The dusty fingered Parisian crate digger Patrice Larrar steps up for Basic Fingers duty under his Reverend P alias, laying down two blisteringly good reworks of familiar voices for the label's fifteenth release. Leading the way is "Three Miles" a dancefloor pepped take on "Three Miles Down" one of Gil Scot Heron's undeniably funkiest moments. Taken from the live version, the good Reverend adds a simple bongo laden 4.4 rhythm that introduces a bit more drive to proceedings whilst the dearly departed Gil offers some glide with that truly distinctive vocal of his. On the flip, the Reverend shines the light on one of dance music's most criminally overlooked B Sides, "That's What You Get (For Being Polite)" by Jackson 5. Originally released as the facedown companion to 1978 mega smash "Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)", the track is the Jackson troupe at their jazz funk finest.
