Notes: Those, who own Moog Mother 32 know, that it requires -5V - +5V on 1V/oct input to operate in full range, while the eurorack standard is 0V - +10V. So, to control Moog Mother 32 from a eurorack sequencer you need to bias a sequencer output for 5 volts down. And vice versa, Moog Mother 32 sequencer outputs -5V - +5V on 1V/oct output, and, if you wish to control some eurorack VCO from Moog Mother 32, you need to bias it 5 volts up. This is exactly what MSCALE does: it has two sections, upper one adds 5V to the input voltage, other subtracts 5V form the input voltage.

The Erica Synths Black Dual ASR EG is a versatile, full analogue voltage controlled looping envelope generator and low frequency oscillator with manually and voltage controlled shape and rate, designed for use in advanced modular systems.

It has two identical parts, each featuring all typical envelope generator controls and bonus features - the end of the cycle output and bi-polar LFO output. When in loop mode the shortest attack and decay settings turn the module into voltage controlled drone oscillator with adjustable waveform (it will not track 1V/oct, though).

Notes: The Erica Synths Black 3109 VCF/VCA is a lowpass filter and voltage-controlled amplifier combo built around the AS3109 VCF integrated circuit, a contemporary version of the IR3109 chip, found on vintage Roland synths such as the Jupiter series, Juno series and the SH-101. The 3109 VCF/VCA is Erica Synths' attempt to recreate the iconic sound of these synths, but there was also an aim to improve upon it. Filters based on IR3109 had several drawbacks, including a volume drop when the resonance is increased so we added a volume drop compensation as well as a built-in VCA for more versatility in compact setups. Additionally, 1V/oct tuning is implemented so you can use this module for perfect VCF keyboard tracking and also as a VCO.

Cutoff - This is the manual cutoff control. An external CV is added to the knob position.

CV2 - This is the second cutoff CV input. It applies the CV without attenuation, therefore here you can connect the CV for 1V/oct tracking.

Vol Comp - This is the volume drop compensation switch. When it is ON, the volume will not drop when resonance is increased.

Audio Lvl - This is the audio signal level attenuator.

Resonance - This is the resonance control. In "classic" mode (VOL COMP switch set to OFF), the volume will drop slightly when the resonance is increased. If you set the VCF to self-oscillate and apply 1V/oct CV, you can use the module as a VCO. It works particularly well as bass drum synthesizer when punchy envelopes are applied to the CV input.

VCF CV1 LVL - This is the cutoff CV attenuverter. At 12:00 no CV is applied, turning the knob clockwise increases the CV amount, turning it counter-clockwise, the incoming CV is inverted.

VCA CV LV L- This is the VCA CV attenuator. If nothing is patched into VCA CV IN, it acts as VCA bias control - you need to dial it all way clockwise in order to open the VCA.

Input - This is the audio input of the module.

VCF CV In - This is the cutoff CV input with the attenuverter.

Output - This is the audio output.

VCA CV In - This is the VCA CV input. Please, note that the input is normalled to +10V and you need a 0 - +10V envelope to fully open the VCA.

The Black 3109 VCF/VCA has a hidden feature - compatibility with the Black Filter Coupler connector. The Erica Synths Black Filter Coupler is a satellite module for the Black High Pass and the Black Low Pass VCFs and now also the Black 3109 VCF/VCA. Similar to classical Moog systems, it turns both high-pass and low-pass filters in to Bandpass and Band Reject filters with adjustable and CV controllable bandwidth and centre frequency and therefore significantly expands the functionality of your modular system. Please note that the Black Filter Coupler works only with Erica Synths modules and you need both the Black High Pass and Low Pass VCFs.

Notes: Erica Synths Black Dual VCF is a dual multimode filter with CV control over cutoff and resonance for serious modular patches.

At the core of this VCF is a highly stable, custom multimode VCF chip AS3320 (produced in Riga, btw). This module can be used as two independent VCFs with simultaneous HP, BP and LP outputs, controls can be linked to stereo application and both VCFs can be chained in series or parallel to the summing output for ultimate modulations. It boosts external signal to modular synth signal level.

With the Pico Input, line signals from, for example, a synthesizer, drum-computer, audio interface or smartphone can be raised to modular level. The module delivers up to 40 dB of gain. Thanks to its two channels, users can comfortably process mono as well as stereo material.

The Pico Input comes equipped with two signal paths. Each signal path features an audio input, a volume potentiometer and an output. Up to 40 dB of amplification are available. Using jumpers on the circuit board, it is possible to dampen the maximum gain to 20 dB. The module's first input is a stereo jack, meaning the user can connect a smartphone or tablet without any adapter cables. In this case, incoming signals are distributed internally to both channels.

