Review: We've very much enjoyed the return of trance to the underground and though purists will say the sound has never gone away, it sure has been some years since trance, for right or wrong, has been seen as cool. Now it is permeating all worlds from electro to techno to house and this EP does that as well as any we have heard recently. TYWI opens with the prog-tinged house banger that is 'Reality Checkpoint' complete with serene synth work and euphoric energies. After the more nimble Maruwa remix comes the cosmic trip that is 'Spellbound' and the lush and widescreen designs of the uplifting 'Laws of Motion'.

Review: Planet Trip returns with its twelfth release which is by Tempo Temple aka label staples Caravan & Lord Safari, with a heavy 12' of elevated machine jams and dancefloor ready heaters. It begins with the celestial acid of 'Spell' followed by the deep and tunnelling chugger 'Enter The Temple' (Outstanding Invoice mix). On the flip, venture deep into the exotic on 'Days Of Chandra', be further entranced on 'Nights Of Chandra' before the break of dawn that sets the stage for some sunrise breaks on the Transit State remix of the A1 track.

Review: Berlin record label System Error's sub-label Fresh Tunez lays out the mission statement for its newest FRESH series with the vinyl debut of Parisian producer and DJ Paul Tellimerg with a fresh four-track EP. The opening track 'Alpha Synthesis' is a midtempo tech house groove that evokes the sound of his acid techno contemporaries like Manami's liquid 'Lizard Den'. The retro-futuristic progressions are dualistic on the two sides, Side A being the forward-thinking tech-raver counterpart to Side B's more retro-feeling tunes. 'Watchmen' has proven itself as a fan favourite, the industrial influence giving it a dark undertone that feels right at home in a dark club with its thumping technological rhythms. In stark contrast, 'Person to Person' is a more zany vocal number featuring some tongue-in-cheek percussion stings (think Dragon Ball Z aligned), the vocal itself being framed as The B-52's more reserved sibling.

Review: Semi Delicious return for their sixteenth edition with the impressive 'Asylum Of Love' V/A, inviting faces old and new to the imprint. A label noted for bringing together impressive collections of talent, SEMID016 is no exception, with six separate contributions from Krywald & Farrer, Gallegos, Tatie Dee, Omar Smadar & DJ Gear, Scarlett O'Malley & label boss, Demi Riquisimo. The A-side welcomes Krywald & Farrer, Gallegos and Tatie Dee, kicking off with 'Seize The Source' from the aforementioned Krywald & Farrer, before label regular Gallegos tops things up with 'Asylum of Love', and finally, Dee's 'For My Niece'. The B brings the most jubilant of the bunch, 'Check One', while this tonal up-shift continues with 'Hey Party People', before finally closing on Demi's finishing touch that is a version of 'Rocking You Internally' from his own 'Mirage Over' EP, released on the same imprint. As such he is just the sort of person you want to helm a mix series as long-running and influential as Global Underground. This is a double CD version that perfectly embodies his driving sound - part prog, part techno, part tribal, it's a textbook musical trip one from of the best in the game. Do not sleep.
