Taken from their 1977 concept album Seven Deadly Sins, both these cuts show Rinder & Lewis at their most creative. With a history and repertoire that digs deep back to the very roots of soul and disco, this was when the duo had enough clout to step away from the session and production work to release under their own names. Both cuts tremble with authenticity; "Envy" is an unrelenting, driving slab of disco funk with whispered vocals and a nagging groove while "Lust" is a much dreamier, softer sonic soliloquy complete with weeping synths and shimmering guitars. Both are testament to the duo's longstanding contributions to dance music's most formative period.
