Maxon FWA-10 Fuzz Elements Water Ten Series Fuzz Pedal
Cat: 783307 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Fuzz pedal
Notes: Reproducing the sounds of the EH Big Muff has become a cottage industry within this cottage industry of effect building. Yet with dozens of circuit variations and wildly inconstant component selections, it's virtually impossible to cite any one particular Big Muff incarnation as the most desirable version to pay homage to.

The FWA10 Water narrows the playing field by taking the authentic Ram's Head replication of the Fuzz Elements Earth and adding a parametric EQ circuit to the mix.

Water's powerful parametric equalizer covers a massive frequency range from a punchy 100 Hz to ear-splitting 5 kHz. Select a frequency and then boost or cut to tweak your tone with pinpoint accuracy.

By manipulating Water's EQ, the user can dial in the entire palette of Big Muff variations, from the more mid-heavy, musical snarl of the original Triangle-Knob Muff to the harmonically-rich sustain of the Ram's Head all the way through to the super-compressed, scooped-mid mayhem of the Green Russian Sovtek's.

The FWA10 Water: Why settle for one Muff, when you can have them all?

TECH TALK:
The FWA10 features mechanical true bypass switching, Effect LED Indicator, and 9-Volt DC Battery or external adaptor operation.

Maxon OSD-9 OD Soft Distortion Nine Series Pedal
Cat: 783330 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Distortion pedal
Notes: In 1977 Maxon released their first effect pedal - the OD880 Overdrive/Soft Distortion - and the world would never be the same.

Employing a passive distortion circuit based around the 741 Op Amp (also used in the popular DOD 250), the OD880 was coveted for its warm and natural overdrive tone. The 880 was perfect for use as a transparent booster to take a tube-amp over the edge, offering singing blues tones unrivaled by other boxes.

Japanese guitar legend Char made the OD880 famous as his booster-of-choice, causing original versions to skyrocket into the $600 range on the vintage market.

In the early 90's Maxon reissued a limited edition run of the OD880. Yet with no distribution outside of Japan, this model went largely unnoticed by the rest of the world, leaving its amazing tone a secret to all save the discerning collector.

Now Maxon has once again resurrected the OD880 in the form of the OSD-9 Overdrive/Soft Distortion.

The OSD-9 offers a warm, open-sounding overdrive with a mild high-end roll off. It reacts smoothly to input level changes, offering a highly interactive response to player dynamics. Perfect as a stand-alone dirt box or for pushing an amp, the OSD-9 can also be stacked with other OD's to add clarity and character to their tone.

The OSD offers up all these classic sounds in Maxon's indestructible, industry standard 9-Series chassis. Modern-day utility features such as mechanical true bypass switching and a voltage regulator have also been added to provide smooth, consistent performance.

Over 30 years after the original OD880 was released, the OSD-9 promises to bestow the legendary tones of its predecessor upon a new generation of discerning players - are you ready?

TECH TALK:
The OSD-9 signal path starts with a 2SK246 jFET buffer which provides high input impedance and low output impedance into the 1st Op Amp - a UA741CP. The UA741CP is a vintage style 741 single Op Amp with superior resistance to latching up (distorting in a non-musical way) - it is not as "precise" as modern IC's, giving it a more vintage, warmer, "analog-ish" response.

This 1st Op Amp is set up to provide a 20 to 120x gain in signal.

After the 1st Op Amp we have a pair of diodes to ground, just like classic boxes such as the MXR Distortion+, Pro Co Rat and Boss DS-1. From here it's into another UA741CP with an amplification factor of 10 to boost the signal back to a high enough level to drive the input of an amplifier if necessary - a feature that the Distortion+ and DS-1 do not offer.

From here the signal is routed to a 4558 Op Amp unity gain amplifier, a volume control voltage divider, and then another unity gain 4558 to provide a low impedance output.

The OSD-9 uses a NJM2374A Voltage converter to stabilize the operating voltage at 9 VDC regardless of the voltage level coming off the battery, providing a smoother, more consistent operation and tonality.

The OSD-9 features Mechanical True Bypass switching via a Fujisoku 4PDT switch - the input of circuit is switched to ground when bypassed.

NOTE ON POWERING THE OSD-9 - this pedal's voltage regulator IC requires a high inrush current of approximately 2000 mA upon startup. When using with a Power Brick such as the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+, this pedal should be connected to a high current power jack when possible.

If it is not possible to connect to a high current jack, you can power the OSD-9 by leaving a battery in the pedal. Upon initial start-up, unplug the external DC power input cable, engage the pedal, and then plug the DC power input cable back in - the pedal will now power up normally off the external power supply until you power down your pedalboard.

Maxon FA-10 Fuzz Elements Air Ten Series Fuzz Pedal
Cat: 783271 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Fuzz pedal
Notes: The FA10 Fuzz Elements Air accurately recreates the distinctive square wave clipping and octave harmonics of one of history's most desirable dirt boxes, the Super Fuzz.

The original Super Fuzz was created by Shin-Ei, but saw later incarnations under brands such as Apollo, Shaftesbury, JAX, Tiesco, Memphis, and most famously, Univox.

It was used on countless recordings in the late 60's & 70's, most notably the Who classic Live at Leeds. Long out of production, the Super Fuzz saw resurgence in the 90's during the Grunge & Alternative Rock era, appearing on the Beastie Boys' Gratitude, Mudhoney's Big Muff Super Fuzz album and Monster Magnet's stoner-rock classic, Superjudge.

The Super Fuzz used dual germanium diodes and a unique full-wave rectification circuit to produce sizzling upper octave harmonics as well as subtle lower harmonics that filled out the guitar sound.

The FA10's analog circuitry nails the Super Fuzz's crushing, compressed tone with surgical precision, and includes the two position Tone switch to toggle between flat and scooped EQ curves. These settings produce wildly different sounds, offering stark contrast to one another and effectively making the FA10 two pedals in one.

A unique aspect of the FA10 is its ability to reproduce rhythm or lead lines with equal clarity, yet without changing settings on the pedal.

