Dual-channel drum sample module - 14HP
Notes: Performance oriented Sample Drum brings you two independent drum sounds or loops with plenty of manual and CV controlled parameters. Samples are stored on the microSD card, and OLED screen makes working with samples instant and easy.

Sample Drum allows you to slice up loops directly in your modular system and rearrange them to taste. For processing, there are tuning functions (including 1 v/octave pitch tracking) and virtual VCAs plus AD envelopes. Thanks to the module's dual-channel concept, two loops can be combined. It is also possible to load one-shot samples instead of entire rhythms, of course. A total of six CV inputs guarantees lively results.

Sample Drum is composed of two identical audio players. WAV files (including cue points) are fed to the module via a micro SD card. Loops can be cut into several sections using the Data, Start and End potentiometers. The resulting slices may be played back in any order imaginable. A tune control allows real-time pitch changes. Additionally, there is a virtual VCA plus AD envelope per slice. - But that's not all! There are three CV inputs per channel, which can be routed to any parameters. Eurorack visual generator module
Notes: STRUCTURE is a visual generator module that is based internally on an OpenGL GLSL node based platform. It uses the concept of node structures to push visuals through the system.

STRUCTURE contains a video input system that you can select between two formats, Composite video or LZX 1V RGB (with sync applied to rear of module). The Composite input does full colour decoding. Input video can be mixed through effects, with other generators, effected with audio, etc. Input video can be NTSC or PAL, 480i. STRUCTURE auto detects and converts video inputs.

STRUCTURE contains two mirrored video outputs, both composite, selectable to NTSC or PAL 480i.

Two audio rate CV inputs can be used with audio nodes to generate audio based visuals, effects moved by audio waveform, XY plotting of audio inputs, or just used at low frequency CV inputs when not using audio nodes.

Three CV rate inputs can be used to modulate a variety of controls on each node.

All CV can be set independently to 1V or 5V expected input. Each CV has a scale control and a positive offset control for fine tuning incoming CV voltages.

A joystick can be used to modulate controls in real time, or used to record motion information that is played back in a loop. In addition, the joystick has a metal hat for nice weighted movement.

STRUCTURE can also generate 3D graphics, animate properties of the 3D objects, and allow you to map and node type to the texture of the 3D objects (like video).

Three gate inputs, usable by local buttons as well.

Three macro knobs on the top right, allow for global changes to the output node which are user configurable.

STRUCTURE has a USB input, which you can attach MIDI interfaces, MIDI keyboards, controllers, etc, or even a standard PC keyboard or numeric keypad. You can assign actions or state changes to trigger from any of these input sources.

SDCARD on front and back. Backside SDCARD stores system, front side stores user presets, images, configurations, objects, custom shaders, etc.

STRUCTURE has a full colour 320×240 preview screen which also provides lots of feedback when using.

Quad low frequency oscillator - 4HP
Notes: Module A-145-4 is a simple quad LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator). Not a very "exciting" module, just a bread-and-butter device and a simple demon for work. Virtually in every modular system several LFOs are required for modulation purposes. The module contains four simple LFOs with the waveforms triangle and rectangle. A dual colour LED (red = positive / yellow = negative output voltage) indicates the triangle output of each LFO. The frequency range can be chosen for each LFO individually by means of a jumper between about 50 Hz ... 0.04 Hz (about 20 seconds, jumper removed) and about 2Hz ... 0.002 (about 8 minutes, jumper installed).

The module can be treated as a slimmed version of the quad LFO A-143-3 as it has similar features available. But the distances between the controls are smaller and rubberized small-sized knobs are used. In return the front panel has 4 HP only which is less than one third of the A-143-3. The module is primarily planned for applications where only limited space is available. The functional difference compared to the A-143-3 are the missing sawtooth outputs and frequency range switches.

Noise/random generator - 4HP
Notes: Module A-118-2 is the slim version of module A-118-1 and offers essentially the same features as the A-118-1. But the distances between the controls are smaller and rubberized small-sized knobs are used. In return the front panel has 4 HP only which is half the width of the A-118-1. The module is primarily planned for applications where only limited space is available. The functional difference between A-118-1 and A-118-2 is the additional T&H/S&H unit which is not included in the A-118-1.

The module generates the signals white noise, coloured noise, continuous random voltage and stepped random voltage (derived from the continuous random voltage by means of a S&H/T&H unit).

The noise signal is generated 100% analogue by amplification of the noise of a transistor. White and coloured noise are usually used as audio sources. The random voltages are normally used as control voltages (e.g. for filter frequency or any other voltage controlled parameter).

