Review: Who doesn't love Toy Story? It's an on going classic with a heart of gold, some of The best animation in the film world and most loveable characters to ever make the silver screen. Whether young or old, snuggling down to watch this sone is always a treat, and now you can bring some of that magic onto your decks with the red vinyl compilation album. It brings together some of the best tracks and favourite musical moments of the movie such as, of course the most notable song of them all, 'You've Got A Friend In Me (Para El Buzz Espanol)' as well as 'I Will Go Sailing No More' and 'We Belong Together.'

If I Had To Say Goodbye (4:41)
Bahama Rhama (6:05)
If I Had To Say Goodbye (extended version) (7:40)
Review: Way back in 1983, American musician Chris McCaa assembled a band and recorded one single as the Redhots - a dewy-eyed, AOR-leading Balearic ballad called 'If I Had To Say Goodbye'. At the time, McCaa slapped it on a 7", alongside the Brazilian-influenced jazz-funk sunshine of 'Bahama Rama' (another gorgeous, largely unknown gem), and released it himself. Mercifiully, it has been saved from obscurity (and eye-watering second-hand prices) by MISS YOU, who have decided to issue it on 12" for the first time. We get freshly remastered versions of both original tracks, alongside a gorgeous extended edit - created specifically with this release in mind - which ups the Balearic factor considerably. The resultant light-touch revision sounds like Chris Rea's Balearic classic 'Josephine', only miles better.

Review: The Rimini Rimmers aka Nijmegen pair Derksen (Slowpoke) & Wolters (JMMSTR) debut on the latter's label with the super limited 12" Coke Rock Disco Edits Vol 1. Pressed in a quantity of just 100, this hand-stamped 12" finds the Dutch pair plundering the disco archives for some nicely quantized, and heavily treated edits that should fill the needs of any self-respecting discotheque dancefloor. Of the four cuts, "Tonight Dub" will be familiar to any disco scholars but fair play to the Rimini Rimmers for the manner in which they've deployed their box of FX heavy studio tricks.

Let's Change The World (4:15)
Just That Way (3:30)
Coming Undone (3:20)
Rock Around The Clock (2:15)
Review: With the lead track a jangly, brass-infused, upbeat celebration of hope and the increasingly-unbelievable idea that we can stop impending doom in its tracks and safeguard the planet, its flora, fauna, and people, complete with pro-diversity music video, you could be forgiven for thinking former-Beatles drummer Ringo Starr had woken up and forgotten what year it was.

In reality, although somewhat out of place amid 2021's pandemics, immigration rows, environmental catastrophe, and general cynicism, the track is exactly what the doctor ordered. If medical professionals prescribed music. It's positive, it's determined, and most importantly it's not self aware but instead unabashedly optimistic. With this in mind, our best advice is to jump on board - not least as there's a further three tracks on offer, all of which are equally potent.

Review: A new three-track EP from Monica Rocha and Malik Malo, two prominent modern-day Chicano soul artists. While this lesser-known soul subgenre originally made its mark among a mixture of Mexican-American and Black musical cultures throughout the southwestern United States, the style has found more recent resurgence in urban hubs like California. Produced by Edward 'E-Dub' Rios, these two heaters are cover-flips of Smokey Robinson and Betty Wright respectively, and effortlessly channel the low-slung heat that could only be found in the city of angels.

Review: This latest Record Store Day 2020 treat is a colourful 10" picture disc with two The Rolling Stones live recordings that have never been commercially available before. On side one is 'Rock & A Hard Place' as played live in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It's a big licking affair with jangling guitars and driving drums making for an energetic cut. Flip it over and you'll head to Tokyo, where 'Almost Hear You Sigh' was recorded. It's a more downbeat and tender tune that works as a nice yin to the opener's yang.

Review: It won't have passed you by that the world's longest running (and most commercially successful) rock band is back. The big news, of course, is that the Rolling Stones have recorded their first album of new material in 18 years, Hackney Diamonds, which will appear in stores and online next month. To whet the appetite of fans old and young, they've served up 'Angry' - a one-track CD single that has been manufactured in relatively limited numbers. To be fair to the old timers, it's genuinely 'prime' Stones fair - all gnarly rhythm and blues riffs and sprawling solos (courtesy of Keith Richards, of course), yelp-along vocals from the effervescent Mick Jagger, and a suitably sturdy rhythm section. A return to form, as many critics have already pointed out.