Featuring authentic Vintage tones and modern features, the Fuzz Elements Air is the perfect vehicle to make your playing soar.

TECH TALK:
The FA10 features mechanical true bypass switching, Effect LED Indicator, and 9-Volt DC Battery or external adaptor operation.

Maxon RTD800 Real Tube Series Overdrive/Distortion Pedal
Cat: 783432 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Overdrive/distortion pedal
Notes: With independent Overdrive, Distortion, Boost and Noise Gate circuits all under one hood, the RTD800 may be the last "dirt" pedal that you'll ever need.

By combining various solid-state clipping stages with a real dual-triode tube, the RTD800 offers a massive array of saturated guitar tones. From traditional tube overdrive through full-on gated metal distortion, no other drive pedal offers this degree of versatility in a single package.

The RTD's 3-band EQ circuit is incredibly versatile and can literally dial in any tone imaginable. With zero frequency overlap, all the three controls are highly interactive and make even the slightest of tone tweaks possible under any playing situation.

The Overdrive channel of the RTD creates a warm, organic tone that's like driving a maxxed-out amp with an OD pedal. Where some pedals can get in the way of your dynamics, the RTD retains an expressive and dynamic interaction between your guitar and amp, cleaning up beautifully when you roll back on your guitar's volume and effortlessly tracking picking nuances.

The RTD's Distortion channel offers up all the gain and character of a hot-rodded Plexi, JCM800 or Soldano. Searing, sizzling solo tones and sustain for days, yet with a distinct clarity that lets individual notes "pop" and chime through. Even at maximum distortion settings the RTD retains an expressiveness and dynamic response that takes your playing to the next level.

For even more versatility, the RTD800 features a foot switchable Boost function that can be varied between 3-9 dB via an internal trim pot. The boost comes post OD/Distortion, allowing the user to dial in the perfect level boost for solos.

Higher gain settings on either channel can be kept tight and noise-free using the RTD's switchable Noise Gate with variable Threshold. The gate itself is incredibly responsive and tight, with none of the false-triggering and "sputter" common to other pedals.

Like all Maxon products, the RTD800 features True Mechanical Bypass switching using a 3PDT switch. The RTD800 comes complete with the Maxon AC2009 9-Volt power supply, an auto sensing digital power supply that can be used anywhere in the world.

When you require an unparalleled variety of REAL-tube tones, only the Maxon RTD800 will do.

With four independent functions averaging around $100 apiece, the RTD800 may be the most cost-effective, versatile and space-saving pedal available.

TECH TALK:
The RTD800's independent and selectable Overdrive and Distortion modes are configured as follows:

The Overdrive circuit features two stages of clipping - a bi-directional clipping diode in the feedback loop of the op-amp and then a single-diode in the second stage for asymmetrical clipping.

The Distortion circuit also features two clipping stages, but configured differently - a bi-directional clipping diode in feedback loop of the op-amp, and then a 2nd stage with a passive bi-directional clipping circuit.

Unlike other tube overdrive pedals, the RTD800 places the tube after the OD/Distortion circuits, making it the best tube overdrive pedal to recreate an authentic tube-amp tone.

The RTD features an In-Rush Current Control system - As soon as power is applied to the pedal, a small current is applied to the tube and begins heating it at a very low voltage (much like a tube amp standby switch). This system dramatically extends the tube life. Once the pedal is engaged, 12.6 VDC is applied to the tube heater.

The RTD800 features mechanical true bypass switching via a Fujisoku 4PDT switch.

NOTE ON POWERING THE RTD800 - this pedal's voltage regulator IC requires a high inrush current of approximately 2000 mA upon startup. When using with a Power Brick such as the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+, this pedal should be connected to a high current power jack when possible.

Maxon CS-550 Stereo Chorus Pro Vintage Series Pedal
Cat: 783420 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Chorus pedal
Notes: With a circuit based around the Panasonic MN3207 Bucket Brigade IC, the CS550's "straight-outta '79" chorus effect is bold and resonant without sounding harsh. Unlike the sterile chorus sounds of the 80's, the 550 has an edgy, almost grainy quality that keeps your tone articulate and prevents wash-out.

The CS550's custom-tuned oscillator circuit provides enough speed for authentic rotary speaker simulation, and just the right amount of modulation for a lush vibrato that won't leave you feeling queasy.

With its Delay Time control the CS550 can venture into Flanger territory, adding a resonant, hollow quality to the effect that's great for solos.

A rear-mounted Blend control allows you to adjust the level of the Chorus effect to set it back in the mix against your dry signal.

A unique feature of the CS550 is its ability to create spatial effects that add dimension to your guitar tone without the traditional Chorus wobble. With Speed and Depth set low and the Delay Time at max, the 550 thickens your sound much in the manner of a double-tracked guitar, adding girth and life without excessive modulation.

The CS550 features stereo outputs for mono, stereo, or inverted mono signal routing.

The CS550 is about as close as you're going to get to the legendary Boss CE-1 chorus/vibrato sound, and also offers many additional sounds unattainable with that vintage gem.

TECH TALK:
The CS550 circuit is similar to the Arion SCH-1 Stereo Chorus, or an updated Boss Chorus Ensemble. A high-impedance input buffer passes next into a Compander stage that acts as a compressor/expander, bringing the input level of the signal up to an ideal output level and keeping it there as the signal decays - this provides a good signal-to-noise ratio and gives the chorusing section a nice, steady signal to modulate.

The Chorus effect is produced by a Panasonic MN3102 low-voltage clock driver IC and a Panasonic MN3207 BBD IC which is controlled by the MN3102.

The Delay Time control exhibits an inverse relation between the delay time and the frequency shift of the chorus - as the delay time increases, the frequency that is shifted decreases. This inverse relation creates "double level" and "cancellation" peaks and notches at particular frequency points to create an amazingly realistic, three-dimensional chorus effect. In addition, the Delay Time control is interactive with the Rate and Depth controls, so that if you increase the Depth, the Delay Time range increases, and if you increase the Speed, the Delay Time changes faster.

