German techno exponent Sawlin is having a fine year thus far, remixing Perc, dropping one of the best record titles in some time (Techno Dumplings) and now debuting on the Technorama label with a brilliantly growling 12". The Parisian imprint may only be two releases deep but show promise for the avid fan of wall rattling techno, with "Restless" a relentlessly unforgiving example of this. A concrete heavy groove pummels away as a ghostly voice attempts in vain to escape the nightmarish and constantly fluctuating environment unravelling around - fans of the Fachwerk and Skudge school of techno will revel in this grinding monstrosity. Swedish artist MRSK is collared to remix the track and wisely doesn't attempt to match the original's foreboding menace, instead opting for a straighter driving techno approach.
