1. | "Living It Out" (Cosmodelica remix) |
Second twelve of the week from DFA HQ and it also features the talents of Miss Janine Rostron aka Planningtorock, with her furiously uptempo shimmering disco jam "Living It Up" getting some interesting remix treatment. The original, a 21st Century take on the Philly Disco sound, was a notable highlight of an underrated album and the far from prolific Frenchman known as Jackson does a great job remixing it. A great clomping beat lies at the core, whilst the original plinking strings remain as does a breathless treatment of the chorus, which makes intermittent appearances amidst the scuttling groove. Whilst the rhythmic foundations lie in 4/4 you could barely call this house music, and it's a thrilling composition throughout the four distinct rhythmic passages. Bitches Brew boss Cosmo slips into her Cosmodelica outfit for a more traditional, bouncing electronic disco version that ramps up the string-shaped epicness markedly.