After the Chorus section, the signal hits another Compander to level everything out and is then fed to an output buffer.

At the end of the circuit the signal is phase-split and sent to the two low-impedance stereo outputs - Output A is in-phase and Output B is phase inverted (90 degrees out of phase).

The CS550 features Mechanical True Bypass switching on both outputs via a Fujisoku 4PDT switch.

* Please note: Maxon has discontinued the AC210 AC Adapter. Due to this, the Maxon Vintage series pedals will no longer ship with power supply included. The Maxon Vintage Series Pedals can be run with a standard 9vdc Center Negative Adapter. The PA-9 Power-All is receommended.

Maxon DS-830 Distortion Master Vintage Series Pedal
Cat: 783425 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Distortion pedal
Notes: Despite its modest array of controls, the DS830 is one of the most flexible distortion boxes you will ever encounter.

The DS830 can generate insane amounts of gain while still retaining remarkable evenness and transparency. Yet far from being a one-trick pony, the DS830 is also capable of lightly overdriven blues tones and even semi-clean solo boosts at lower Gain settings.

Clarity and punch may seem like self-canceling traits, yet the DS830 provides both. The high-gain settings don't force a particular color on your tone - a great trait if you're pleased with your particular guitar/amp combination.

The DS830's dual tone controls are surgically effective and highly interactive. The Bass knob contributes low-end muscle that makes a combo sound like a stack and turns a full stack into a wrecking ball. The Treble control dials in just the right amount of bite without excessive top-end sizzle. Between the two, you can get everything from penetrating bite to an obese square-wave bordering on fuzz.

This additional tone-shaping makes the DS830 ideal for use with Bass Guitar, generating an edgy, aggressive tone that retains the note clarity and character of your instrument.

For full-bodied distortion with an amp-like feel and a huge variety of useable tones, the DS830 Distortion Master is unrivaled in its sonic range.

*Please note: Maxon has discontinued the AC210 AC Adapter. Due to this, the Maxon Vintage series pedals will no longer ship with power supply included. The Maxon Vintage Series Pedals can be run with a standard 9vdc Center Negative Adapter. The PA-9 Power-All is recommended.

TECH TALK:
The DS830's gain section features a dual-stage clipping design that combines the classic "808" clipping (diodes in feedback loop) with a pair of diodes to ground ala' the SD-9 and RAT. This design effectively clips the signal twice, and the round smooth clipping of the feedback loop followed by the edgier diodes to ground adds a degree of "chewiness" to the pedal's voice.

The DS830 features a complex tone control which acts like an active two-band filter by changing the gain of the treble and bass frequencies going into the Op Amp. The Bass and Treble controls are highly interactive and complementary. For example; turning up the Bass doesn't just add low-end, but will also help to smooth out any harshness in the Treble frequencies.

The DS830 features buffered, Mechanical bypass switching with a low impedance output, allowing it to drive long cable lengths or other effect units without loss of signal.

Maxon VJR-9 Vintage Jet Riser Flanger Nine Series Pedal
Cat: 783398 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Flanger/noise pedal
Notes: Designed in homage to classic 70's distortion modulators such as the Flying Pan and Jetlyzer (both of which Maxon designed and built for Ibanez), the VJR-9 Vintage Jet Riser creates a Doppler jet effect so realistic you can almost feel the wind in your hair.

Rather than sticking with the old-school Jet design of phase shifter into distortion, the VJR-9 features an analog Bucket-Brigade Flanger as the modulation source to add a more realistic depth of field to the effect. Speed and Width controls allow adjustment of the flanging from slow takeoff to sonic boom.

In similar fashion, Maxon has forgone the use of a distortion circuit in favor of a voltage-controlled white noise generator to more accurately simulate the sound of a jet in flight. Featuring a combination of VCA and VCF circuits, the VJR-9's Jet effect reacts to playing dynamics within a range preset by the Sensitivity, Range and Jet controls.

These two circuits can be used separately or in combination to create a wide variety of effects from subtle to extreme - classic chorus and flanging; tremolo-like auto-wah; massive sky-is-falling Jet sweeps; bizarre and other-worldly metallic tones bordering on ring-modulation - all these and more are possible with the VJR-9.

The VJR-9 also features a jack to connect an external switch (bypass or momentary) for the Jet function, allowing the user to add the effect in against the Flange when desired to accentuate certain note, phrases, or song sections.

The VJR-9's internal voltage-doubling circuitry provides maximum headroom to eliminate input distortion. The higher operating voltage also allows it to be used in an FX loop in order to place the effect post-gain.

The Maxon VJR-9 Vintage Jet Riser - get ready for takeoff.

The VJR-9 is an updated version of vintage FL-70 Jetlyzer with added features and superior performance.

TECH TALK:
The VJR-9 features Mechanical True Bypass switching via a Fujisoku 4PDT switch.

NOTE ON POWERING THE VJR-9 - this pedal's voltage regulator IC requires a high inrush current of approximately 2000 mA upon startup. When using with a Power Brick such as the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+, this pedal should be connected to a high current power jack when possible.

If it is not possible to connect to a high current jack, you can power the VJR-9 by leaving a battery in the pedal. Upon initial start-up, unplug the external DC power input cable, engage the pedal, and then plug the DC power input cable back in - the pedal will now power up normally off the external power supply until you power down your pedalboard.

Maxon AD-999 Analog Delay Vintage Series Pedal
Cat: 783426 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Analogue pedal
Notes: The AD999's Delay tone is pure analog heaven - rich, round and three-dimensional, it reacts to your playing and breathes life into your performance.

The AD999 is loaded with eight custom Bucket Brigade IC's for 900 milliseconds of warm, organic analog tone. These BBD's are clocked extremely low to achieve the longest delay time possible, creating a HUGE delay tone that recalls early 70's Pink Floyd with stunning accuracy.

Yet the real magic of the AD999 is in the Delay repeats - they exhibit a slightly overdriven tonality that sits perfectly behind dirty tones and adds depth and dimension to clean sounds. This distortion reacts dynamically to your pick attack, making the initial repeat pop slightly while the remaining repeats blend seamlessly with your original notes.