Review: Rock Hall Of Fame nominee Todd Rundgren is an accomplished songwriter and ever-innovative producer. Here he links up with someone just as talented in the shape of Sparks, who is an eclectic and quixotic creative and pillar of the modern musical world. 'Your Fandango' (served up here on a limited coloured vinyl 7") is the third single from Rundgren's forthcoming Space Force album. It's a wall of sound with space rock riffs, gauzy textures and freaky vocals. After this comes the album with guests spots from Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo and Muslim hip hop artist Narcy amongst much more.

Review: While he lived a musical life that spanned from boogie to gospel before he passed away in 2016, Nairobi's David Waciuma didn't get to record much. He was known much more for his live performances with bands such as The Monks Experience then, later, Rapture Voices who he recorded these two records in the mid-70s. "Devil Go" is a thumping rhythm and blues call and response piece while "Jesu Kristo" hits with more of a frazzled bluesy funk. Both make you wish he recorded much more.

Review: Twenty years ago it sounded like an oddly poignant evocation of pre-millennial tension. Two decades later it stands as an eerily prescient glimpe into the technological alienation and dislocation of of a new era. Yet more importantly, OK Computer is no more or less than a sparkling, dramatic and moving collection of songs that haven't lost any of their impact in the interim. The sound of a band stubbornly refusing to follow up the stadium-strafing stylings of its predecessor The Bends - and instead bursting headlong into experimentation and wild creativity -is portrayed in still more vivid colours by the alarmingly strong collection of out-takes and B-sides collected herein, Yet there's no getting away from the chill and spark that marked out OK Computer from everything surrounding it in the post-Britpop malaise, and continues to do so in the pre-Brexit counterpart.

Review: "In Rainbows", Radiohead's seventh album, finally gets a physical release! It's one thing downloading this landmark album, but to actually hold this is something special. Not only do you get increased sound quality, but you also get the amazing artwork from Stanley Donwood. This album includes "Nude", a live favourite for many years that was originally written during the "OK Computer" sessions. More minimal that their "Kid A" period, "In Rainbows" does something that very few albums have done - its sound is distinct from previous Radiohead albums, but is still clearly Radiohead. Hail to the kings, they are back on top form.

Review: There was naturally much excitement when A Moon Shaped Pool, Radiohead's surprise ninth studio set, popped up on streaming and download services back in May. Here it gets a CD release, offering those who prefer physical products a chance to bathe in its' woozy eccentricities. Seen by some as a return to their arty rock roots following an extended period spend exploring electronics, the album's 11 tracks draw on a variety of influences (krautrock, ambient, Pavement, James Blake, Stockhausen, intense melancholia etc.), with predictably impressive results. Occasionally elegant, string-laden and grandiose, always beautiful, and sometimes intensely moving, A Moon Shaped Pool is undeniably up there with the band's best work.

A quarter century old now, yet these art-rock giants and eternal malcontents seem as restless in their muse and motion as ever - still chronicling an increasingly complicated and strenuous age yet doing it with finesse, grace and innovation. The urgent, invigorating strains of single 'Burn the Witch' were no anomaly, and 'A Moon Shaped Pool' shows them shaking off the more insular tendencies of their last opus 'King Of Limbs' to engage and electrify in a way that they haven't truly managed for years - radiant, celestial ambience shares space here with impressive ire and emotional engagement, with these peerless experimentalists delivering a record that transcends both their own work and the vast majority of the musical landscape they survey.

Review: L.A-based cross-cultural fusionists Rainbow Arabia were always going to have a hard task following up their superb 2011 set, Boys & Diamonds. Joining the dots between leftfield synth-pop, African rhythms and Asian melodies, it was something of a kaleidoscopic delight. FM Sushi, their third full-length, doesn't have the same instant impact, but it's still mighty impressive. Stripped of most of their global influences, it instead delivers a glistening swathe of deep and melodic synth-pop cuts bristling with vintage synths and melancholic atmospherics. If you can imagine Behaviour-era Pet Shop Boys with a female singer and crisper, sharper synths, you're close.

