B, CV A and B control the independent levels)
- Voltage/signal doubling (use input A only and the doubled voltage will appear at OUT B when a CV of +5V applied to CV A)

Notes: Mixup is a versatile, expandable audio mixer for Eurorack format. It has eight inputs (6 on the front panel) and two outputs. Inputs 1 and 2 are single-channel mono inputs, each with its own mute switch and level control; Input 3 is a dual-channel stereo input with a shared mute and level control; and input 4 is an auxiliary unity-gain, non-mutable stereo input.

Using bus connectors on the back panel, you can chain multiple Mixups together in series, giving you the ability to mix together even more inputs, or to create sub-mixes for routing around larger systems.

Because Mixup is designed specifically for audio (and not for CV mixing), it uses AC-coupled circuitry (which reduces the potential for 'pops' when muting and unmuting audio), and it uses audio-grade, logarithmic attenuators for a smooth, even response across the entire volume range.

Notes: Noise Random Tools comprises a collection of useful utility blocks that you could use in many of your patches - Clock, Random Pulse, Analog Noise, Sample and Hold, and Slew.

Notes: Outs enables your modular system to output both professional and prosumer compliant audio, and send it to external amplifiers, mixers, recording devices, or DAW interfaces. Using the L+R Level knob, it scales modular-level voltages down to the level required to drive external gear at either the +4dBu balanced professional line-level standard or the -10 dbV unbalanced standard.

Headphone monitoring is also provided via a low noise built-in headphone amp (with its own independent level control), capable of driving a wide range of impedances - from studio grade headphones to portable style earbuds.

To use Outs, simply connect the final output of your patch to the 1/8" inputs (where the built-in activity LEDs light up to indicate the presence and intensity of the input signal). The left input is normalled to the right, so you can create a stereo signal from a mono source. Or if you have an Intellijel Mixup, you can remove a jumper from its rear panel, and connect it to the Outs module using the 3-pin link cable included with the Mixup.

Notes: This module has 1/8" jacks to accept either mono or stereo audio signals from your modular gear.

It features input level indicator LEDs, and contains all the gain control circuitry necessary to drive external audio gear at the proper levels.

A ribbon cable is included for connecting it to either the Stereo Out Jacks 1U module, or a compatible Intellijel case with 1/4" jacks (e.g. 7U x 104HP, 7U x 84HP, or Palette 62).

Notes: Tangrams

Push (or Pulse) the Envelope

Snappy, classically analogue envelopes with visually intuitive controls. Add a powerful, cv controllable cyclical gate generator, integrated VCA, and trigger buttons -then double it-now you've got Tangrams.

Tangrams, like the Dual ADSR before it, is a dual analogue core-envelope inspired by the Roland SH-101 / System 100m design with several enhancements. Taking further inspiration from trapezoidal function generators like the one on the EMS Synthi, Intellijel have added a voltage-controlled pulser circuit to link the triggering of two envelopes - allowing for delayed one-shots, cycling organic envelopes, and more. In addition, Intellijel added two VCAs for level control of each envelope, or alternatively, direct injection of the signal you'd like to envelope - freeing up your other VCAs.

The Pulser

The Pulser can be thought of as a way to set both a gate ON time (T1) and an OFF time (T2). In this way, you could configure a cycling ADSR that has a gate time that is different from the interval between gates. Alternatively, you can create a sequence where ADSR2 is triggered by a delayed amount of time after ADSR1 is triggered (either cyclically or in a single shot sequence). The panel switches for routing or disabling the pulse sources allow for even more complex combinations of control beyond these examples. This special combination of functions can yield a plethora of interesting and organic envelope and gate patterns to be created; cyclical and single shot.

Notes: Triplatt is a three-channel active/buffered attenuverter and summing mixer. Each channel has a knob, which can function as a unipolar attenuator or a bipolar attenuverter, depending on the setting of its corresponding two-position polarity switch.

Each input is normalled to a built-in precision +5V DC voltage source. With nothing plugged into the jacks, each knob controls a voltage range of 0 to +5 V or -5 to +5 V depending on the position of the channel polarity switch. Outputs A and B are also capable of a range of 0-10 / -10 to +10 when using the special function switches.

Each output is normalled to mix into the output of the channel below, making it possible to do sub mixes in groups of two or three.

In addition, each channel has a "special function" switch to alter its input voltage in a specific way. Channel A has a 2x voltage multiplier switch, allowing you to double the voltage sent into Channel A. Channel B has a +5V switch, allowing you to add 5V to whatever voltage is sent into Channel B. Channel C has a mute switch, allowing you to completely turn off the signal being sent into Channel C.

An analog oscillator and LFO with pure waveforms and precise tracking in a compact package. Perfect as a utility modulation source but equally capable to be used as a primary sound source. Patch it up and let it rip!

Use this module to tap into the 3-pin LINK connector used in several Intellijel products, including Mixup, Pedal I/O and the Palette and 2nd Generation Audio Jacks Board in a 7U case.

The XY I/O uses two 3.5mm TRS jacks, which accept insert cables to provide send/return capability to a pair of Pedal I/O's, or additional stereo inputs (or outputs) to a pair of Mixups, or one of each.

A third 3-pin Link connector on the back panel allows the X and Y jacks to access the L/R (or Send/Return) jacks on a single connected module or case without needing a stereo cable.

Opsix mk II is a digital synth like no other. Based on the sound engine of the original Opsix, the number of simultaneous voices and voicings has been expanded to an astounding 64 voices. The result is superior performance and precise control.

The Opsix Operator Mixer simplified FM synthesis for the first time, making it not just comprehensible but also controllable. With the addition of extra synthesis capabilities and programming, it offered a more efficient workflow and an even richer sound.

Select from a full range of analogue-style filters, from the radical Korg MS-20 low-pass/high-pass filter to the powerful yet smooth KORG Polysix low-pass filter that gives your sound a vintage feel. There are also two or four-pole low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and band-reject filters with resonance.

There's even a built-in spectrum analyser and oscilloscope that gives you visual feedback via the screen on the music you're making.