The repeats also feature a slight EQ spike at around 1.5 kHz, preventing them from getting muddy or non-descript. This also allows the AD999 to maintain presence in a mix without having to raise your volume.

While there are more affordable and more feature-laden Delays out there, you'd be hard-pressed to find one that sounds better than the AD999. When players wax poetic about the mojo and mystery of analog delay - THIS is what they are talking about.

TECH TALK:
A high impedance input buffer passes signal to a Compander stage that acts as a compressor/expander, bringing the input signal up to an ideal level and keeping it there as it decays. This is good for signal-to- noise ratio and also gives the delay chips a clean, strong signal to work with.

The eight x Maxon MC4107D BBD delay IC's are controlled by 2 of the 3 clock drivers in the pedal. These drivers are running the BBDs at a very low clock rate to achieve maximum delay time. This rolls off a fair amount of high frequencies, giving the AD999 its big, warm delay sound.

The delayed signal hits another Compander to level everything out and then goes to a mixer/amplifier that blends the clean and delayed signals and provides a low impedance output.

The AD999 features Mechanical True Bypass switching on both outputs via a Fujisoku 4PDT switch.

Maxon D&S Distortion & Sustainer Reissue Series Pedal
Cat: 783406 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Distortion pedal
Notes: The EH Big Muff Pi defined the guitar tones of the 70's and then re-defined them in the 90's. Yet for all its legendary pedigree, the Pi of today is a far cry from the triangle knobs and ram's heads that came before it.

Originally released in 1974, the D&S Distortion & Sustainer creates the same silky, compressed fuzz that those vintage Muffs are famous for. Yet where Muffs have a tendency to "blanket" your original guitar tone, the D&S retains more of the original sound and feel of your instrument and amp.

By using hand-selected low-noise transistors, the D&S actually offers more gain than a vintage Black & Red, yet with a lower noise floor. That's right - MORE distortion with LESS noise.

The smooth EQ sweep of the D&S Tone control covers a frequency range that is narrower yet more useful than the Pi's - This tighter, more focused EQ provides superior note definition, even when playing chords.

The combination of these elements gives the D&S the ability to produce huge amounts of distortion with minimal alteration to your guitar's tone.

One big wall of raw, grungy nastiness in a box - the D&S takes the sound of the greatest vintage Muff and turns it up to 11.

TECH TALK:
The secret to the D&S' smooth tone and natural response lies in two areas of its circuit. First, the Hi boost/Hi cut Tone control retains low end response while adding top-end clarity to notes. Next, high-grade, low noise Toshiba 2SC1815 transistors offer more intense distortion with minimal noise and signal degradation.

The D&S features buffered, JFET bypass switching with a low impedance output, allowing it to drive long cable lengths or other effect units without loss of signal.

Input Impedance: 500K Ohms

Maxon TOD-9 True Tube Overdrive Nine Series Pedal Maxon TOD-9 True Tube Overdrive Nine Series Pedal
Cat: 783395 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Overdrive pedal
Notes: The TOD-9 takes Maxon's classic OD-9 circuit and adds a tube gain stage at the front end to create an ultra-compact, tube-driven tone machine.

The Maxon OD-9 circuit has achieved a legendary status among tone connoisseurs as the ultimate tool for driving a tube amp. Yet sometimes you need that little "something extra," and the TOD-9 provides this missing ingredient in spades.

The TOD features a mil-spec 5703WB JAN Raytheon sub-miniature vacuum tube complete with its own separate Gain control (Tube knob). This tube stage is positioned at the front of the audio path, driving the OD-9 circuit.

With the Tube knob at zero, the TOD sounds exactly like an OD-9. Engage this control and experience the unmistakable magic of tube tone - a big, FAT, natural-sounding bottom end and the characteristic tube "sag" that makes lead lines sing.

With the Drive knob down, the Tube knob will add warmth and dimension to your tone. With Drive knob up you'll get all this extra girth as well as increased saturation as the tube drives the clipping stage of the pedal.

If big, warm tube tones are your bag, the TOD-9 offers them up in a familiar package that continues to withstand the tests of time.

The TOD-9 provides all the classic tonality of the Maxon OD-9 with the ability to blend in Tube-generated warmth and additional saturation.

TECH TALK:
The TOD takes the classic OD-9 overdrive circuit and adds a mil-spec 5703WB JAN Raytheon sub-miniature vacuum tube positioned at the front of the audio path, driving the OD-9 circuit.

The TOD-9 features internal voltage doublers that bump the incoming 9 VDC up to 30 VDC for stable tone with low distortion and increased headroom.

The TOD also features Maxon's In-Rush Current Control system - As soon as power is applied to the pedal, a small current is applied to the tube and begins heating it at a very low voltage (much like a tube amp standby switch) - This system dramatically extends the tube life.

The TOD-9 features Mechanical True Bypass switching via a Fujisoku 4PDT switch.

NOTE ON POWERING THE TOD-9 - this pedal's voltage regulator IC requires a high inrush current of approximately 2000 mA upon startup. When using with a Power Brick such as the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+, this pedal should be connected to a high current power jack when possible.

Fulltone Secret Freq Dynamic Asymmetrical Clipping Overdrive/Distortion Pedal
Cat: 782869 Rel: 13 Oct 20

Overdrive/distortion pedal
Notes: Not just 'another' distortion pedal. Classic natural, dynamic overdrive and heavier rock distortion, but with a unique narrow-band midrange boost for sweet sustain and bite.

Supplier's Notes:
What's this, another touch-sensitive, dynamic, natural sounding overdrive/distortion to confuse the marketplace?

Nope, this is the Fulltone Secret Frequency. Secret Freq. for short. Although it does the gig-friendly clean boost and OD thing as good as any, it goes well past that when asked to, right into Rock territory while retaining a natural sound.

