Review: When Deadmau5 first arrived, he was something of a lightening rod for underground purists who scoffed at his big mouse head and unashamedly over-the-top live performances. All these years later we now know he was in fact ahead of the times and somewhat helped to precipitate the vast EDM revolution that followed with its maximal sounds, crazy characters, and sync button sets. For Lack of a Better Name was the Canadian's fourth album back in 2009 and it features the critically acclaimed 'Strobe' as well as 'Ghosts 'n' Stuff' with Rob Swire of Pendulum. As far as electro and prog house goes, it hits all the right notes.

Review: As part of a new reissues bundle of the work of Canadian dance music extraordinaire Deadmau5, the 2010 album 4x4=12 now gets an as-it-was reissue via EMI. Including some of the helmeted spectacle's most enduring contribution to the dance music world from the era - including 'Some Chords', 'Animal Rights' with Wolfgang Gartner, 'Sofi Needs A Ladder', and 'Raise Your Weapon' with Greta Svabo Bech - the overall 11 tracks here are a worthy blast from the past, documenting the juncture at which Zimmerman moved on from huge walls of emotive progressive house gush, and segwayed into a techier, more mathematical sound befitting of electro house verging on complextro.

Review: Originally released in 2012, '> album title goes here <' is the sixth studio album by Canadian electronic music producer & composer Deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman). The 13-track album features a handful of Deadmau5' biggest hits, including but not limited to: 'The Veldt' with Chris James, 'Professional Griefers' with Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, 'Channel 42' with Wolfgang Gartner, and 'Telemiscommunications' with Imogen Heap. Now reissued for an even-more contemporary audience, this latest coloured vinyl version provides a new window into the world of the helmeted muroid cynic, and the humorously updated progressive house sound he helped trailblaze.

Review: Four years have passed since John Digweed's last four-disc mix outing, with the pandemic scuppering the veteran DJ's plans to record an extended set in an exotic location. Instead, what we get is a lightly edited recording of Diggers' most recent gig at Fabric in London, from the autumn of 2021. If you love Digweed's trademark DJ sound - smooth, long blends, melodic builds, dreamy chords and layered melodies alenty - then there's plenty to savour across this epic mix album. While there are a few techno tracks squeezed in on disc four, for the most part Digweed effortlessly joins the dots between tech-house, deep house, progressive house and the kind of melody-rich, atmospheric electronic fare that has always been his sonic calling card.

Review: Nine months in the making and containing45 tracks, "Quattro" is the latest from ever-present UK techno titan John Digweed. It is another mammoth project - does he deal in any other kind? - that showcases a broader range of sound than ever across five discs, each of which has its own subtly differing theme. His own atmospheric soundscapes feature next to music from Bedrock mainstays and newbies alike. There is delicate ambient techno, lush progressive house and plenty of cathartic grooves laden with emotion and ready to accompany plenty of hours of self-isolation from morning through noon and night.

Review: "Crossing Borders" has been compiled by Emok. He's managed a floating, extremely danceable and exciting mix. A deep portion of funk connects what's got to be connected: progressive house, minimal groove and electro. A top Wakyo release.

Having taken time out from production to create a fine mix for Fabric alongside life partner Octa Octa, Eris Drew returns to action with her most expansive collection of cuts since 2019's Raving Disco Breaks mixtape - a double album that's as colourful and mind-altering as they come. As usual, there's plenty of energy and musical eclecticism on show, with the producer - originally from Chicago, now based in New Hampshire - variously serving up skittish breakbeat house hedonism (the deliciously retro-futurist silliness of 'Pick 'Em Up'), acid bass-sporting synth-house cheeriness ('Loving Clav'), sub-heavy, sample-laden peak-time rushes ('Show You Love' and barnstorming closing cut 'Quivering in Time'), and impossible-to-pigeonhole outings whose ideas and execution are undeniably impressive ('Baby' and 'Ride Free' are particularly good examples).