The A-118-2 gives you the ability to mix the relative amounts of Red (low frequency component) and Blue noise (high frequency component) in the coloured noise output.

For the continuous random voltage the rate of change (Rate) and amplitude (Level) of the random voltage can be adjusted. The continuous random voltage is derived from the coloured noise signal by low pass filtering. Consequently the settings of the controls for the coloured noise (Blue, Red) affect the behaviour of the random voltage! A dual colour LED (red = positive / yellow = negative output voltage) indicates the continuous random voltage.

The continuous random voltage is used as source for the S&H/T&H unit. The type of operation can be set to S&H (sample and hold) or T&H (track and hold). When T&H is chosen the output signal follows the input signal (= continuous random voltage) as long as the Clock input is "high". As soon as the clock signal changes to "low" the last voltage is stored. When S&H is chosen the input signal (= continuous random voltage) is sampled at the rising edge of the Clock signal.

For the Clock signal a "digital" signal (e.g. Clock, Gate, rectangle output of an LFO) is required. It does not work with slowly changing continuous CV signals. Another dual colour LED (red = positive / yellow = negative output voltage) indicates the stepped random voltage.

Triple oscillator module with various modulation possibilities - 30HP
Notes: The latest brainchild of synth pioneer Dave Rossum, TRIDENT is a 100% analogue, triple oscillator module that opens up a universe of dynamic timbral textures.

At its most basic level, TRIDENT is three precision audio VCOs, each sporting a unique variety of control voltage inputs.

The main or "Carrier" oscillator provides its three waveforms simultaneously. The two Modulation Oscillators each have a single output and a waveform selector. The Modulation Oscillators also have a voltage controlled Symmetry parameter which varies the duty cycle of the triangle wave output from sawtooth to triangle back to time reversed sawtooth, and also varies the sawtooth output to have an upward or downward kink in the middle, as well as controlling pulse width when the pulse waveform is selected.

And while each oscillator can be used independently if desired, it's when they're combined into a synchronous ensemble that the real sonic magic happens.

That magic is what we call "Zing" modulation. Each of the Modulation Oscillators can modulate each of the Carrier outputs in an amount controlled by the Zing parameter. Zing modulation is mathematically akin to ring modulation, but due to the synchronization of the oscillators (when an oscillator's Sync button on), the harmonic sum and difference sidetones of ring modulation transform into complex but purely harmonic overtone spectra, which vary dynamically and dramatically with the frequency and waveshape modulations of the modulation oscillators. Each change in the Modulation Oscillator parameters - Frequency, Symmetry, Waveshape, Zing, and (in the case of Modulation Oscillator 2) Phase - will have a different effect on the timbre of each of the three Carrier waveshape outputs.

When the modulation oscillators are set to track the carrier oscillator, the waveshape will remain constant as the carrier frequency changes. In this case the overtone structure is determined by the settings and CV modulations of the modulation oscillators. If instead the modulation oscillators do not track the carrier, some of the overtone structure will vary relative to the carrier frequency.

What all this means is that whether musicians take advantage of TRIDENT's unique synchronous modulation capabilities (which they, of course, should), or just treat it as three superb, wide-range analogue oscillators, TRIDENT offers a vast variety of dramatic sonic textures.

The 100 Grit is a touch-controlled distortion unit inspired by the output section of a vintage synthesizer. Sonically it can range from subtle tone shaping to complete sonic obliteration depending on the positions of the knobs and output chosen

The 100 Grit consists of a low pass filter, VCA, and distortion section with 8 touch points, voltage control overdrive, resonance, and frequency, along with a plethora of feedback paths allowing it to operate as a hands-on performance instrument with or without any input.

The touchpoints enable touch-controlled resistive patching between the cv points (gain, frequency, and resonance), sensitive points in the distortion circuit, and different distortion outputs for a mix of touch-controlled audio rate modulation and crackle box-like noise freakouts.

The low pass filter is a 24dB self-oscillating transistor ladder type with a jumper selectable resonance compensation scheme allowing more bass and volume at higher resonance settings.

The VCA is an OTA based circuit, which when pushed past 75% will impart a soft distortion characteristic, turning a triangle wave into a sine before being finally driven into a square wave close to max. If the levels are kept lower it is a reasonably clean vintage-style output section.