Dynamic asymmetrical clipping gives the Secret Freq. a sweet, musical clean boost, juicy overdrive, and rich, touch responsive high gain sounds. Not like the PlimSoul, nothing like the OCD, and not like any other pedal, but worth the price of admission were you to use it simply as is for your bread and butter OD/Distortion pedal.

But the 'Freq has WAY more tricks in its bag than your average transparent OD/Distortion... it just may knock a handful of OD/Distortions right off your 'board and straight on to Ebay thanks to another innocent looking knob labeled Freq.

What's this "Freq." knob?

Turn it Clockwise and my proprietary circuit adds as much as 20db of active narrow band juicy MIDRANGE right where it does the most good, it's like installing a wah-wah right where the distortion is being generated. But unlike turning on your wah-wah along with a distortion pedal, with the 'Freq. the bass and treble frequencies don't disappear... Very unique, and not to be confused with a simple active or passive midrange control tacked on to the end of the circuit, as is the case with all other pedals you've tried with a Mid control. Adding the 'Freq's midrange imparts WAY more sustain and lets you easily place the guitar in the mix where you want it, irrespective of volume... soundman's not going to bury you anymore.

What's it sound like?

Along with a slew of basic great OD/Distortion pedal sounds, it allows you to replicate a very, very wide range of your favorite guitar & amp sounds. Remember that when the 'Freq. knob is fully-counter-clockwise the Midrange enhancement effect is OUT of the picture and the pedal is a truly versatile and natural sounding pretty transparent OD/Distortion! At low to mid overdrive settings, turning the 'Freq knob up a little gets hammer-of-the-Gods penetrating PUNCH!

At more extreme (clockwise) Freq settings?

Brings a smile to your face an evokes the coolest Jimmy Page, Brian May, Michael Schenker, Robin Trower, Tom Scholz tones that you just couldn't previously get without a bunch of studio EQ, just the right setting on a great wah-wah, or a slew of British amps.

Distortion/fuzz/overdrive effects pedal with selectable true bypass or buffered bypass modes
Notes: Tone aficionados kept telling EHX's Mike Matthews about a pedal that had achieved a lot of buzz because it was only obtainable at an exorbitant price. That pedal was the KLON CENTAUR.

A believer in bringing great tools to starving musicians, Mike tasked his trusty team to create an affordable alternative, and that is how the SOUL FOOD was cooked up.

The SOUL FOOD delivers transparent overdrive with great touch and response. Its circuitry features boosted power rails to provide abundant headroom and increased definition. Best of all, you don't have to be a rock star to own one!

Singular Sound BeatBuddy Drum Machine Pedal Singular Sound BeatBuddy Drum Machine Pedal Singular Sound BeatBuddy Drum Machine Pedal Singular Sound BeatBuddy Drum Machine Pedal
Cat: 782700 Rel: 15 Jul 20

Drum machine pedal
Notes: The BeatBuddy is a drum machine in a stompbox, or a drummer pedal for short. Use this drum pedal for guitar and many other instruments. Further, we've meticulously recorded professional drummers and paired their samples with an algorithm that results in the best sounding drum machine you've ever heard.

In addition to being the most realistic drum machine on the market, it's also the easiest guitar drum pedal to use. That is to say, there's no fussing around with sequencers, and controlling the beat during a live performance is as easy as stomping on the pedal to add fills, transitions, and outros.

Electro Harmonix Pitch Fork Polyphonic Pitch Shifter Pedal
Electro Harmonix Pitch Fork Polyphonic Pitch Shifter Pedal (polyphonic pitch shifter effects pedal)
Cat: 560349 Rel: 04 Feb 15

Polyphonic pitch shifter effects pedal, transposes over a +/- three octave range
Notes: The Pitch Fork transposes an instrument's pitch over a +/- three octave range and features three modes which allow the pitch to be transposed up, down or both, simultaneously. The pitch shift amount can be set to a fixed interval or continuously varied by an expression pedal or control voltage.

The controls are straightforward and intuitive. An 11-position Shift switch selects the maximum transposition interval ranging from D (Detune), a shift of 17 cents, through Minor 2nd, Major 2nd, Major 3rd, Perfect 4th, Perfect 5th, Major 6th, Minor 7th, 1 Octave, 2 Octaves and 3 Octaves. A three position toggle switch controls whether the pitch is transposed up, down or both. In Dual mode, two pitch-shifted signals are output. One follows the shift knob as if in the Up position while the other creates a harmony. Dual Mode settings include M3 up + P5 up, P5 up + 1 Oct down, 1 Oct up + 1 Oct down and many others. A Blend knob controls the mix of the dry signal and the effected signal, and an EXP jack enables the player to control pitch and glissando with an expression pedal.

The Latch button selects Latch or Momentary mode which affects how the footswitch and EXP input behave. In Latch mode, the footswitch toggles between effect on and buffered bypass each time it's pressed and the EXP input continuously varies pitch. In Momentary mode the effect is only on while the footswitch is depressed and when it is released the Pitch Fork goes into bypass.

In Latch mode the EXP input controls pitch shift amount, ranging from unity to the interval set by the Shift knob, and pitch varies continuously throughout the expression pedal's range. In Momentary mode the EXP input controls glissando rate for the Pitch Fork's footswitch. When the bypass footswitch is pressed, the Pitch Fork jumps from bypass to the interval set by the Shift knob. The amount of time it takes to reach that new note is the glissando rate. When the footswitch is released the pitch will return to unity at the same rate. That glissando time can vary between 4 milliseconds to two seconds depending on the heel/toe position of the expression pedal. The default glissando rate is 60 milliseconds when nothing is plugged into the EXP input.

The Pitch Fork comes equipped with an EHX 9.6DC-200mA power supply and also runs on a 9Volt battery.

Cat: 719369 Rel: 06 Jun 19

Volume envelope manipulation with adjustable Decay & Attack times
Notes: The circa-1980 Electro-Harmonix Attack Decay is a sought after prize among vintage pedal aficionados. Originally called a Tape Reverse Simulator, it’s known for producing volume and reverse swells, backward tape sounds, artificially short staccato notes and bowed instrument effects. The new Attack Decay reinterprets the classic and keeps its cool factor, but adds some modern features for convenience and enhanced functionality.