Review: Last time out, on 2016's The Getaway, Red Hot Chilli Peppers made the perhaps bold decision to record with Danger Mouse. This time round, on their first album since, they've not only reunited with the producer who has worked with them the most, Rick Rubin, but also 'golden-era' guitarist John Frusciante (whose last involvement with the LA band was back in 2006). As a result, Unlimited Love has an undeniably nostalgic, anything-goes feel that channels the spirit of their 1990s work without consistently sticking to its' funk-fuelled alt-rock sound. Fans, then, will likely love the album, with highlights including the languid Californian stoner funk of 'Poster Child', the lighters-aloft anthem-in-waiting 'Black Summer' and the semi-acoustic beauty of 'Not The One'.

Review: Given their predilection for getting out of their minds throughout much of their early years, it is a wonder that Red Hot Chili Peppers are still here at all, let alone able to cook up a new studio album. Unlimited Love is the twelfth full length from the legendary rockers, with the old school line up of Chad on drums, flea on bass, John on guitar (for the first time since 2006) and Anthony leading the vocals still intact, while old producer Rick Rubin is also back on board for the first time since 2011. It finds them wanting to "shine a light in the world, to uplift, connect, and bring people together" and features songs "reflecting our view of the universe."

Review: Attention, fornicators: there's a brand new RHCP album on the horizon, and it's set to be a stonker. 'Unlimited Love' is the band's first recording with guitarist John Frusciante since 2006, and is a welcome return following his various electronic stints and solo projects. Lead single 'Black Summer' heads up the project, fleshing out a more melancholy sound compared to their earlier works, yet still calling attention to Frusciante's iconic surf jamming and Chad Smith's up-down rhythm section. This new album, in their own words, had the band "enrapt".

Review: Red Hot Chili Peppers are back with their twelfth studio album, and most significantly it welcomes back John Frusciante to the fold after he amicably departed the band back in 2009 to focus on his electronic music production. Rick Rubin is in the production seat, and overall it's the sound of the Chili Peppers doing what they do best, with all the classic ingredients. From the epic anthem 'Black Summer' to moody ballad 'Not The One' and the playful funk of 'Poster Child', there's everything you could want from the band as they stride into their fourth decade of active service.

Now Laurie Anderson has partnered with Light In The Attic to begin the Lou Reed Archive series with this remarkable offering - a collection of raw demos recorded by Reed with his Velvet Underground bandmate John Cale. Amongst the tracks included are stripped back versions of 'I'm Waiting For The Man', 'Pale Blue Eyes' and 'Heroin' which are surely the earliest known takes of these eternally cherished songs. Remastered with care and released in tandem with the New York Library's exhibition of his works, this is a stunning, intimate document of one of the world's greatest songwriters. This is the cassette edition, lovingly transferred to tape for those still embracing the spool-based listening experience.

Review: A new early cornerstone for Velvet Underground fanatics, 'Words And Music May 1965' is Lou Reed in his earliest incarnation, spanning some of the artist's earliest-known recordings. Demo versions of 'Heroin' and 'Pale Blue Eyes' both make appearances, while seven further completely unreleased and unheard songs also come to fruition. The earliest is a doo-wop serenade recorded in 1958, when Reed was just sixteen years old.

Review: Alternative rock icon and Velvet Underground alumni Lou Reed had a solo career as strong as any. This special Record Store Day release captures him playing live at Alice Tully Hall, which was the gig that marked his first ever solo performance during his Transformer tour. He was joined don stage by a funky guitar combo known as The Tots who offered a highly energized accompaniment to Reed's work. Classics like 'Heroin,' and 'Sweet Jane' featured next to songs from his first two solo albums, Walk On The Wild Side and Vicious. As a special RSD Black Friday deal this comes on burgundy vinyl with a new essay by Ed McCormack.

Review: Originally released Stateside six weeks ago but now finally available in the UK, this deluxe vinyl reissue of Magic & Loss should be an essential purchase for all vinyl loving Loud Reed fans. The set itself remains one of Reed's most dynamic and well thought out solo sets, with his usual grizzly guitars and even grizzlier vocals being toned down in favour of half-sung, half-spoken monologues, lighter arrangements, and occasional bluesy touches. This time round the album has been remastered, pressed to heavyweight vinyl, and stretched across three sides of wax (the fourth side features a rather fetching etching). There's also a tidy new insert. Yes, it costs a bit more than a regular gatefold reissue, but the extras are worth it.