The distortion circuit is driven by the VCA, allowing for a voltage controlled gain amount and goes from heavy to extreme, especially when the x100 gain switch is engaged or the various self-modulation/feedback paths are utilized. The circuit is loosely based on a headphone amplifier circuit cranked into instability and self-oscillation.

Each Audio and CV input is normalized to a different feedback path, allowing for wild, self-oscillating distortions and extensive tone control with no external CV applied, or full control from external sources.

Notes: Clouds, the granular synthesis module from Mutable Instruments, was discontinued in 2017. Supercell brings back Clouds in a more accessible 34 hp form factor, offering an improved user interface and several additional features:

- Each of the Blend parameters (Feedback, Panning, Mix, and Space) have dedicated knobs with their own CV inputs and inverting attenuators (attenuverters).

- The inputs and outputs now have mute switches, stereo VCAs, and separate VU meters. The knobs act as offset controls when their respective VCA inputs are patched.

- A stereo output gain control has been added, providing an additional +6 dB of gain to compensate for low output levels when using certain parameter combinations.

- The complex process of changing the sampling time and managing presets has been simplified with dedicated switches and status LEDs.

- Extensive modulation options for all parameters including direct patching of external CV, distribution of one CV to all parameters via the AUX input, or an internal smooth random CV that is normalized to any unpatched inputs when AUX is also unpatched. The attenuverters control the modulation depth in all three cases. As of firmware v1.01 the internal modulation rate can be adjusted within a range of 1 to 100 Hz.

- The inputs and outputs now include stereo VCAs and separate VU meters. The knobs act as offset controls when their respective VCA inputs are patched.

- Pitch is now controlled by two separate inputs: the V/Oct input is exponential and the Pitch input is linear. When both inputs are used, their voltages are summed.

- A manual Trig switch (for capturing individual grains) has been added, in addition to the Trig input that was present on Clouds.

All other features of the original Clouds remain intact, including access to the alternate modes. Thanks to Olivier Gillet for making the original Clouds hardware and firmware available under open-source licenses. Third-party firmware such as Parasites (by Matthias Puech) and Beat Repeat (by Julius Kammerl) will be supported in future firmware updates after the initial release of the module.

Notes: Triplatt is a three-channel active/buffered attenuverter and summing mixer. Each channel has a knob, which can function as a unipolar attenuator or a bipolar attenuverter, depending on the setting of its corresponding two-position polarity switch.

Each input is normalled to a built-in precision +5V DC voltage source. Notes: The A-141-2 module is an ADSR envelope generator with voltage controlled attack, decay, sustain and release parameters. Other features include LFO functionality as well as digital end-of-attack and end-of-release outputs. Besides positive and inverted outputs there is an output with voltage controlled amplitude available.

Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release parameters of the A-141-2 can be adjusted manually as well as via control voltages. The CV inputs come equipped with attenuators. In addition, a Comm-CV socket was implemented. Control voltages fed to this input influence all time parameters (A, D and R) simultaneously. Thus, it is possible to make high pitched notes shorter and more percussive. - Just like the behaviour of many acoustic instruments. The time range of the envelope goes from 50 microseconds to six seconds. Using a toggle switch, it is possible to increase these values by a factor of ten (500 us to 60 s) or a factor of hundred (5 ms to 10 min). To activate the envelope, there are gate and retrigger inputs.

The A-141-2 is equipped with a normal and an inverted output. Both connectors work with a fixed level. Furthermore, there is a third, variable output. Here, before reaching the out socket, the envelope signal is fed to a voltage controlled VCA. - Perfect for velocity CV signals. A jumper on the circuit board allows you to choose between a unipolar and a bipolar mode of operation. Other jumpers make it possible to normalize the CV inputs.

Last but not least, there are two digital outputs called EOA and EOR, which emit a gate signal after the attack respectively release phase. This is useful for delayed triggering of other envelopes. By connecting EOA or EOR output to the gate input, you can make the A-141-2 oscillate like a LFO. Adjustments to the envelope times change the frequency and waveform. If you connect the Attack CV input to the inverted output or the Decay respectively Release CV input to the normal output, you can alter the curve characteristics.

Notes: Module A-130-2 is the slim version of module A-132-3 and offers essentially the same features. But the distances between the controls are smaller and rubberized small-sized knobs are used. In return the front panel has 4 HP only which is half the width of the A-132-3. The module is primarily planned for applications where only limited space is available.