It can produce a single volume envelope like the original, or, with Poly engaged, put separate volume envelopes on each note you play. The built-in Harmonix fuzz is now a fully controllable distortion with gain, tone and volume controls. The effects loop allows the musician or sound designer to place the volume envelope onto whatever signal is present at the Return jack. Expression pedal/CV input and three user presets give the user total control over their Attack Decay!

Phase machine pedal
Notes: Grand Orbiter is a 4 stage OTA-based phaser with a diverse feature set that can go from stationary and resonant to slow and mellow and on through fast and swirly. It has three way toggle switch to select between the ranges of modulation. The master Rate control fine tunes the speed of the LFO in each of these modes and the flashing red LED acts as a visual indicator, even when the effect is in bypass mode. The Depth control blends the shifted signal in with the dry signal and controls the intensity of the effect. The Sweep control governs the peak frequency of the phased signal's tone, turned full clockwise the sweep is lively and intense, whereas turning counter clockwise yields a darker, more laid back peak. The Resonance provides a wide range of control over regeneration and at higher settings adds a more pronounced and resonant tone. You can also use the Grand Orbiter as a true pitch vibrato with the "Phase/Vibrato" switch. When in "Vibrato" mode, the dry signal is removed and the Depth controls acts as a volume control. This pedal is 100% analog, true bypass and built by entirely by hand in beachy Akron, Ohio.

1. Sweep: Controls the frequency peak of the sweep. Higher peak clockwise, lower peak counter clockwise.

2. Rate 1,2,3: Changes the range of the speed control. Rate 1 is slow mode, Rate 2 is LFO kill to use the Orbiter as a fixed resonant filter, Rate 3 is fast mode.

3. Rate: Controls the speed of the LFO. Faster clockwise, slower counterclockwise.

4. Depth: Controls the amount of phase effect mixed with dry signal. Clockwise for more intense phasing, counterclockwise for less. In "Vibrato" mode, this acts as a volume control.

5. Phase/Vibrato: Cuts the dry signal to create a vibe/vibrato effect depending on the setting of the other controls. Vibrato is created by turning the resonance down low.

6. Resonance: Controls the regeneration of the phased signal. More resonant clockwise, more subtle counterclockwise.

Tech Specs:

This device takes a standard 9 volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel. Pedal-specific transformer-isolated wall-wart power supplies, or multiple isolated-output supplies, are always recommended. Pedals will make extra noise if there is ripple or unclean power. Switching-type power supplies, daisy chains and non-pedal specific power supplies do not filter dirty power as well and let through unwanted noise. DO NOT RUN AT HIGHER VOLTAGES!

Meris Hedra 3 Voice Rhythmic Pitch Shifter Pedal
Cat: 781875 Rel: 15 Jul 20

Pitch shifter pedal
Notes: Brilliantly wonky rhythmic pitch shift effect, capable of twisting and warping your sound into new territory. Tap tempo and MIDI control allow it to be played like an instrument, giving you control of the sound.

Supplier notes:
Every action has a reaction. A single stone thrown can create riveting ripple effects, while a humble key-turn can unlock a flurry of otherwise before unseen and unheard events. This is the magic Hedra bestows upon you and your instrument, seeing you unearth new harmonic sonic chain reactions with every single note played.

The Meris Hedra is a 3-voice rhythmic pitch shifter capable of adding 3 harmony voices to your instrument and with Tap tempo synchronised delay available for each voice, this beauty far transcends the realms of standard pitch-shifting. In addition, pitch glide, micro tuning, 4 individual delay configurations, adjustable pitch correction and midi keyboard control all combine in making Hedra an instrument and sonic experience like no other.

You can keep it simple and just use Hedra as a standard chromatic pitch-shifter. Or you can begin to pile on the intervals and slip into its dancing diatonic dreamscapes, via its 6 different scales and wealth of rhythmical subdivisions. Now turn up the Glide control and hold down TAP for auto-swelling synthy portamento shifts - or bump up the pitch regeneration - and you'll be floating away on clouds of shimmering sci-fi effects. Hook a MIDI Keyboard or a MIDI Sequencer up to Hedra and turn your source instrument into a mind-bending tapestry of harmonies and hard-tuned pitch glides.

Although it adds an entirely new dimension to the humble 6 (or more) string instrument, Hedra is not limited to just guitars. In fact, you can use the pedal on pretty much any instrument or line-level audio signal you want.

Whether you choose to totally transform your beats on a drum machine, harmonise vocals or completely alter additional synths, loops or any other type of audio, Hedra's advanced pitch-shifting palette is sure to transport you and your sound to entirely new sonic worlds.

Notes: Well on its way to becoming a cult favourite already, Empress's Zoia brings modular synthesis to a compact pedal format. Create effects, synths, controllers or modules to integrate with other instruments.

Supplier's Notes:

The ZOIA is basically a modular synthesizer in pedal form. Instead of being a delay effect or tremolo, the ZOIA provides the modules necessary to build a delay or tremolo from the ground up. But since you're the one building it, you can make it do whatever you want. With the ZOIA you can build your own custom effects, synthesizers, midi controllers, and virtual pedal boards. And to make life a little easier, these modules have been created for all your standard guitar effects. So for instance, if you want a phaser, you can just plop down a phaser. You don't have to break out the textbooks to learn that they're built out of all-pass filters. (Of course, if you're a nerd like us, you can use the ZOIA to build them out of all-pass filters).

Old Blood Noise Minim Reverse Modulated Delay/Reverb Pedal
Cat: 782151 Rel: 21 Sep 20

Delay/reverb pedal
Notes: Reverb and harmonic tremolo with modulated delay. Designed to work nicely as a companion pedal to the brand's Rever reverse delay and reverb, but equally potent on its own.

