Stop Bajon (Primavera) (Michael Gray remix) vinyl

Unless you're new to the Balearic beats sound, you should already be familiar with Italian jazz drummer Tullio de Piscopo's 'Stop Bajon (Primavera)', a gloriously sunny, summery and infectious affair built around swinging, Latin-tinged drums, driving bass, starry electric piano motifs, chanted vocals and some life-affirming trumpet work from the legendary Don Cherry. It's a near perfect record so probably didn't need remixing, though Michael Gray - who seems to be reworking every record under the sun right now - has done a solid job. He's sped to the original musical elements up to make the track more suitable for peak-time dancefloors while adding a rolling, chunky house beat. It's hardly revolutionary, but then a track of this quality needed to be respected; fair play to Gray for delivering tasteful but functional revisions.