Review: Lou Reed's Transformer was a turning point in the career of the legendary Velvet Underground frontman and later solo musician. Released in 1972, the album saw Reed embrace glam rock and make a break from his previous work with his band and the Velvet Underground. Fun fact: David Bowie produced the album and also contributed backing vocals on 'Satellite of Love.' Transformer remains a seminal work in Reed's oeuvre, and this reissue on Sony is a welcome addition to his legacy.

Review: Remarkably, it's 25 years since the release of Lou Reed's seventeenth solo album, Set the Twilight Reeling. To celebrate this significant anniversary, Reed has decided to offer-up a fresh vinyl edition, this time on audiophile-friendly heavy wax with an accompanying booklet. To aid sound quality, the album has now been stretched over three sides of vinyl, with the fourth featuring an etched image of the album's artwork. It's a beautifully presented reissue all told, though it's the quality of the music - typically fuzzy, lo-fi and dominated by the twin attractions of Reed's proto-punk guitars and weather-worn vocals - that impresses most. While not one of the most celebrated sets in Reed's epic catalogue, Set The Twilight Reeling is still a hugely impressive and involving album.

Review: We all may have wondered when we might hear something from Lou Reed's extensive archive of unreleased works. For the dedicated collectors, this deluxe edition comes with a bonus 7" and a 28-page book in a die-cut sleeve.

Review: In May 1965, a young Lou Reed, accompanied by future band-mate John Cale, recorded a demo tape of songs, stuck it in an envelope and mailed it to himself in order to retain proof of ownership of the copyright. He kept hold of the unopened envelope for nearly 50 years, and now Light in the Attic have reached agreement with Reed to release it. As you'd expect given the tape's vintage, it's more bluesy, folksy and shot through with Americana than Reed's later garage-rock and proto-punk releases; a set of superb, far-sighted and genuinely ground-breaking songs with Reed and Cale singing straight to tape with the backing of little more than an electric and acoustic guitar.

Le Bataclan 1972 captures the moment at which Lou Reed, Nico and John Cale all came together at the legendary Paris venue for the first time since (the three founding members of) The Velvet Underground split up as a unified band. Proving that collaborative sovereignty can still go on strongly, despite the symbolic dissolution of what we call a 'band', this much-bootlegged gig was famous for the performers' conscious decision to perform each other's solo works, celebrating mutual individuality rather than complete unity. With 'Candy Says', 'Pale Blue Eyes' and 'All Tomorrow's Parties' all featuring, this isn't just a social experiment either - it has full appeal for new and old Velvet Underground fans alike.

Review: On 29 January 1972, Lou Reed, John Cale and Nico reunited on stage for the first time since the breakup of the Velvet Underground. The concert, which took place at Le Bataclan in Paris, became legendary - in part because bootleg recordings circulated for years before the set was eventually officially released in the 2000s. It remains a fine concert, with much-loved Velvet Underground staples being supplemented by group performances of solo songs from all three artists. There are some real gems stretched across the album, including inspired versions of 'Berlin', 'Heroin' (where Cale's viola catches the ear), 'All Tomorrow's Parties' (very dark, folksy and stripped-back) and 'Femme Fatale'.

Review: If it's both garage-rock ramalama and infectious songwriting you want, not to mention a record that sounds like it's been beamed in staight from 1966, look no further than the current project of Greg Cartwright, legendary progenitor of The Oblivians and The Compulsive Gamblers amongst others, whose incredible tunesmithery as well as his sheer joie-de-vivre have been responsible for some of the most memorable moments of the last twenty years in garageland. "Reigning Sound" takes a more laidback, organ-assisted and string-abetted tack, blending its rock'n'soul blasts with country-tinged melancholy and Brill building finesse, yet always with Cartwright's impossible-to-resist presence at front and centre. You're unlikely to hear an old-fashioned rock 'n' roll record this year that you're likely to want to spin over and over like this one.