Supplier's Notes:
Looking back on an inspiring year of collaboration with Datachoir, Old Blood Noise Endeavors created Minim, a new pedal built from the foundation laid out by Rever. Inside is a newly voiced reverb with harmonic tremolo, a modulated delay with nearly infinite repeats available, and a reverse section selectable between normal speed or double speed. Sat next to the Rever, it's like a long lost sibling. Put both on your board and see how well they get along.

Features all of the classic Uni-vibe style selections
Notes: NUX Monterey Vibe, born to recreate the grand, yet complex, psychedelic rock guitar sound of the 1960's and 70's. NUX Monterey Vibe, born to recreate the grand, yet complex, psychedelic rock guitar sound of the 1960's and 70's. It features all of the classic Uni-vibe style selections: Chorus, Rotary-Speaker, and Phaser pedal.

We modernized the original 4 stage phaser circuit ( a pulsating bulb surrounded by 4 photo-resistors ) by replacing it with a powerful 32Bit floating DSP to process our custom algorithm. What was the outcome?
A perfect mimic of the complex physical-phenomena of its original analog circuitry. NUX Monterey Vibe generates a truly unique effect tone; a mix of chorus, tremolo, rotary, and phaser.
This unique tone can be found in Pink Floyd's 'Breathe', Robin Trower's 'Bridge of Sighs', and the haunting audio mood created for 'Machine Gun' by Jimi Hendrix.
The earliest Uni-Vibe effect pedal came out in the 1960's. Cutting-edge guitarists were seeking a replacement for the heavy rotary speaker amplifier--configured from a standard amplifier for the electronic pipe organ.

The original Leslie speakers did have a charm of their own, but it was more than compensated for by gaining the phaser effect, and the ease-of-use of a simple pedal configuration. Just like the traditional Uni-Vibe pedal, you can switch between Chorus ( the Uni-vibe effect ) or Vibrato, by simply holding the foot-switch. In Chorus mode, the mix of Phaser and dry guitar signals produces a classic Rotary sound. In Vibrato mode, your pitch modulates between high and low. Both modes yield a rich, vintage vibe at any speed, intensity, or volume.

Notes: Plumesr is a unique, all-analog approach to a classic tube-like overdrive circuit offering 3 different clipping voices, loads of headroom and almost three-dimensional clarity that will push your amp over the edge. The reimagined tone control is finely tuned to sculpt low end, clear top end, and focus midrange with blooming sustain.

Controls:
1. Level: This controls the output volume.

2. Gain: This controls the amount of drive.

3. Tone: More bass to the left, more middles in the middle and more treble to the right.

4. Clipping Modes (3-Way Toggle):

1. Symmetrical LED clipping - More Crunch and Compression.

2. No clipping - Wide open OpAmp drive for clean boost.

3. Asymmetrical silicon diode clipping - More transparency with a loose feel.

Tech Specs:
Flexi-Switchr Technology
This device features Flexi-Switchr Technology! This relay-based, true bypass switching style allows you to simultaneously use momentary and latching style switching.

For standard latching operation, tap the footswitch once to activate the effect and then tap again to bypass.

For momentary operation, hold the footswitch down for as long as you'd like to use the effect. Once you release the switch the effect will be bypassed.

Since the switching is relay based, it requires power to pass signal.

Power
This device takes a standard 9 volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel. Pedal-specific, transformer-isolated wall-wart power supplies or multiple isolated-output supplies are always recommended. Pedals will make extra noise if there is ripple or unclean power. Switching-type power supplies, daisy chains and non-pedal specific power supplies do not filter dirty power as well and let through unwanted noise. DO NOT RUN AT HIGHER VOLTAGES!

Earth Quaker Devices Spatial Delivery V2 Envelope Filter With Sample & Hold Pedal Earth Quaker Devices Spatial Delivery V2 Envelope Filter With Sample & Hold Pedal Earth Quaker Devices Spatial Delivery V2 Envelope Filter With Sample & Hold Pedal
Cat: 781724 Rel: 28 Jul 20

Envelope filter pedal with sample & hold module
Notes: The Spatial Delivery is an oddball, a voltage controlled envelope filter that allows you to step outside the universe of funk while reinforcing your secret love affair with auto-wah. It has 3 modes: Up Sweep, Down Sweep and Sample and Hold.

With Range, Resonance and Filter controls you can get super emphasized filter sweeps in the Up and Down modes. The Range, in combination with pick attack, controls the sensitivity and reaction time of the envelope and thus the width of the frequency sweep. The higher the Range and harder the attack equals a faster reaction time and higher frequency sweep and vice versa. Reign in the controls a bit, add your favorite overdrive/fuzz after the Spatial Delivery and you've got a real nice resonant, cut-through-the-mix lead tone. Crank the controls back up and you're a neo-bedroom rock god. In the Sample and Hold mode the filter is controlled by random voltage and the Range controls the speed. Add a sub octave into the mix (before or after) and you've just created a deep fried space droid computer freak-out. The filter can be cross faded between high pass (counterclockwise), band pass (center) and low pass (clockwise) for a wide variety of voices. The Resonance control goes from zero to the brink of oscillation and adds more body and ring to the filter voice.

Controls:
1. Range: Adjusts the sensitivity of the envelope in Up and Down mode. In Sample and Hold mode, this controls the speed.

2. Mode Toggle: This toggles between Upward Sweep, Downward Sweep or Sample and Hold.

3. Resonance: This is the filter feedback control, it adds more body and ring to the filter voice.

4. Filter: This crossfades between high pass and low pass filters and allows you to get everything in between. High pass is fully counterclockwise, low pass is full clockwise and center is band pass. This is much more useful than a simple switch because it allows you to blend the filters for different sounds!

Suggested Placement
We recommend placing the Spatial Delivery first in your signal chain. However, due to its envelope control, experimenting with pairing and signal chain placement can take the potential of the Spatial Delivery even further.

Keeley El Rey Dorado Overdrive Pedal
Cat: 782412 Rel: 04 Aug 20

Overdrive pedal
Notes: The El Rey Dorado is your go-to box for that Plexi tone. Yes, there is a wide range of 1960s Plexi Amp Tone in terms of power, which tubes are installed, which speakers and/or cabinet is used, but the El Rey Dorado hits the core tone bullseye! One of the many reference points for the tone was the JTM 45/100r full stack. (It's a dead-on reissue Marshallr did with crazy cool custom-made vintage-recreation speakers and dual transformers to transfer the load of the 4 EL-84s!)