Take a DJ-mixer-style combined high-pass and low-pass filter, cram it into Eurorack and you have the DJ VCF. A simple formula, but one perfected by Erica's attention to detail, with CV control and adjustable resonance.

As its name suggests, the Erica Synths Black DJ VCF provides sound treatment functionality typically found on DJ decks - it is fully open when the cutoff knob is set to 12:00. When turned counter-clockwise, lowpass filtering is applied and when turned clockwise, highpass filtering is applied. The filter also has a nice-sounding resonance parameter. This module provides hands-on control over the sound during the performance, as well as unconventional timbre modulations that are hard to achieve with conventional state variable filters. Sample Drum allows you to slice up loops directly in your modular system and rearrange them to taste. The Erica Synths Black BBD is one of kind analogue delay module. It features two BBD lines: short, 1024 stage and long, 4096 stage, that work simultaneously and you can smoothly fade between those two, thus creating distinct multitap effect.

Furthermore, an advanced BBD clock noise cancellation circuit is implemented that reduces unwanted BBD noise without filtering higher frequencies of audio signal. Most of parameters are voltage controlled, which allows to integrate the module in complex modular setups.

Time

This is delay time manual control.

Because of BBD clock suspension circuit, delay time can be pushed in extremely long regions, however in that case BBD clock noise may appear. The Time CV is added to the knob setting.

In level

This is the input attenuator switch. Select among full amplitude, half amplitude and audio off.

BBD mode

This control smoothly fades between short and long delays. Any setting in-between will result in distinct multitap delay effect.

LFO rate

Adjust the internal modulation LFO rate. The internal LFO controls delay time, and it's automatically disengaged, when an external modulation signal is connected. The LED gives visual feedback on the LFO rate.

LFO shape

Select the LFO shape. Three shapes are available - triangle, square and in-between shape - mix of triangle and square.

Input

This is the audio input of the module. This is manual Dry/Wet mix. The MIX CV is added to the knob setting.

Colour

Even though the module has BBD clock suspension circuit, the colour switch provides extra lowpass filtering of the signal. At top setting no filtering is applied, at lower settings increasing filtering is present.

Feedback

This is the delay feedback manual control. In extreme clockwise settings the module goes into self-oscillation, and by adjusting delay time and BBD mode settings, the module becomes a drone machine. The FBK CV is added to the knob setting.

CV level

This is the Time CV level attenuator. If nothing is patched into TIME CV socket, it controls the internal LFO amplitude.

WET out

This is the WET signal output of the module - use it for advanced patches.

Notes: The Erica Synths Black Ring-Xfade is an extremely versatile module for sound shaping. It consists of two unconventional ringmodulators/waveshapers, a crossfader that works both for audio and CV and a VCA. Unlike conventional ringmodulator that works only with a signal present on both signal and carrier inputs, the Black Ring-Xfade passes through the signal without alteration, if no carrier is present, but low level signals on the carrier input result in unique waveshaping. Add the crossfader between two ringmodulators (or as a separate unit) topped up with the VCA, and you have an amplitude modulation powerplant in 10HP!

Ring1 CV; Ring2 CV
These are the ringmodulator carrier (CV level) level controls. Unlike conventional ringmodulator, this one passes signal unaltered, if RING CV is turned down. With increasing Ring CV level a slight waveshaping turns into proper ringmodulation.

Xfade
This is a manual Crossfade control. This fades smoothly between signals patched into XFADE IN1 and XFADE IN2. The XFADE CV is added to the knob position.

Coupling
Set the Crossfader mode - AC is optimized for use with the audio signals, DC - for control voltages (but it will work fine with audio, as well).

These are the Crossfader inputs. They are normalled to the Ringmodulator ouputs, so, if nothing is patched here, you can crossfade between two ringmodulated signals.

Xfade CV
This is the Crossfader CV input. The CV is added to the XFADE knob setting.

VOL CV
This is the VCA CV input. The VCA is post-crossfade - it controls the amplitude of a resulting signal after the crossfader. It will also work with low frequency control voltages applied to the XFADE Ins - nice for designing unconventional modulations.

Ring1 Out; Ring2 Out
These are the ringmodulator outputs.

Xfade Out
This is the Crossfader output and the main output of the module.

Ring2 In; Ring2 CV
These are the second Ringmoduator signal and carrier inputs respectively. These two are normalled to the RING1 inputs, and if no signal is patched here, the duplicate the first Ringmodulator. Interesting trick is to set RING CVs at different levels and crossfade between two ringmodulator signals.

Ring1 IN; Ring1 CV
These are the first Ringmoduator signal and carrier inputs respectively.

Fade L; Fade R
The red LEDs indicate the crossfader position.

Xfade CV LVL
This is a crossfade CV level attenuator. By adjusting it you can control a span of fading between inputs.