Review: It's vital that the uninitiated understand one thing about 21-year-old Alexander O'Connor - his infectious and well crafted pop tunes are almost destined to bore a hole into your brain and stay there for quite some time. Like Michael Buble meeting Ed Sheeran at someone's Macmillan Coffee Morning. If that sounds even vaguely off-putting then this one clearly isn't aimed at you. But it is aimed at those who appreciate artists that can switch between a kind of Grammar school rap delivery, croonerdom and uptempo boy band business. From the piano and vocal R&B number "Pluto Projector", to the chart-friendly freight train of "Never Had The Balls" and the light acoustic guitar soul effort "Stressed Out", O'Connor's third studio album "Pony" is an incredibly sweet introduction to an artist who's clearly packing plenty of talent.

From Santana’s Gregg Rolie to Toto’s Steve Lukather, Average White Band’s Hamish Stuart to Men At Work’s Colin Hay, there is some serious music industry heritage and high-level musicianship at work amongst those dudes. Starr doesn’t waste the opportunity, running through a gamut of hits across an extended performance time, now captured on this two-disc set.

The show featured Greg Rolie (from Santana), Steve Lukather (from Toto), Hamish Stuart of Average White Band and Men at Work's Colin Hay. They worked through a fairly epic mix of classics with plenty of live and raw energy. Tunes such as Black Magic Woman originally by Santana, Toto's 'Rosanna' and 'Pick Up The Pieces' from Average White Band all featured. They all sound razor sharp as this one comes on double CD with a Blu-Ray.

Let's Be Friends (4:14)
Free Your Soul (feat Dave Koz & Jose Antonio Rodriguez) (5:27)
Review: Recorded at home in Ringo Starr's Roccobella West studio, the former Beatles drummer has drafted a number of long-term partners in crime for his latest release. Those names include Steve Lukather, Linda Perry, Fave Coz, Jose Antonio Rodriguez, and Bruce Sugar, among others. But, ingredients aside, what's the end result actually like?

Well, for one thing, it feels like a record made with camaraderie. The appropriately-titled 'Everyone & Everything' has a definite Fab Four vibe to its outro, requesting that all in earshot get involved in a chorus designed to get everyone and everything singing along. 'Let's Be Friends' takes that atmosphere to the after party, "Ya, ya, ya, ya" vocal hook making the whole thing sound slightly madcap. Meanwhile, closer 'Free Your Soul' invites us into smoother and sexier surrounds via sax and tropical beats.

Review: Transmitting from 1983 and finally back in print again after a long time out of print, this is the sound of the former Beatles drummer teaming up with Eagles main man Joe Walsh for a set of tight, focused AOR rock with a touch of that playfulness that Starr brought to all his solo work. Highlights include the talkbox boogie of 'Be My Baby', which really brings Walsh's involvement to the fore, and the sparse, funk-informed 'I Keep Forgettin'. Clearly taking a shot at the spikier strains of alternative rock which were taking over in the early 80s, Old Wave is a treasure for fans of Starr to revisit after all this time.

Review: Grammy-nominated rockers Rival Sons punch hard on their latest album - perhaps harder than they have before. But then that's exactly the outfit's modus, with guitarist Scott Holiday making it clear that the band are resolutely determined to progress, develop, step up, and push forward with every effort they bestow on us. To say that's audible when casting an ear over their back catalogue would be an understatement, not that preceding efforts like Hollow Bones, Great Western Valkyrie and Feral Roots weren't all commendable. Nevertheless, there's definitely growth evident when taking a listen now compared with back then. Running from full throttle, sweat inducing, guitar-fuelled adrenalin in song form, through to sweeping and grandiose tracks and onto more reflective acoustic moments, in world that often feels slightly lacking in terms of real modern rock greats, this is one example of where you can still find plenty of life.

Review: There's bound to be a bit of hype about this debut album from RNDM, a trio featuring acclaimed alt-rock singer/songwriter Joseph Arthur and Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament. It's the latter's involvement, providing heavyweight basslines that propel the action forwards, that gives Acts much of its drive. Musically, it's a curious set, at times variously sounding like a cooler U2 ("The Disappearing Ones"), a middle of the road Beck ("Modern Times"), a less dreary David Gray ("Cherries in the Snow") and a Stone Roses tribute band ("Hollow Girl"). While that might sound a bit odd, in practice it actually works really well, ensuring that Acts is an enjoyable debut.