The module is composed of two identical voltage controlled amplifiers (VCA). Each VCA has a manual gain control (also named Initial Gain) and a control voltage input with attenuator. The character of the control scale can be switched to linear or exponential. All inputs and outputs are DC coupled. Consequently the VCAs can be used to process both audio and control voltages (e.g. for voltage control of the level of LFO or envelope signals). The signal input has no attenuator available but is capable to process up to 16Vpp signals (i.e. -8V...+8V) without distortion. For the processing of higher levels an external attenuator (e.g. A-183-1) is recommended.

The amplification range is 0...1. Even with a higher external control voltage the amplification remains at 1 (kind of "amplification clipping" at 1).

Quad AD-generator with four independent Attack-Decay envelopes - 28HP
Notes: Module A-143-1 is a complex envelope generator that consists of Attack/Decay generators. For the complex envelope generator the four units are daisy-chained, i.e. the preceding unit triggers the following unit. The four units can be used even as four separate AD generators (switch position AD) or AD-type LFOs (switch position).

Details: Module A-143-1 contains four separate attack/decay type envelope generators. Each unit can be switched into a free running mode (LFO mode). The LFO mode differs in several points from a regular LFO (like A-145, A-146 or A-147): The slopes are exponential - in contrast to linear slopes of a normal LFO, and the frequency is defined by both controls. The attack control defines the time of the rising slope, the decay control the falling slope.

Each unit has available a comparator that compares the AD output voltage with a manually adjustable threshold and switches the corresponding comparator output (Cp 1...4) to "high" as soon as the AD output voltage goes in the decay phase below this value. The comparator output is normalled to the trigger input of the next stage via the switching contact of the trigger input socket. Consequently the first unit triggers the second, the second triggers the third and so on.

Each AD generator is equipped with a Polarizer (look at the Voltage Controlled Polarizer A-133 concerning details about the polarizer function) and a mixer that adds up all polarizer outputs. This allows to add up all AD/LFO output signals inverting or non-inverting with adjustable level to the mix output. Additionally a single output (Env 1...4) is available for each unit.

If the trigger input of unit 1 is controlled by a normal gate signal (e.g. from a keyboard resp. MIDI-to-CV/Gate interface) one obtains a very complex envelope signal at the mix output. The signal contains 8 segments controlled by Attack 1, Decay 1, Attack 2, Decay 2, Attack 3, Decay 3, Attack 4 and Decay 4. The transition between the stages (i.e. when the following AD generator is triggered) is controlled by threshold knob. The positive or negative contribution of each unit to the mix signal is adjusted with the Mixing Polarizer control. If the trigger input of unit 1 is controlled by the comparator output of unit 4 one obtains a 8 stage LFO.

The single AD outputs can be used to control VCAs or VCFs that open one after another corresponding to the AD signals (a little bit similar to the Shepard generator A-191).

The default-connection between the four units (CPn = Trig.n+1) can be interrupted by patching cables into the trigger inputs. Consequently the four units can be used as separate AD generators or LFOs. In any case the mix signal is available (e.g. mix of four AD generators or LFOs with adjustable level and sign).

In the LFO mode the comparator output serves as LFO rectangle output with adjustable pulse width (= threshold control).

Each unit is equipped with a separate LED display for envelop and comparator output. The shortest attack/decay time is about 5 ms, the longest attack/decay times are about 3 seconds (attack) / 10 seconds (decay). By changing the value of a capacitor the shortest time can be modified (details can be found here: A100_Capacitors.htm).

The sketch at the bottom of the page shows the module principle with 4 daisy-chained AD units (as predetermined by the normalled sockets), that are mixed with the integrated polarizing mixer.

Regardless of the size of your modular system, the number of modules it contains and its intended use, there is basically only one thing at stake: level adjustments. Often the full level of a signal is too high and needs to be attenuated. Also the reverse case, that it is too low, occurs more often than you think - an amplifier is needed.

Amplinuator 3 cleverly combines both functions. The LEVEL controls attenuate input signals to zero (left stop) or boost them by a factor of two (right stop). In the centre position, the levels remain unchanged. In order to ensure sensitive settings in the centre position range, we deliberately omitted the use of a potentiometer with centre detent. Depending on what you want to achieve, there are four modes you can choose from: First, Next, Channel and Note.

Both First and Next modes are perfect for building your unique polyphonic synthesizer.

The Channel mode lets you choose which MIDI Channel is responsible for which voice. This mode is what the majority of users utilise to connect DAWs or external sequencers.

The Note mode translates data received from MIDI Notes C through G and directs them into the corresponding voices (no matter the octave). This scenario works excellent for triggering drums from drum pads or drum triggers.