The El Rey covers a lot of classic British amp tones by featuring two gain modes with the Power Toggle. With the Power Toggle switch you have control over the compression and harmonics. Low Power mode is louder, has more girth, and has fewer harmonics for a more old-school tone. The High Power mode has more compression, more harmonics, and a tighter, more defined tone. Old-school crunch in Low Power mode, super lead tones in the High Power mode.

Simple as grabbing an open E Chord!

Keeley Compressor Plus Classic Compressor Pedal With Added Tone And Blend Control
Notes: The Keeley Compressor is the most popular boutique compressor in the world.

The Keeley Compressor Plus is the first true advancement in Keeley's 2 and 4 knob compressor line. The new features are simple and straight forward. Now, there is a simple Release Switch that is tuned for single coils or humbuckers. No more wondering if you have the attack or release set right. Your humbuckers will have all the attack and punch that they should. The Tone Control was also added, which emphasizes the most sensitive harmonics that can be lost in compression. The Compressor Plus now sports a Blend Control that retains the peaks in your playing and, more importantly, the proper phasing of your guitar signal. The Keeley Compressor Plus offers the same gorgeous push of frequencies and sweetening of tone that the old comps gave you, now with the flexibility to easily handle any instrument.

The Keeley Compressor Plus is a compressor with an expander/sustainer. Not only does it act as a regular compressor, limiting the peaks in your playing, it adds more and more gain as notes fade out. Now you have sustain. Nothing worse than a note or a bend that has died before its time. The Keeley Compressor Plus adds just the right amount of sustain and expressive bloom to your notes.

The new Release Switch on the Keeley Compressor Plus is designed to make it very easy to transition between single coil and humbucker guitars. Humbuckers have more average energy than single coils which can cause compressors to stay in "compression mode" for a lot longer. When this happens, any series of notes you play will sound dull. With the quick release of the new Compressor Plus, your humbuckers remain true sounding, and each note retains dynamic attack and definition.

The Tone Control is Keeley's own design taken from analog delays and other vintage effects. Those effects used an emphasis circuit to recover treble and highs after they went through the BBD or other analog delay lines. That circuit was then taken and made it into a full fledged tone controll- it is the perfect way to gently add back in those highs lost in the compression process.

The Blend Control is a way of getting the peaks to come through while having sustain at the same time. So if you want sustain more than peak-limiting, this style of Manhattan Compression is for you! Keep all the peaks and transients with the Blend and Tone Controls while adding sustain on the back end. Heaven!

This compressor isn't just for heavy funk or chicken pickin' anymore. The new Compressor Plus is for players wanting a smooth, subtle wash from their guitar. Remove just the right amount of peaks for an ambient layer and then blend in the right amount of treble for a nice shimmer to your guitar. Use with your favorite fuzz to create a wall of tone like you've only heard on records. Looping has never been easier than with this compressor. Consider it an essential tool when creating loops that sound well-balanced. Forget it all and use the Compressor Plus for the best amp boost you've heard. Nothing pushes an amp better than the Keeley Compressor Plus.

The Holy Grail Max provides four carefully crafted reverbs: Spring, Hall, Plate and Reverse. A newly designed analog wet/dry control yields a constant volume curve as the Blend knob is turned from fully dry to fully wet, while also keeping the dry signal analog through the pedal.

The pedal's left side features the Holy Grail Max's controls and independent footswitch while the right side is dedicated to the Soul Food's controls and footswitch.

A toggle effect-order switch, located in the middle of the Turnip Greens, selects whether the overdrive or reverb is first in the effects chain. Send and Return jacks let the player insert effects into the signal path between the two. With the switch to the right the signal chain is Soul Food ? Holy Grail Max which produces a traditional sound familiar to most players. In the left position the signal chain is Holy Grail Max ? Soul Food. Now the reverb is boosted by the overdrive which, when used in conjunction with pedals in the effects loop, can create very lush textures.

The Turnip Greens features an internal switch that lets the player select between true bypass or buffered bypass for the Soul Food section. In true bypass mode, when the Turnip Greens is set to bypass, the input jack is connected directly to the amp jack and nothing else. In buffered bypass mode, the bypass signal passes through a high-quality buffer circuit before it is output from the Amp jack.

Electro Harmonix Flatiron Fuzz & Distortion Pedal Electro Harmonix Flatiron Fuzz & Distortion Pedal
Electro Harmonix Flatiron Fuzz & Distortion Pedal (fuzz / distortion effects pedal)
Cat: 713635 Rel: 10 Dec 18

Classic op-amp powered fuzz/distortion
Notes: The new Flatiron Fuzz is a classic op-amp powered fuzz/distortion. With its late '70s style circuit and symmetrical hard clipping, it's EHX's take on the RAT2 pedal, only we think it's better.

The Flatiron Fuzz is extremely versatile. At lower drive settings it remains fairly clean and adds a pleasing mild distortion. As the drive is turned up it transports you to a world of arena rock and produces spectacular, thick, meaty tones.

The stellar sound of the Flatiron Fuzz is a result of its classic, late '70s style circuitry and the fact that it delivers symmetrical hard clipping. As a point of reference, you might refer to the old Rat pedal, but we think you'll prefer the Flatiron.

The Flatiron Fuzz features three controls: Volume, Drive and Filter. Volume sets the output level while Drive adjusts the amount of sustain and distortion. The unique Filter control is actually a low pass filter with a movable cut-off frequency. This is especially cool because it lets you dial in just the right amount of high-end... from dark to raunchy.

Electro-Harmonix trivia: The Flatiron Fuzz is named after the historic Flatiron Building in New York City. It's an iconic landmark located just down the block from EHX headquarters in the 1970s and it's the building pictured on the pedal.

The RAT2 is a trademark of Act Audio.