Comprised of two identical filter sections that can be used independently via the dedicated Resonance (RES), Primary Cutoff (FREQ) and Secondary Cutoff (SPREAD) controls as well as in tandem via the STEREO FREQ and STEREO RES controls in the centre of the module.

Both the Left and Right Channels feature Single Peak POLE and Dual Peak DIPOLE outputs.

High Pass, Low Pass and Band Pass outputs are individually selected via the switches, situated above POLE and DIPOLE.

The Dual Peak DIPOLE output can be routed either in Series or Parallel with the main POLE VCF while maintaining all possible configurations of the Selected Filter Types.

Series and Parallel combinations will provide capabilities such as 24dB/OCT HP/BP/LP, Variable Width Band Pass and Notch as well as other obscure filter combinations.

FREQ controls the Cutoff of both the Primary and Secondary VCF while SPREAD is used to Match (centre position) or Offset the Secondary Cutoff Frequency by +/-5 octaves..

DIPOLE AB is a Quad Peak Monophonic Output, sharing the same Routing and Topology combinations of the four VCF cores.

The A input (LEFT) provides Normalization into the B input (RIGHT), allowing for a stereo image to be created from any monophonic signal source. All four A/B outputs can be utilized in stereo for more complex stereo filtering applications.

Pre-Filter Input DRIVE Control on each channel will push the input signal into heavy soft-clipping and saturation; adding Harmonic Content and increased low end for the VCFs to bite into. A Sine Wave can be over-driven enough to be useful with pleasing results.

RESONANCE may be nuanced or pushed all the way into Self-Oscillation across the entire bandwidth of 20+ Octaves.

All VCF cores Track 1V/OCT and Temperature Compensated.

The Stereo Dipole can fully function as a Single, Dual and Quad Sine Wave VCO/LFO.

The Series Routing configuration allows for additional tonal oscillation capabilities via the DIPOLE and DIPOLE AB outputs.

In addition to the A, B and Stereo 1V/OCT Inputs, the SPREAD CV Inputs may also be used as direct and accurate 1V/OCT control of the Secondary Peak on each channel.

Individual and Stereo Control Voltage inputs including Attenuators for STEREO RES, RES A/B and STEREO FREQ as well as Polarizing Attenuators for each Channel's FM CV input.

Notes: Audiophile Circuits League VC Dual Amp contains two fully discrete voltage controllable amplifiers with linear characteristic. It is based on a new circuit design which delivers unheard clarity of sound. To this day there is no other VCA using this special technique!

The module offers a very low harmonic distortion in the whole linear gain range, no crossover distortion and no overshoots nor ringing. Furthermore, it has a very high dynamic range which provides a lot of headroom. The VCAs will amplify the input signal very accurately and it will sound crystal clear, without any coloration, distortion or bleed. Each channel has a Gain potentiometer for manually setting the VCA's initial gain and a control voltage input which is equipped with an attenuverter for scaling the modulation.

Thanks to normalized signal and CV inputs, both VCAs can be used in conjunction - great for processing stereo material. Notes: The 100 Grit is a touch-controlled distortion unit inspired by the output section of a vintage synthesizer. Sonically it can range from subtle tone shaping to complete sonic obliteration depending on the positions of the knobs and output chosen

The 100 Grit consists of a low pass filter, VCA, and distortion section with 8 touch points, voltage control overdrive, resonance, and frequency, along with a plethora of feedback paths allowing it to operate as a hands-on performance instrument with or without any input.

The touchpoints enable touch-controlled resistive patching between the cv points (gain, frequency, and resonance), sensitive points in the distortion circuit, and different distortion outputs for a mix of touch-controlled audio rate modulation and crackle box-like noise freakouts.

The low pass filter is a 24dB self-oscillating transistor ladder type with a jumper selectable resonance compensation scheme allowing more bass and volume at higher resonance settings.

The VCA is an OTA based circuit, which when pushed past 75% will impart a soft distortion characteristic, turning a triangle wave into a sine before being finally driven into a square wave close to max. If the levels are kept lower it is a reasonably clean vintage-style output section.

The distortion circuit is driven by the VCA, allowing for a voltage controlled gain amount and goes from heavy to extreme, especially when the x100 gain switch is engaged or the various self-modulation/feedback paths are utilized. The circuit is loosely based on a headphone amplifier circuit cranked into instability and self-oscillation.

Each Audio and CV input is normalized to a different feedback path, allowing for wild, self-oscillating distortions and extensive tone control with no external CV applied, or full control from external sources.
